      A NO from me
I had the Pixel 7 Pro and i was really underwhelmed
      No Dolby Atmos
      Speakers where meh
Cams made me crazy with Overprocessing and Autofokus issues
Tensor 2 tends to heat up and battery life was also just average.
My display had weird color tints and more
      Now i have a Nothing phone 2 and it's so much better i can't believe it ^^''
I mean you ask about the 6 Pro
But i promise if you are used to other phones than pixels don't try!

Don't own the Pixel 6 Pro personally, part of the 8th gen Pixel gang. But it is a nice insight from someone who has ACTUALLY used the phone, and is not just listing specs and data from a few days of barely using it. Cheers from the ChairLeg community.
Nice video for sure, and I can't wait to see your Z Flip 3 video! Especially since Google I/O is coming up.

I bought one yesterday solely because I need a better camera while travelling and nothing beats the portability, processing power and battery life of a smartphone. For €250 it's an incredible piece of tech. Remembering back to my smartphone 10 years ago, it's nothing short of a miracle!

I haven't used the Pixel 7a, but it seems like a pretty good phone to get if cheap. The Pixel 7 is also up there if you care for updates, though the screen and camera are better on the Pixel 6 Pro

Upgraded from a 6 pro to a 7 pro (broke my display again and the repair costs are quite high for an already older phone) and I definitely found the speakers to be much better on the 6 pro. I also liked the results of the 4x telephoto more than the 5x on the 7 Pro. The stabilization irritates me.

I would entirely avoid any Tensor G1 powered device (I've owned both the 6 and 6a). I say this due to their extremely shitty modems and overheating shenanigans. Go for the pixel 7 since it has a new and improved modem and wayy better power efficiency. On my new 7a, the modem actually works all the time and has never overheated to the point where it's unusable. My pixel 6 I bought at launch was an embarrassment of a "flagship". Calls dropping constantly, poor network reception, and the Wi-Fi range was just ridiculous. My 6a wasn't as bad but still had modem issues.
Bottom line is: Stay far far away from the first generation of Tensor. Rant over.

I just went from the 6a to the 8 but must say I loved my 6a it was my intro into the pixel experience im very happy that i chose to stay with Google, but i will say thst 5g isn't the best everywhere i go especially in my grans house were it is awful. Even other places where I get genuinely good 5G it drops to 4G. So that is one thing that Google definitely needs to work on. No fix.

I've had 4 Pixel 6 Pros now and all haven't really had any modem issues up here in Canada (after dropping to 4G/LTE only). Used the phone as my daily for months on end without issue though YMMY. My Pixel 7 Pro and 8 Pro were also fine

    • @mjjones1045

@@adrianstech if you have to drop the phone to 4g,/lte then you did have problems. In 2021, no phone should be having issues with connectivity. Stop being a fan boy. I had the 7 pro as well and the connectivity was improved , but still not on par with the other phones. Your word is not credible. I had 2 pixel 6's, pixel 6 pro briefly and the 7 pro. Be honest and stop being a fan.

    • @adrianstech
      @adrianstech  6 місяців тому

@mjjones1045 To be fair, 5G NSA/SA still isn't the best up here in Canada (and as an example, full 5G SA or NSA hasn't even rolled out to the entirety of Metro Vancouver), and I've even had some 5G SA/NSA connection issues on a TELUS LG Velvet 5G, a T-Mobile Unlocked OnePlus 8T+ 5G and a Unlocked Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G (and many more devices). Even on my Pixel 7 Pro or Pixel 8 Pro, I've had the occasional blip here or there which lines up with friends' experiences with 5G in Canada, on iPhones like the 13 or 15 Pro Max, or even other Pixels, like the 6A, and Samsung devices like the S23+. This is more of an issue with how my country (Canada) is rolling out 5G, which again, isn't the best. Some of the people I've talked to in random Discord servers I'm in also corroborate the same thing in Canada even across the entire country (Toronto/GTA) on their iPhones with 5G. This is not just an experience here that I'm facing in Vancouver, Canada.
Also, keep in mind that with 5G comes multiple different technologies. There's 5G NSA, which piggybacks of the pre-existing 4G/LTE networks, and then there's 5G SA, which is its own separate network and that breaks off into both Sub-6, which is more of a reliable 5G and can cover longer distances, and mmWave, the blazing fast 5G which covers shorter distances. This is what you normally see being rolled out to many major US cities. In Canada, and many other places in the world (like South Korea, Italy, and even in more rural or sparse places in the US), Sub-6 is the dominant 5G technology that is being used, especially in Canada on all 3 major carriers. 3 out of the 4 Pixel 6 Pros I had are Canadian units (which makes sense considering that I live in Canada), and lacked any antenna for mmWave. I took apart one of the Canadian units and can even verify that the connectors on the motherboard are missing, compared to the US unit. One of my Pixel 6 Pros was a Google Fi Unlocked unit from the US, and it had mmWave, and the range, speed, etc etc wasn't affected by having it as the technology isn't used here in Canada.
Personally, I think dropping a phone to 4G/LTE is perfectly reasonable, you save battery and in many places, especially in cities, you can still pull very fast speeds. I can pull my usual 300-500mbps download and 50-100mbps upload on LTE+ on TELUS and ROGERS. Saving battery, and getting pretty similar speeds is something a lot of people care for, especially since the Pixel 6 Pro isn't the most battery-friendly phone (especially in 2024). Also do keep in mind that 5G has not been officially rolled out to people with Pixels outside the designated 38 regions that Google supports, and this also applies to VoLTE/VoWiFi. Some of the countries that have proper 5G support and can receive 5G signal on Pixels include Australia, Belguim, Canada, Japan, the US, and a handful of others. One of my friends in Russia cannot connect to 5G on his Pixel 7a because Google hasn't enabled support for it, and another friend with 5G on all of their devices says that 5G is essentially unable and garbage in Greece (OnePlus 8/9/10 series, iPhones, Samsung phones, Zenfones, etc etc, this guy swaps phones every 2 weeks).
Those reasons are why I consider 5G not a necessity for a phone going into 2024. It's a nice to have, sure, and it will be 100% more important as we move further into the 2020s, but right now as it stands, many places don't have the best 5G coverage, or aren't even supported for 5G by Pixels, so I write it off as not being necessity. From what I'd assume, you're in the US where 5G has consistently had a better rollout and all major carriers support it (both Sub-6 and mmWave). In many other places around the world, 5G isn't even available as their country hasn't started rolling out the technology yet, and will be many years before they even get a resemblance of a functional 5G network. Even on my Pixel 8 Pro, I still downgrade to exclusively using 4G/LTE in many scenarios where I will be going to places where reception is spotty, or if I need to squeeze more battery out of my phone. Some of my friends on iPhone and other Android devices do the same as well because even in a big city like Vancouver, there are going to be deadspots for 5G in places like tunnels, shopping malls, or even going into supermarkets.
You can call me a Pixel fan all you want, it genuinely does not matter, I'm typing this on a Flip 3 5G, and swap SIMs and devices quite frequently, but I hope you can take this explanation on why I think it's not important and understand that 5G is not the be all end all thing that many carriers glorify it to be. In the video I uploaded, I talk about my own personal experiences with the phone over the last 14 months with it, and it's been pretty solid minus the occasional Google software issues, or the occasional times where the reception isn't the best (especially on the 6 Pro), but I still will go by my word and will continue to use my Pixel 6 Pro as a hotspot device with 5G disabled (through an eSIM) and enjoy it as it's been one of the best devices I've used in a long time, right up there with the Galaxy Note 9.
And again, YMMY (your mileage may vary)
