When a parent finds something like that from their child, they don't dare leave the house - running around in a panic, not knowing where your kid is, is worse than useless. Your one hope is that the kid will come home. Unless you know where the kid will go, you have to stay home and be there for the kid when they get home (if they come home). Also, if anybody calls to say he's at their house, or they saw him walking, or whatever, she is at a central location to respond to that call (if she has a land line phone, she can take the call.) Yes, she might have called the police, or called her friends and family, etc., but at first the shock of finding something like that just makes the parents numb with fear. We don't know how long she waited in this story for him to come home - but if she had been out running around, he might have left again. It's easy to second guess this kind of thing, but as a parent with a kid who has mental health issues, when your kid leaves, you stay home and wait. When she comes home, the weight of the world is taken off your shoulders and you can breathe again.

I think it either had already appened, but she remembered it + cried again, her son saw + they cried together in relief or it was happening + eveyone's out there looking for him, but mom had to stay home, in case + in hopes that he'd return home to her, safely. I cried hard😢😢😢This was Billy's only #1 hit when he was like 14/15 on a talent sbow. I think I prefer Billy Gilman's original 2000 version. It came out not long after the Columbine High School shooting massacre in 1999.Billy Gilman was about 12 years-old at the when he did the original recording back in 2000. I think it resonated more with me because the song was released shortly after Columbine and I had watched the funerals of some of the victims ( one of them open casket) on tv.This is still a beautiful updated rendition of the song.
