01. How to install Windows Server 2016 (Step by Step guide)

In this video series I am going to be installing and configuring the new Windows Server 2016. In the first video from the series we are going to perform a clean install of Windows Server 2016 and perform the initial configuration of the server.
Minimum requirements for Windows Server 2016:
Processor:
1.4 GHz 64-bit processor
Compatible with x64 instruction set
Supports NX and DEP
Supports CMPXCHG16b, LAHF/SAHF, and PrefetchW
Supports Second Level Address Translation (EPT or NPT)
Memory:
512 MB (2 GB for Server with Desktop Experience installation option)
ECC (Error Correcting Code) type or similar technology
Storage:
32 GB

How do you expand the C: Drive Space, system came preconfigured and don't want to wipe it again to fix issue.
Hi Ammran, it depends if your server is virtual or physical. I would suggest you to try and remove or move something from the C partition, if possible.
I would use Windows Backup to do a Bare Metal Backup (or whatever they're calling it these days) and restore it to a larger disk. You can then use Disk Manager to expand the volume. It's a simple fix UNLESS your server is booting to a UEFI partition, at which point, you have to use a third party solution to perform the same function I described at first. MacriumSoftware has a 30-day trial you can use to back up the OS, swap out the hard disk (to an SSD, hopefully) then restore it. It's a fast and easy project.
you can go to disk management then try to allocate blank partition to your drive C:

I installed SQL 2016 Express and released a folder.
Every morning i have to restart the server beause the folder or SQL is not accessible.
After the restart the SQL and folder are accessible. The server has a static ip like you did.
i am clueless.. :/

I am been promoted to been IT Manager and managing a network server environment would be my next big task.
Windows Server 2016 is the environment I am been expected to roll out.

Hello, I've Windows Server 2016 in cluster (Fujitsu CX400 M1 with Fujitsu 2 x CX2550 M2) but after domain renaming cluster is broken. I wasn't make any backups of config (I know that was stupid) and too many things was broken (cluster connection, GPO, DNS Server, Certifications and some more), so I decided to install and config server from scratch because on first installation server was configured to standard settings without so many options that's is requireby our employes.
How can I restore this two servers to factory mode? I've serials keys to them so can I install new system from scratch or can I do restore to factory settings like in Windows 10?

When secure boot enabled means it could affect client startup?...
Hi Boss, a bit more information on secure boot from MS - When the PC starts, the firmware checks the signature of each piece of boot software, including UEFI firmware drivers (also known as Option ROMs), EFI applications, and the operating system. If the signatures are valid, the PC boots, and the firmware gives control to the operating system. If the signatures are not valid - it will not be able to boot properly.

Hi d kyosk, I do not recommend installing SQL Server on a Domain Controller. There are multiple security concerns and Microsoft will not support this configuration:

Hi please am kinda confused when it comes to server,is the windows 2016 server a program you install into the central unit for it to run as the operating system in that machine??Or is it a program you install in a machine which already has its OS running and it is running ontop of the OS or it is just a machine on its own??

Hi Dhall, did you use the upgrade option from the Installation Media? In most cases this is a no go for me. A lot of old registry components are left behind from the old OS. Unfortunately this error is a thing you need to check in details - Event Viewer for example.

tis easy to find ;) google en_windows_server_2016_x64_dvd_9718492.iso or M$ will have the 180 eval for download free, I myself have the MSDN version. The hyper V ver. of Server 2019 is free I believe but you need to understand a non gui server environment. I can not give links soz
