  • @AlexLeonidas
    @AlexLeonidas  6 років тому +173

    Wanted to give you an update since I'll be releasing training footage soon. My objective is to do over 45lbs on the one arm weighted pullup, which would be world class. There are very few people on the planet who can do this, but I honestly think I can pull it off.
    And just so 100% we're clear, my goal is not to be #1 on earth. I simply want to be among the best at this lift, like the top 1% if you will.

    • @Mammophant
      @Mammophant 6 років тому +44

      You're already well above top 1%. How many people in a group of 1000 can even do a 1 armed pull up without weight? Youre shooting for like too 0.0001% here by my guesses.

      Would you do it if you already had the world record? Is it worth to starve yourself to say that you are top 1%? Is this your alpha destiny?

    • @Mammophant
      @Mammophant 6 років тому +6

      The pull up is probably one of the single most trained exercises next to push ups and sit ups. It doesn't matter if it's one armed or not, it's practically the same mechanics either way. I'm not a huge fan of Beta Destiny but his one armed pull up stuff is incredibly impressive even though hes only 5'3.

    Good luck bro truly impressive work!! I’m training hard to be able to get 1 one arm chin up just because my friends will be blown away if I do. I thought it would be easy because my weighted chin-up is VERY good (180lb with 100lb between feet for 3) but GOD DAMN when I use one arm I can’t even pull my self up half way up with no weight at all.

    Numbers to shoot for: 10 one arm pull ups in a row (you're halfway there) and 1 rep with 25kg (55 pounds) which is the biggest plate (the red ones) used in most weightlifting and powerlifting federations.
    Also, could you do a full video on how to achieve one arm pull ups? For example how do you go from weighted pull ups to one arm pull ups? And maybe a tutorial on the front lever? I know, I'm asking a lot 😅
    Btw congrats, you really improved a lot in 2018.

      AlphaDestiny my theory is that it's thanks to Alex's nuclei overload or however it's spelled. All the pulls, weighted chinups, weighted pullups, heavy ass lifts, etc. It contributed to the strength for one arm pullup, but he had to lose bodyfat for it (strength for OAP was there for a while though) proabably since 2k17.

    Inspiring Alex and informative as usual, also I can see how much hard work you are putting there.
    I just have a note on this part "I suck at skills" .. you do, you really do, because first you didn't train enough for it, second you don't know how it work, cause you didn't spend enough time exploring and trying, third because you comparing it to another gift that you are sharpening from how many years? .. you fooled yourself into believing that you suck at skills, but in my humble opinion, you just didn't give it enough time and effort, if you did you will get there, I believe so.

    In my opinion, for you to go below 160 would be a disaster. There might be a small difference between 180s and 160s in terms of absolute strenght, because most of the weight you lose is from fat, but now you're lean. 8-12% bodyfat imo. Even if you went into a caloric deficit your body would try to clinge onto that tiny bit of fat you have left, and the ratio of muscle loss (and thus strenght loss) vs fat loss would be much greater than during your cut from 15-20% to where you're at now. If you're gonna go for that one arm pull up world record, then you should probably not get below 160lb because you risk not being able to lift your end goal weight on yourself (cause remember: weighted callisthenics are a feat of absolute as much as they are of relative strenght). On that note, I have to say that what you're doing is amazing and you have my full admiration, I just wanted to give you an outsider opinion to consider. Just keep being alpha!

    Bro I respect you even more for pushing the calisthenics movement. To me, calisthenics is the elite method of training. Every body who lifts mocks it, yet they can even do 10% of what's possible lol

    Hey Alex! Super excited you’re pursuing this. I was obsessed with weighted pulls and got to 90lbs for 5 and after doing hours and hours of research on it I realized this movement is SUUUUPER old. I highly recommend you look up jasper benincasa to learn more on it. As far as I’ve seen 45-50 lbs is the most guys get to and 5-10 reps / arm is super elite! Mathew Soffner did 10/arm and reps with 45lbs (on youtube). There’s tons of guys to look up man. Can’t wait to see your progress!

      Yeah bro Matthew is insanely strong, I was very inspired by his feats of strength. I saw him do over 200 on the two arm version, and one rep with 45lbs one arm. I think he's one of the strongest people on the planet for these lifts

    To optimize this lift you'd have to lay off the Rack Pulls and stuff to let your lower body muscles atrophy on purpose.

    Do it dude losing muscle mass is a small sacrifice for having a world record. I also have a goal of hitting 135 lbs in weighted chinups at or under 200 lbs
