Im not hating on the rifle, but it’s also hard to justify spending noveske money to have it be so picky with ammo. I built an 11.5 criterion (carbine length) that’s very smooth shooting with an H3 buffer and runs all the cheap crappy ammo, and isn’t super gassy to the face, and is quite a bit more affordable. Runs very well with a traditional baffle style can too.
What do you expect? Its a premium rifle gassed for brass. The whole "if it cant shoot steel it doesn't deserver brass" argument is moronic bullshit that makes no sense. If Tula fed reliably in it then imagine how explosive and over gassed suppressed 77gr would be. Shoot the right ammo and you'll have a very soft shooting, enjoyable experience. When buying something like a Noveske you should know what you're getting yourself into. Its the same with something like a KAC.

From what I understand, the pressure after firing isn’t enough coming from a 223 round to cycle the weapon properly. I’m just a monkey with a gun though, so I may be wrong

I would honestly use a normal lower with an ambi mag release and use the geissele maritime bolt catch (as the bolt drop). In my experience with literally every true ambi lower out there (which are all nearly identical) the lefty bolt releases are in a bad spot for lefty’s imo. If your index finger isn’t super short, you can reach the geissele bolt catch easily to drop the bolt

Dumb question...11.5 mid? Like, you jammed a mid length gas system into an 11.5? What does that do for dwell time? Recoil impulse as nice as a mid 13.7 or is it still punchy?
Yeah that is exactly why I thought when I saw it. So I bought it and tried it for myself haha I used to have their 12.5” middy and it was my favorite gun up until I tried this combo. It honestly shoots very soft, but that may or may not be because I’m running it on an a5 system. I haven’t tried it on a carbine length system yet.

Really interested in grabbing one of these barrels and setting it up to make it as soft shooting as possible with a can and adjustable gas block. Do you think there’s going to be a big difference in gas/recoil vs a carbine length 11.5”?
I think if you’re only shooting one type/ brand/ formula of ammo, the adjustable gas block would be the way to go. As far as carbine vs midlength, there is a noticeable difference, however the 11.5 carbine I was comparing it to was a different brand (fwiw).

@@Getemzay223definitely gonna test the accuracy but if it’s like any other Noveske barrel I have owned, it’s gonna take a lot of time and ammo to see a significant decrease in accuracy. Normally I wear gloves when I shoot, so I don’t run rail scales on any of my guns

No not less powder, the heavier grains use the same amount of powder but there’s definitely higher pressures because of the space between the primer and the projectile. If you noticed less powder when removing a projectile then you probably got fucked on ammo…

Faxon recommend an adjustable gas block for this barrel. It’s mainly supposed to be ran suppressed. But you do not wanna run a standard gas block with this barrel period. Even Noveske has an adjustable gas block on their 11.5 with their proprietary length gas system. It’s a must.

You want your weapon to be perfectly gassed if possible. You don’t want an over gassed rifle if you can avoid it especially if youre running a suppressor. I understand what you’re saying however you’re not hearing what I’m saying. With these barrels that have no dwell time are naturally over gassed. They have to be to work properly. That’s why you need an adjustable gas block cuz when you use a suppressor the gas needs to be turned down or you’ll have unnecessary ware on your weapon.

All the adjustable gas block does is allow the end user to turn down the gas, it won't help if there is already not enough gas which in this case is the problem. He's under gassed, so the only thing he can do is run a lighter buffer and spring combo or just accept that he can only expect proper bolt hold open when running full power 556

You need an adjustable gas block. I have the Faxon 11.5 mid with an adjustable gas block no suppressor and it runs great in semi and full auto!!!
