Cheating is sooo disrespectful. I’d rather someone tell me they’re just not feeling the relationship anymore. Cheating is more complicated. Also, considering you can contract STDs and whatever from cheating, that’s putting your partner at risk. So I agree, you do have to hate someone to put them through all of that.
And destructive. My first boyfriend cheated on me. Couldn't trust ANYONE for years after that. I had my crushes. But did I date? No. I let myself heal, taking as long as I needed.
Ugh, we should leave out that redemption arc and just let the Cheaters go to Hell more often. I'm not even Catholic or Christian anymore(gasp, blasphemy for us Filipinos) but you know what, some people still deserve a realm like Hell.

Divorce isn't a thing in the Philippines yet that's probably why the mom tells her to fight. Separation also isn't a thing because if you are caught with another person while married or have kids with them you can be criminally charged for it. Annulment is a thing though but its very difficult to obtain. It could take many years in court and isnt even easy to get.
@@chibee4l Annulments completely invalidate the marriage (basically claims the marriage wasn’t real, ie. Los Vegas marriages). Divorce acknowledges the marriage as valid and just ends it. But yea if divorce wasn’t a option I wouldn’t get married either lol.
@@chibee4l A common way to get a marriage annulled is to claim it was never consummated. This works pretty well due to being hard to prove wrong, unless there's children. A friend's father got two marriages annulled this way before her mother.

*men who let* There's no letting. What they supposed to do? Tie him up and bleed the cheater outta him? Nothing they can except express disapproval. Maybe unfriend him ionno. But I definitely won't go telling his wife. I'm not gonna die and have an angel telling the lord I had a hand in ending a marriage. That ain't my jurisdiction 🤣
@@danielbriggz But the friend was being unfaithful in the marriage and his wife deserves to know. You'd want to know if your partner was cheating on you, wouldn't you? So you have the choice whether or not to continue that marriage. You're saying it's better to keep silent so the marriage won't end because you don't wanna be "responsible" for ending a marriage??? The cheating friend is the one responsible for that; along with committing adultery which is much worse than ending a marriage, I assure you.
@@joyc.e.7511 I think it depends on how well you even know your friend’s partner. I think most people would try to get their friend to be up front with their partner way ahead of actually picking up the phone and calling someone they aren’t that close to.

I agree with Kennie on the whole cheating thing. If someone cheats on me they don't love me they want to hurt me and thats why I could never forgive a cheater.

Ate, I don't remember its title or actors but I remember seeing one where they dragged out supernatural conflicts for the hero & his love interest for 40+ episodes only to kill her off 😭 for good.
I’m so glad Kennie mentioned that folks can still cheat on you when you’re in a polyam relationships. Too many people conflate cheating and polyamory, and NO! These two things are not the same things *at all*
The only time you should fight "for" your partner is if they're already in a fight and you jump in to fight alongside them. Unless they're getting beaten up for cheating on you. Then you join the other side.
ok but the reason why the mom said that is bc divorce doesn’t exist in the philippines. annulment is the replacement but it’s a very hard, often long process and virtually impossible unless you are wealthy, so naturally most filipino women stay and try to work out their marriage after their husband has cheated.
Also the only reason I would agree with fighting a woman for your man is if it's over sexual harassment or assault. If this was under completely different circumstances. A heiress having sexual relations with an employ would be a very sticky situation. Especially if the employ didn't really want it. Her threating his job was pretty serious just for them to move past it but I'm not from the Philippines so I don't know how that works legally for them.
I am here for the mess here on today! Also the fact there is a Nigerian movie called Beyoncé vs Rihanna that I was forced to watch with my family is taking me out
There's another one that drags Shakira into some mess, too. My mom loved those movies so much, the fam would sometimes be subjected to watching *one singular* narrative for literally the whole afternoon. Ugh, god bless 😂🙈
Absolutely agree on the cheating rant lmao. So sick of seeing movies, tv, books or whatever show cheating like it’s a romantic thing and like you’re not an absolute shitstain on the taint of the world for doing it. Especially when they try pull the “oh I still love my partner! Things just happened and I made a mistake!” card like nah, that’s not how it works and you do not deserve forgiveness.
Here’s the thing, I won’t judge a person who decides to take back a cheater, and I’ll have compassion for a cheater that does the work and puts in the real effort to repair the relationship, IT COULD NEVER BE ME! Because I would never do that to somebody so for you to cross that line? Gotta go bro. I’ve been cheated on and chose to believe the lies for far too damn long, did the crazy stuff, screaming and crying on the phone etc. Never again chile!

"Four Sisters and a Wedding" is one of the more iconic films in Filipino Pop Culture. Basically, it's five siblings (4 sisters, 1 little brother), and when the youngest sibling is about to get married, the sisters try to stop their brother from getting married and chaos ensues (along with sibling dynamic therapy). One scene in the entire movie is filled with meme-able quotes that so many people I know still mention them just because it was so relatable.
You're right and you should say so! I just broke up with an ain't shit who was cheating on me then tried to say she "had enough love for both of us." Cheating is 100% an act of emotional violence and is completely unforgivable.

I was cheated on by my husband a few years ago, and Charmaine's reaction is 100% authentic. It makes you feel like you were missing something, like somehow you drove them to do it. You might be onto something about how someone wouldn't cheat on you unless they hated you. I never thought about it that way before.

I watched this when the movie came out years ago in the Philippines.. I must say, the lines were really spicy especially between the wife and the mistress 😂
I'm pretty late to comment on this but my gosh this movie had the most iconic cheating lines from Anne Curtis (the mistress): "Kiss me but don't you dare fall in love with me" "I don’t need to read your research report. I know the market because I am the market." "You can call me anything you want: a snake, a bitch, an other woman. But I will never be a pathetic, boring housewife." My favorite thing about cheaters irl, is how the new girl/ mistress, even if she gets the man, he’s forever tainted in her eyes, because she knows what he’s capable of. Knowing that, if I were the wife with a rich daddy, I’d have the mistress over for dinner, explain that I know what’s going on, give him a pre packed bag, and say take him, I don’t want him anymore, he’s broken. Let her take care of this man baby because im done, if she wants to spend time worrying where he’s at and what he’s up to, enjoy! Kenny you're rant on cheating opened my eyes a little. I'd always stuck by that cheaters don't deserve forgiveness & that it's not a mistake but a series of choices, but I do see that they do have to hate you even just a little bit to hurt you like that.
When you said “To cheat you have to hate the person” it reminds me of a family member who regularly cheats, and full on relationships with other women behind his girlfriend’s back. But the reality is he wants to break up with her but he can’t have those hard emotional conversations. So if someone cheats it’s bc they aren’t the one for you. They aren’t content, they need to be let go, there’s no fixing it usually.
Being a serial cheater bc you couldn't have the nerve to break up with your SO is one of the most yellow bellied, lily livered wussy shit someone can do. Bc constantly betraying someone's trust is way more comfy than outright letting them go.
45:55 Honestly Kara feels like an example of what I call Lazy-Writing Induced Hypocrisy, her saying "Don't catch feelings" and then getting feelings could've worked if it was partially as a result of her own personal flaws, like envy. Maybe she was so envious of Charmaine, not of the marriage but because she saw a woman with her man and when someone has something she wants she takes it to hurt them. Kara feels like Amber from Invincible, in that she was just supposed to break up with Mark so he gets with Atom Eve, same reason why Rex cheated on Eve with Kate.
The redemption arch I would have loved would’ve been Ram getting therapy and running his business, Sharmane living her best life like she deserves, and Karah finding a man that loves her for her.
Oh welcome to the Derek Ramsey (Ram) cinematic universe. For some reason the guy actor is typecasted in these kinds of movies here. There is actually a movie where the mistress here (Ann Curtis) is his wife.
kennie, u don't understand, i was half asleep before i saw this in my notifs and now i'm WIDE awake. this feels like an early christmas present. i can say this as a mainland filipino: i personally find our movies & teleseryes that are like this-supposedly serious, overdramatic, excruciatingly formulaic, misogynistic, *very* toxic-to be MUCH funnier than our actual comedies (which tend to rely on mostly bigotry & harassment tbh at least these are hard to take seriously). this one is definitely a classic and it's an example of what usually gets made into memes here. i vaguely remember watching this movie at an inappropriately young age but couldn't really remember much because *_so_* many of our movies/teleseryes have the exact same premise, so you get confused on which scene or dialogue came from which. i've honestly been meaning to go back and watch more of the Questionably Written Yet Somehow Applauded local movies that i saw as a kid. trust me that this probably isn't even the messiest lmao. i do recommend another film of anne curtis (kara) called *THE GIFTED* (which has some classic pinoy fatphobia, but god, its script was awful that it's hilarious) and another with different actors titled *SHE'S DATING THE GANGSTER* starring our country's most famous TV couple. it was praised so heavily but once you look back on it... Very Problematic. honestly could say that about 98% of our romance movies. would recommend going through each actor's catalogue to find that a good chunk of them is just Mess. but yeah, very excited for non-filipinos to witness the absurdity-/lh and said with love!-of some of our local movies (tho some cultural things that might only be understandable or humorous to us might be confusing). *EDIT:* oh wow that was much more emotional than i remember 😭 btw, there's actually one cheating-centric teleserye that had the gall to kill off the main dude and the scenes between the wife & mistress where they were preparing his funeral were just unintentionally hilarious lmao and i agree 100% with everything that u said about cheating - it sucks filipinos here tend to value forgiveness (usually due to catholic guilt) so they easily forgive their cheating partners regardless of the pain they've caused. hell, divorce is incredibly looked down upon here. that's why the ending is like *that.*
I feel the Forgiveness bit so much. We usually get called to forgive and forget personal issues like abusive family members - to heavy societal issues like corrupt politicians, their incompetency and even a dictator's dynasty..
Maybe it's just me and my trauma talking but an ending in the form of "happy baby and we can all wave at each other" ain't enough. Fun fact about eating foods your allergic to: sometimes they don’t taste good!! Whenever I eat something I’m allergic to I can always tell somethings off because the food gives your mouth a very unpleasant, tingly itchy sensation right after swallowing it. Your body can also re-create this feeling whenever you eat the same type of food again, regardless of if it actually has an allergen in it the next time you eat it. TLDR; eating foods your allergic to isn’t pleasant while eating it, let alone after when your throwing your guts up and are now put of that specific dish you ate forever.

Filipino here. :D This movie was explosive when this was released on cinemas, being a very talked about film because of the performance of the actors and actresses and also because of the plot. It was made in a period of time in Philippine cinema wherein a lot of movies made revolved around infidelity. Even TV shows would amp up the drama factors in their "kabitserye" or mistress TV series. Annulment is a thing though but its very difficult to obtain. It could take many years in court and isnt even easy to get.

Isn't divorce the same as an annulment, also this would completely put me off of getting married

I agree with Kennie on the whole cheating thing. If someone cheats on me they don't love me they want to hurt me and thats why I could never forgive a cheater.

ok but the reason why the mom said that is bc divorce doesn’t exist in the philippines.
annulment is the replacement but it’s a very hard, often long process and virtually impossible unless you are wealthy, so naturally most filipino women stay and try to work out their marriage after their husband has cheated.

As a Filipino subscriber of yours, I am living for this!!!!! This is legit a Filipino classic!!!!!!! 😄
It's cowardice. They would rather hurt the other person than have an honest conversation with themselves and with their SO about their relationship.

kennie, u don't understand, i was half asleep before i saw this in my notifs and now i'm WIDE awake. this feels like an early christmas present. i can say this as a mainland filipino: i personally find our movies & teleseryes that are like this-supposedly serious, overdramatic, excruciatingly formulaic, misogynistic, *very* toxic-to be MUCH funnier than our actual comedies (which tend to rely on mostly bigotry & harassment tbh at least these are hard to take seriously). this one is definitely a classic and it's an example of what usually gets made into memes here. i vaguely remember watching this movie at an inappropriately young age but couldn't really remember much because *_so_* many of our movies/teleseryes have the exact same premise, so you get confused on which scene or dialogue came from which.
i've honestly been meaning to go back and watch more of the Questionably Written Yet Somehow Applauded local movies that i saw as a kid. trust me that this probably isn't even the messiest lmao. i do recommend another film of anne curtis (kara) called *THE GIFTED* (which has some classic pinoy fatphobia, but god, its script was awful that it's hilarious) and another with different actors titled *SHE'S DATING THE GANGSTER* starring our country's most famous TV couple. it was praised so heavily but once you look back on it...
*EDIT:* oh wow that was much more emotional than i remember 😭 btw, there's actually one cheating-centric teleserye that had the gall to kill off the main dude and the scenes between the wife & mistress where they were preparing his funeral were just unintentionally hilarious lmao
and i agree 100% with everything that u said about cheating - it sucks filipinos here tend to value forgiveness (usually due to catholic guilt) so they easily forgive their cheating partners regardless of the pain they've caused. hell, divorce is incredibly looked down upon here. that's why the ending is like *that.*

We usually get called to forgive and forget personal issues like abusive family members - to heavy societal issues like corrupt politicians, their incompetency and even a dictator's dynasty..
I AGREE with what you said about cheating being like an act of violence! That hit me so hard….whew

I noticed foods that contained allergens always tasted off/metallic or made my mouth dry.
I'm lactose intolerant and I wish dairy didn't taste so damn good 🤤🤤🤤. My brain knows it's bad for me, but my heart wants cheesecake and you always follow your heart.
Same! I once had a piece of chicken that tasted way off and made my tongue feel itchy the second it hit my mouth. Turns out the dish had chicken and shrimp mixed together and the way that the shrimp was fried made it look like chicken. Paid for my mistake in the bathroom a minute later
I had this with kiwis!
I liked the taste but the tingling it left was annoying. When I heard people discuss pineapple allergies being that way for them I was like: Hang TF on... I have that with kiwis! For as long as I remember.
It took me nearly 2 & a half decades to find out but hey at least I know it now
@@blueismylove3128 I’d imagine that’s because there’s no oral component to lactose intolerance and is only a failure to digest dairy, and not and active reaction against it. Sounds like both a blessing and a curse lol
As a Filipino, I'm gagged you're reviewed this haha! This was phenomenal and talked about back then 'cause Filipinos love to resonate with the underdog housewife beating the hell out of the mistress villain haha! That's why its a staple storyline in every movies and series up to this today!
“I’m of the school of thought that men are nothing to fight over.” Wise words 🥂
QUEEN. Yes. Thank you so much for mentioning the polyamorous aspect in the end. I'm polyam and in a relationship. We both set parameters that we respect and we discuss when needed, even if just for reassurance. The name of the game is CONSENT and RESPECT.
Also the part of not forgiving someone but able to let go of them, to overcome the hatred.
To really give it an epic ending, Kara should’ve come back with a baby! Like for picture it with me,
Same as the last seen they are at the mall she sees them awkwardly waves, but this time she looks away quickly and tries to leave the area, when a toddler, (lets say she was gone for 3years) runs up to her screaming mummy. And it zooms back to dude and his wife looking on in shock as Kara picks the baby up, and awkwardly looks back at them. Scene.
Roll credits!
Mate I’d be like waahahhahaa😮😂😂😂😂
Chefs kiss💋
No coz this the perfect ending to mess like that.
ID BE SCREAMINGGGG
Oh My Gosh. Write that screen play!
I agree with you that cheating is an act of hatred. There is no justification or excuse for it. People try. Like you said there is no love involved and any consideration for the person's health and overall well being.
As someone with a severe shellfish allergy, that scene is wild lol.
It seems like how you die.
I wasn’t expecting this video to be so heavy on my heart. As someone who’s been cheated on, this video definitely triggered some old feelings but you’re not wrong in any of ya words. No amount of ass, boobs, personality, or skills will stop someone from cheating. Man it still hurts but that thought does make me feel better.
It's 100% correct. Same.
I highly recommend that you look into the bad movies on the international circuit! The bad movies in Nollywood and Latin America (including the telenovelas) will have you set for life!
Ram’s male friend in this movie reminds Windows warning you not to skip software updates, and when you do, viruses happen (or in Ram’s case, an eventual STD LOL)
I was just cheated on by a long term boyfriend whose now a ex, cheating is one of the worst things you can do to someone and your right about it being like that person has to hate you so the words in this video are spot on so thank you for making me laugh and the kind words. I always enjoy watching you react and explain movies.
Can’t imagine staying with a guy who cheated on me. The way my depression and anxiety is set up, I’d just be forever a sad anxious mess.
i feel like you could totally rock being bald but that's also because when i was in high school and was in the mental hospital i met this girl (who i was in love with) who told me about how she made a point to shave her head every 5 years because it helped her bracket eras in her life and so i now try to shave all my hair off every few years in honor of her
you mean to tell me this movie could’ve been over had the pretty girls just kissed and gotten rid of the guy ??
I swear I really needed to hear each and every of those "men aren't worth fighting for"
Filipino here. :D
This movie was explosive when this was released on cinemas, being a very talked about film because of the performance of the actors and actresses and also because of the plot. It was made in a period of time in Philippine cinema wherein a lot of movies made revolved around infidelity. Even TV shows would amp up the drama factors in their "kabitserye" or mistress TV series.
I recommend The Mistress, one of my favorite Filipino films made if you're looking for a good plot. However, if you like messy camp movies, I recommend: The Gifted, When The Love Is Gone, The Love Affair and A Secret Affair.
21:16 Filipino viewer here, the way I personally eat hot food with my hands is to wash my hands in cold water (or touch a glass of cold water) before touching the food
Kennie name dropping Nollywood cult classics made me proud to be African tbh. We did it guys!🙌🏾👏🏾
The way you describe the mistress acquiring a man as if she just decided to materialize one out of jealously.
I agree with Kennie on her views of cheating.
If I get cheated on, I might go Acrimony crazy, but I won't die, because I'm a survivor.
Love that end lol be a survivor girl 😂
Kennie is so grounding to watch. No matter what shit I have been through each week, seeing her live her life and eviscerate films with her humor and disappointed discontent is charming and makes me feel like I’m hanging out with my older sister and life feels kind of okay for a sec.
“so this is about two girls fighting over a man, and they’re rich, and they shout at each other a lot” the most normal premise of a filipino movie
I applaud Kennie for beautifully recapping this movie that even I as a Filipino couldn’t get myself to watch all the way through
I never thought I would live to see the day when Kennie reviews a Filipino film 😭 I'm both happy and embarassed
The scene where the wife smacks the mistress and the husband had me cackling at 3 AM
I haven't seen a dinner scene with a mistress more chaotic than Dr. Foster. It's mess at its FINEST 😂 Also come through with the Paramore hood classic!!
I have loved Dr. Foster for the longest time. I saw both the Korean and Turkish remakes. And the dinner scene each time is as good as the first time I saw it.
I don't know if you've seen it.. but there's a Filipino adaptation too😂😂
@@blackmuzicluver35 no way?! I'll DEFINITELY have to check it out, thanks
@@jacquelinelugo5518 I didn't know the was a Turkish remake, but I'll definitely have to check it out
@@sweetnlo13 It's so good as well, and it does a bit of a twist with the second woman
That whole time you were talking about how those who cheat must hate you. Tears. Just cried it really hit a nerve but I loved the way you explained it. Thank you for making such great videos ❤
I SAW THE TITLE AND I CLICKED SO FAST. im so glad you reacted to a filipino movie. 😪
they are my comfort movies
Kennie out here giving us a 2 for 1. Movie review and life advice.
