This wears beautifully on me. On me it’s mostly cinnamon, peach, pepper, oak moss, amber, ylang, and sometimes I get rose. One thing about Mitsouko...I adore it in cool weather, but can’t stand it in warm weather, it wears completely different on me depending on weather. I’m sad that you didn’t like it, but glad you were honest😉

I'm so grateful to hear that Mitsy still has her fangs...I would have thought the IFRA would have withered her to a sparse echo of her former glory. Always remember never forget Mitsy is a beast...she wears you. I own over fifty Guerlain fragrances in my armoire, and am a BIG lilac guy so I adore Mitsy's denseness and seamless construction. To each their own, my friend, all the more pour moi! Fragrant hugs, JR xox

My best favourite but I only have vintage versions. It wasn’t for me first time around but it came to me later. I get tons of compliments per wear.
Keep trying and wear it close to your heart.

I have such a severe adoration for Mitsouko. My wife has a similar take on it as you do, suffocating. But for me it’s really something to be admired. Mitsouko and L’heure Bleu were the two fragrances that started me down this deep dark journey that is fragrance. Guerlain is my favorite house by far. I appreciate your opinion on it non the less.

An honest take, appreciated Pep. This has been on my to try list for years, along with other female Guerlains. I wonder if I'd like them.

I find that with many classic Guerlain feminines, i prefer the EDTs. They are, in general, less dense and a bit more manageable. While the EDPs, including Mitsouko, are beautiful, their toilette counterparts are more enjoyable to wear in my opinion.

    • @TheScentinel

You know, i have definitely found that with other Guerlains as well.

I've had Mitsouko for a few months. At first I didn't care much for it, it smelled too sour on my skin. Plus I wasn't acquainted with chypres. Now and am and I like it. It creates an atmosphere. I suppose not everyone will like that atmosphere or vibe. Plus according to how little or how much you spray it may affect your view of it. Thanks for the insight!

Love Mitsouko EDP along with L'Heure Bleue & Jicky. Gurlain also my most represented house in my wardrobe with 13 and no doubt more to come. We cant like them all mate, on to the next one for you :)

Same. With perfumes I hate they stay forever (trough showers, a good scrubbing etc.) Perfumes I love, that actually stick around, are hard to find. 👀

I've never actually smelled the edp but I have the edt and thoroughly enjoy it. Can't say that I wear it very often (almost never actually), but it's one of the first scents that stretched my comfort zone as a fairly modern dude. The spices used are just a joy on my skin despite many of my male friends not agreeing. 😛 Grandma corpse vibes according to them. 😂

This is the most confounding fragrance I think I've ever dealt with. Sometimes it's beautiful on me in EDP and sometimes it feels too austere or too fruity. I finally decided months ago that it wasn't for me and I put it away to gift it to someone else down the line. Today for some reason I pulled it out just to sniff it again and I love it again. I don't know about tomorrow, but today it's perfect.

I suspect i would have the same experience ifbi had cont8nued to wear it. But i have found something that gives me the tgings i like about Mitsouko, and none of the discordant things. It may not be as complex, but Rochas Femme is wonderful fruity chypre

I have to agree ... Mitsy and I don't see eye to eye, although it has been a long time since last wearing it so I might try it again. The same with those fragrances I don't like ... they are the most persistent of all usually, bloody annoying!😃

I'm sorely lacking in the classic Guerlain arena. There are a few on my must-sniff list (Heritage, Shalimar, etc.) .. but what I've smelled of the newer releases, I haven't been blown away. I've got a good-sized order from Decant Boutique on route now. They're one of my favorite places to sample from.

Perfectly said, Pep. As I’ve mentioned before, you and I are on a similar path these days. I too have been on the same Guerlain kick, which naturally has brought me to this historically significant fragrance. I sniffed through a decant and was still intrigued, so I ended up buying a bottle last year at a good price. However, like you, I’m struggling to really appreciate it. It’s become a scent I sometimes wear to bed or spray on curtains. Others have had better luck with the fragrance in different settings (I’ve yet to try it in the heat), but it’s on thin ice with me at this point.
The good news is, the pleasant parts of Mitsouko (especially the balance of light and dark) have inspired me to seek out my favorite Chypre worthy of being in my wardrobe. I’ve selected a handful that are well regarded and I’m looking forward to seeing which will ultimately reign supreme for me.

    • @pmrp12
      @pmrp12 4 роки тому

Great question. I already have Mitsouko, New York Intense, and Civet, but I’d like to try:
      Chypre Palatin
      Chypre-Siam
      Tabac Verte
      Kolonya
      Derby
      Antaeus
Any other must-tries? Especially on the mossier side?

I know what you mean about the lack of space. But I've been trying lately to be more open to these chockablock dense extremely blended perfumes. Because I think there's something to explore and appreciate here.. there's a perspective different to mine... people love this so I'm interested to sense it the way they do. But yeah, I do in the end love my right amount of space between notes, enough blending but enough distinction too.

    • @TheScentinel

It really is just this middle part that ruins it for me. Unfortunately, it just got worse for me the more i wore it. I would still try the other concentrations if i had a chance. I suspect Guerlain wont send me free bottles now😁

Wow. Didnt see that one coming 😁 Patou's que sais-je? And etat libre's the afternoon of a faun have strong similarities but are also distinct. Patou (the 90s version) is more polished and a tad sweeter ( and less crowded/dense). Faun is greener and rosier. Love mitsy but it is demanding indeed and i can only wear it under particular circumstances, weather and moodwise...i would be interested in your take on patou 's (according to andy tauer one of only ten scents any perfumista worth their salt should smell in their lifetime) and faun. 🤔😎😊
