Thanks for this guide and many of your other guides. As part of my internship at an IT company I have to set up a testing environment and this is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank You very much for this video. Today I followed all that You explained and now I can connect remotely (in workgroup) to my Virtual Machine and use Hyper-V Manager in Windows Server 2016 there. And now I can create virtual network for labs without interrupting of work on my physical machine with Windows Server 2016.
Hi, Nick i have seen almost every major topic video you created to counter check on our technique and get various thing to keep for us. Thus i found your video very helpful in terms of detail explanation regarding every topic you made for those who are in the filed IT & Acting as Admin somewhere to cope at their end on a quick way. Overall provided info, clear voice and step you created relevant to topic are quite good. Keep providing more tips & tricks. Thanks
Wow wow this is perfect from NLB Solutions. Thanks for the videos very useful to my career path in server administration. Even if i haven't bought the enough equipment for my own lab, this is awesome. Thanks keep up the good work
Awesome video NLB! I hope you are the right person to help me out. I installed Windows server in my home lab environment installed the HYPER-V successfully and now I want to install the ESXi 6.5 will it be possible to install. if yes please make a video on it. Really appreciated about this video making and explanation on Hyper-V
Hi Nuthan, thank you for the support! Installing ESXi on Hyper-V is achievable, but I am not sure about 6.5. The main problem is when trying to actually create and install a VM on the ESXi it was making problems. I will definitely try out this one in the future.
Hi nuthan, you can try to deploy ESXi 5.X and see how it goes. There are some bugs with networking, but if you look around the web you will be able to find a solution. If your AMD is virtualization capable it should support this for testing.
HI there, GREAT Vid. My question is this: I am installing a new server for a client. Approx 30 Users. I am using server 2016 standard Edition. They going to be using SQL 2016 as well. For the AD, DHCP, DNS and File and Storage roles, should I install those on a VM or just keep everything together on the same physical server?
Hi Rudy, if the physical server is able to handle it I would split the SQL server from the other roles. It is not recommended to install SQL on a Domain controller - support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2032911/you-may-encounter-problems-when-installing-sql-server-on-a-domain-cont
Looks like this just enabling Hyper-V on physical machine running Windows server 2016, this is fairly simple as I understand. I thought nested Hyper-V means enabling a Hyper-V on a virtual machine. Is it possible to do it, if so how?
Hi Nick, Thank u for the videos very good job dude. Could please guide me where to get the microsoft script which you used to to enable Hyper-V host...Thank You.
Hi Mohamed, thank you for the kind words. You can use this on your Hyper-V host (Internet connectivity required): Invoke-WebRequest raw.githubusercontent.com/Microsoft/Virtualization-Documentation/master/hyperv-tools/Nested/Enable-NestedVm.ps1 -OutFile ~/Enable-NestedVm.ps1 ~/Enable-NestedVm.ps1 -VmName or you can just open the script, copy the content in a .ps1 file and execute it on your host: raw.githubusercontent.com/Microsoft/Virtualization-Documentation/master/hyperv-tools/Nested/Enable-NestedVm.ps1
After selecting the hyper v role to be installed, the machine asks for a restart. When it restarts it fails the installation but gives no meaningful information as to why. "Failed to install the feature...". Any ideas?
Hi IMRAN, Nested Virtualization is still not recommended to be in production environments. From there comes the advantages for developing: 1. Create virtual machines within a virtual host for testing. 2. Containers feature
Hi Marwan you can use this as reference - ua-cam.com/video/l-DaT3Z46WI/v-deo.html Containers and Docker are a bit gray area still, I need more time to check them out and create content.
Hi Nick, First, thank you sincerly for this great job and I wish à lot of success for this super channel. Now, I'm a newbie with Win Server and Hyper-V and I have a little problem if you (or some one here) can help : I have a host with 2 physical NICs and 4 ports 1Gb/s on each one. I have 4 VM on this host and I want to dedicate exclusively one physical port to each VM, How can I do it? Thanks.
Hi , Good video, i tried and enabled nested virtualization, created vm in hyper-v host and created internal switch for vm, once i start vm , vm network shows up like unidentified network in network and sharing center? ,how to get network in vm so i can use same network adapter for nested vm, please help me
HI Pavan, Internal switch will connect your host with the VM. Private switch will provide only internal connectivity for the VMs. The public switch will use your host network card to bridge and connect to the external world.
Hi Ninin, if I understand you correctly you should have no problems sharing data both from VM to Host and via versa. You can also join the Hyper-V host server to a domain on a VM working on the host.
Thanks for this guide and many of your other guides. As part of my internship at an IT company I have to set up a testing environment and this is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks Nick. I love your videos helping me great deal to catch up with 2016.

Thanks for your reply bro. do you have an idea about installing on any other versions of ESXI on Hyper-v if yes how and on AMD-V processor.

You are the man! Nice job! ❤️😍 sweet.
Thanks for your work
Thank you for your support, Ayman. Support like that keeps me going !
Thank you very much Nick, appreciate the work you've put in, it really helped me.

Thanks for the reply, when you say split do you mean get a New server with a Server OS and install and run SQL database on that server or what?
Thanks for this post. Would you just explain virtual switch for nested vm. Network settings for nested vm.
Thanks

Hey Nick!! Where do i get that script to enable virtualization feature for nested virtualization.
hi very good video, can I do nested with AMD Rysen Epic, etc or only with Intel? And if it is yes how?
Hello Nick :)
Thankx alot for this fully orgnized tutorial
Keep it up :)
Greetings
After selecting the hyper v role to be installed, the machine asks for a restart. When it restarts it fails the installation but gives no meaningful information as to why. "Failed to install the feature...". Any ideas?
A clean install of windows server cured this problem.
is this method is applicable to AWS instances as well as windows 2016?
Can You please explain advantages of Nested Virtualization if any.
Hi IMRAN, Nested Virtualization is still not recommended to be in production environments. From there comes the advantages for developing:
1. Create virtual machines within a virtual host for testing.
2. Containers feature
Thank you sir! :)
How Deep we can Go? I mean from first HyperV machine, what is the maximum can be Nested one after another Virtualization
what specs do i need to have nesting virtualization on my computer that will do vm workstation and virtual box.
Good work thx
Thank you CzasNaNet, much appreciated!
Can you please do a video on how to remote to nano using power shell, and how to create containers and Docker
