I felt so bad for him when his voice changed, and he came out with a pretty ordinary tenor, lost all that beautiful tone and amazing power he had (for a kid especially). But he always had an old soul that could sing those songs in ways most his age couldn't. I had no idea that it was even possible to build a voice like this. It's just amazing. I don't know if he will win the competition but I think he has shown he has the voice to launch a career on. Don't care what he sings either; country, pop, rock and roll, hell hip hop if he wants. He is so worth listening to.
I was the only black kidd in my house who use to love hearing this song Billy still got it ❤.
I was imprisoned in captivity between 4-14 by my parents and I had this CD at 5 and this song kept me going through those years as I hoped my voice would be heard as I sang it. Hearing his adult version means absolutely so much to me in my darkest moments. Its so beautiful. Thank you for uploading this.
That’s amazing to hear. I was also very badly abused an neglected as a child. This cd was one of 5-6 CDs that I had access to in my moms cd case., not sure where it came from my sisters or mom.. it was my first favorite cd, along with NSYNC And Backstreet Boys. This song specifically though, spoke to me. Made my hurt child self feel heard and loved. I was hoping to be that one voice that was heard .

He has the purest voice. No, he doesn't sound like the 12 year old kid anymore but his matured voice sounds better to me. And there's that note he hits in the bridge of the song. I think he can still hit high notes just fine.

I prefer his 12 year-old voice. But kids grow up. Makes Me feel old. However, I think he's still a very skilled & talented singer. He still has a great adult voice.

I remember listening to his music when i was 12. Now im 30 and still love it.

I took my daughter to the Ohio state fair so she could see him. On the way leaving, his bus was in front of us. She begged me to follow him. We did. Thru pulled into a Wal-Mart. Thru closed the store for him. We waited, my daughter on pins and needless. He came out. And you know what? He walked right up to her and have her a hug. Spent a little time talking to her them they made him leave. One voice we heard!!

He will eventually. That's how these shows are. He wants a new direction I get it. But like Garth said people wanna hear the old stuff so we'll eventually hear One Voice or Oklahoma. I'm leaning more toward one voice as that was his big hit.

SO SO happy he is back. I have his cassette - yes a cassette - from so many years ago and have listened to it so many times.When I saw he was going to be on the Voice - I just was elated. He was still so good - even with just one song. Have to believe he will win - still a wonderful voice and great personality. You go Billy.
If you can call being a wedding singer back then I guess sure you can say that but a wedding singer is pretty low on the level of professional singers and I'm not saying that's bad but it is what it is. 🤷♂️👍✌

Billy i remember being a youngster when your song came out... I had so many struggles in my life from a young age, Losing loved ones, to much much more. This song helped me through all those bad times. I am so proud an happy that you are getting back into music and i wish you the best!
To hear this from Billy as an adult is amazing. Whether song by a 12-year old or a grown version of that 12-year old, this song remains pertinent to the times, then and now.
Billy is really too good to need The Voice. He debuted so long ago, he's so skilled and experienced and expressive. it's just so sad that most people slept on his talent.

he got dropped after puberty hit him as a pre teen. he got told his voice changed to much. which sucked cause I loved it no matter what.

People love this song but I don't think it's for him anymore. He's a great singer. everyone should be allowed to grow up.and outgrow a thing such as a song, a style and a way of being.

Singing it differently (aka not like a 12 year old pre-pubescent boy) does not mean he can't hit the notes.
I did watch the video. In fact, I watched it again after reading your comment. I do think he sang it differently but he can not hit those notes. I don't think he sings a lot using his falsetto. I also don't think he has much of a blend in his registers. I like his voice but I think he mostly uses his chest voice. I've also listened to other performances he's done.

I used to listen to this song on CMT back when I was a teenager. To hear Billy sing it today, with a more mature and powerful voice is breathtaking. And what an absolute handsome man he's come to be.

The angel is all grown up, how about that? 15 years, huh... Wow. I used to have two of his CDs ("One Voice" and "Music Through Heartsongs"), though both were lost when my house was robbed a few years ago. Something made me think of him (it wasn't "The Voice"- I don't do reality shows, and only found out he was on it when I got here) and had listen again. No less impressive than when he was a kid, I must say. I'm no vocal expert, but he's traded in a few of those high notes (duh) for quite a nice range, IMO. The variations in tone and pitch made for an interesting listening experience. And that last held note shot my eyebrows into my hairline. Nice. Must have more.
