Thank, this helped me a lot! I got the starter set of 6x5ml tubes from Jackson's. Those colours lean towards the warmer sid, so i want to choose 6 colours on the colder side, plus a couple of earths. I prefer single pigments, so i can make my own clean mixes. I watched this a few times to narrow down my selection. The Holbein site has lots of info, but your swarhes "live and in colour" make a huge difference. Thanks again!
@@jaqrocha they are not opaque but to someone that has been doing water colors for a long time, they may lean that way. An expert in water colors pointed out to me that they have a lot of multi pigment paint colors, so there that. I used them today and I enjoyed them although they didn’t seem as creamy as my Daniel Smith or Schminke Horadam. I like them.
I watched your video, because someone on ebay put 18 colors in half pans and sold them for 20€, I always wanted to try these out and if I don't like a color I can always resell it,these are usually sooo expensive in Germany 😅
This is fun to watch. I've used Holbein for over 10 years. The Opera pigment information is not correct. It's BV10 and PR122. Not BV19. Must have been type o by the creator of this dot card. Thanks for sharing.
@watercolorwanderingwithk I enjoyed your video a couple of weeks ago, renewed my interest in the dot cards, and I have since talked to her via FB. She is about to have some available again, but she might need some help getting them to buyers and getting the word out. I told her I would see if I could find any interest. Please let me know if you could lend a hand. Thanks so much. 😊
@@watercolorwanderingwithk if it helps, Da Vinci sells theirs directly on their site. Though they are not a “dot card” but 5 paper palettes with a generous paint sample on it.
I have nearly 80 colors in Holbein. I’d purchased 2 sets of 18 with 15 ml tubes in 2018-2019 for about 40 dollars a box. I bought a few extra colors because I was learning from an artist and bought what he suggested. Well, this April I just happened to find a set of 60 with 5 ml tubes around $120. I believe they were so inexpensive due to the fact that they were having to pay a fee because they hadn’t sold all the sets they’d listed by a certain date. Seems to me I recall Lindsay W. saying that same thing when she found a set of another brand for an extremely inexpensive price. Saying all of that…. I have had the set of 60 come up on my feed for even less but it is on a place overseas. I’d buy it if I hadn’t already purchased one. I’ve heard they are very inexpensive if you can buy them in Japan. (maybe china?? It’s late, I’m old and I’m tired so I’m brain dead 😂😂) If I didn’t tell you now I knew I’d forget. I’ve never seen the sets of 18 which were marked set A and set B. If you are interested I can forward you the screenshot next time I see it. You are definitely correct. They are very expensive if purchased from anywhere in the US. Thank you for swatching these. I truly hope enjoyed it as I’m relaxing after difficult day!!! I’ve subscribed to this channel and wish you best of luck. I quit checking email when I retired from teaching Math 40 years!! I do not own any Holbein watercolors. The swatches are lovely, but right now I don’t feel like buying any. Who knows I might change my mind in the future! 😉
I only have one colour, the Imidazalone Lemon. Nice enough paint, but tbh I'm not itching to buy more. If it were less pricey, I'd be more inclined to try a few more tubes I suppose. Seeing the range all swatched out like this, they do look pretty though.
I am just buying Holbein and you are helping me a lot to see the real color on paper. I subscribe ❤
Oh that's good to hear
Yes girl so glad to see you expand into Watercolor!!!
Awe thank you. I do love watercolor ♥️

Wow! I have a couple of them but seeing the whole collection is WOW
I really like the colors. Very bright and so smooth
Thank you for a very informative video; I just got my first set of 36 Holbein pans!
Ooooh what do you think of them?
@@watercolorwanderingwithk I love them!
I was wanting to test these watercolors, but I saw a video where they said they are too opaque. that is true?

That is good to know because I know this is a homemade chart sold on Etsy
Ooh pretty. Is there a link for this dot card? I tried to find it but unsuccessfully. Thanks
Sadly she's out of stock. I'm going to see if she can let me know when she has them back up

Wish more brands offered dot cards. The ones from Turner in Japan are super original with planets and fish.
I do wish there were more dot cards out there.

The Holbein watercolors are not badly priced here in the US -- they are also on Jackson's Art.
Would you please post the Etsy shop anyway? There might be other items of interest for sale. Thanks!

@@watercolorwanderingwithk This link is broken. Name of the shop, please?
Oooo I didn’t realize you had a dedicated watercolor channel!! When did this happen? I just subscribed.❤
Just made it. Haven't had a lot of time to upload lol

They are expensive for sure. I think I'll forever be a Roman Szmal and Schmincke girl
