This will always be 'the' version of the song for me. I bought the album in early 1984 and for a long time it was the only version of the song I knew, so it just feels right to me.
Me three. I was an early convert to Madonna and remember paying over the odds for 12in imports to the UK. This to me, will always be the definitive version although, the replacement has grown on me over the years but not surpassed the original.
This is my favorite version of Burning Up too....I saw the video on MTV in late 1983, and went out and bought the album the next day. I didn't know there was another version till I heard it about a year later
Once again this original album version got overlooked on the digital issuing of the single. Shame! It's the only one I knew for years! One for the fans I guess.
I bought The First Album in the 80s with the horrid video version and I simply hated Burning up for a long time. Then at the beginning of the 90s I got my hands on the Uk-release of Angel with this version of it as a B-side and I couldn't believe my ears - loved it! (The 12" version/japanese 7" still the best for me, though). Then, finally, a few months ago I managed to get my hands on a first release of "Madonna" with this version on it. A dream come true! (I had always been afraid to make a mistake and buy a later re-release containing the much hated video version, once again. In that case it'd have been a double nightmare rather than a dream 😂)
Haven’t heard this version in ages. It’s so good. It really marries the feel of the demo with the punch of the one we hear more of. Too bad they didn’t release this on the digital releases.
This is the best version of Burning Up. It's more crisp and I love the synth stab at the beginning and the hissing throughout makes it that much sexier!
Wow!!!! Never realized the original pressing of the first albums version of Burning Up is so different!!!! All of the other pressings have the version that most people know.
By far the superior version. They could have at least put it on as a bonus track when they reissued the first album but NO we HAD to have the remix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite artist doing my favorite version of my favorite song! Absolutely love it!! This was the song I used to audition for my first job as a drag queen in 1984...I got the job!🧡💜💖💚💛❤💙
I have seen the first impression of the album called Lucky Star, those impressions were sent to Zimbabwe and it had burning up version of 3:41…. Then they changed the 4:51 version still with LP title of Lucky Star, these were sent to South Africa. They just changed the cover with Madonna name but vinyl has the title name of Lucky Star. The release of vinyl for USA had Lucky Star name removed and with burning up version of of 4:51 and then changed to 3:41 in the next impressions …. 🤷🏻♂️
Actually, you would think, but it's kind of a different situation. This version playing in the video is the original, true album version. The original single mix is the 12" version, there's also a 7" edit of this and they are the single mixes. The one in the music video (and the re-issue of the album) which is probably the most popular almost like it's own video mix. So have 12" Version, 7" Version, Album Version, Video Mix/New Album Version.
This is actually the ORIGINAL version of Burning Up, available on the first US pressing of the album + japanese pressings + european 1985 reissues of the album as "The First Album". It's also available on some US cassettes + EU cassettes for the 85 reissue of the 1st album. Also as a b-side for the UK 7" of "ANGEL".
I always wondered if the Burning Up video when filmed had intended on using the 12" version or this version as the soundtrack. We all know that they ended up using the video mix as we know it, but I wonder if that was an afterthought?
This is the version that was on the US release of the album when it first came out. "Everybody" was actually the first song played on the radio, at least in NY, so the minute the album dropped I ran out and grabbed it because of that song. I acquired another copy of the album a few years later (I wore the thing out) and was shocked that "Burning Up" had been changed to the guitar intro version, which I disliked. If you ever want the vinyl, look for the 1983 album release that is 4:48 in length, not the 3:41 version which is the later one. Many people don't even know that there are two versions of this album. It made a search on ebay very frustrating because many sellers don't photograph the label on the LP, and the sleeve has no time information listed on it.
I have the album on vinyl with this version, i really dont like the remixes with the extra guitar over the top-it spoils it for me, and no one i mentioned this to, knew what i was on about 🤣
In terms of curiosity, this is interesting but sounding overproduced with unnecessary overdub effects, as if trying to disguise the track's weaknesses rather than building up to its potential - with many bits melting down in the process, left somewhere in the background. The 3:45 version is way better with a its minimal, stripped down arrangement, fitting in better with the rest of the album's tracks.
the remade one had more adrenaline and better build up between the music and the lyrics. It also had more bass. This track despite being the true original doesn't built up any excitement but it sounds very slick though. both are good but the remade sounds more original while the original sound like a remix. they had it backward. ha ha ha ...
is this a rare madonna cd now in the digtal age when i drink water june 19th 2021 kendra bethune asking a young black woman who wear's sandals and jeans and watch cop dramas and life time hi sean now when i was looking up trevor pennick o-town
@johnrroberts7900 3 minutes ago It's the original, that's why - it's superior to the later 'official' US version. All the sexual urgency and single-mindedness is gone on the latter, drowned out by the pop blandishment (including Madonna's voice). And what's with the electric guitar on the replacement? Ridiculously out of place - is it Madonna or a hair metal band? The Yanks have obviously never heard of improving something to death.
This will always be 'the' version of the song for me. I bought the album in early 1984 and for a long time it was the only version of the song I knew, so it just feels right to me.
same!
Me too. It's a crime that it was replaced with the single edit on all subsequent editions of the album.

Best version of this stunning song!!! Prefer it more than the 3.45 - version issued on the rereleases of "Madonna" back in 1984
The BEST version!!!!! UK vinyl album & UK b side to Angel
My favorite artist doing my favorite version of my favorite song! Absolutely love it!! This was the song I used to audition for my first job as a drag queen in 1984...I got the job!🧡💜💖💚💛❤💙
Allright
Good quality needle drop! Wish they'd re-release this version digitally some day...
40th anniversary next year. Def could /should be a bonus track!
@@duane_313 once again this 'lost version' was overlooked. Sadface
this song went to #3 on the dance charts in 1983!!!

This is the version she played live on UK's The Tube from Manchesters legendary Hacienda night club, hosted by the late Paula Yates ❤
This is my favourite version of the song! It's actually the original mix, whereas the 3:45 version of the re-issues is technically the "single mix".

Mark Lo Surdo now I’m confused lol.
@@MagneticElectric_Mark The video was released before the album, I think.
I agree for me it is more authentic than the later album version
This is definitely a rockier version of the song.
hi, from Brazil here and this is the version of pressed LP here too. love this guitar and this version
I’ve loved this track since first heard it in 1985 as UK b-side to Angel 7” single. Only just realised how much it sounds like Beat It.
Wow. It's so different! But I can understand why they decided to make a new version. It sounds like a demo. But that guitar parts is really amazing!
The version used in the video is the definitive version that everyone knows and remembers. This version is ok.
I’ve been a fan for 30 years and this is my first time hearing this! I can’t believe it. Loved it! Thank you for posting it!

すっげーかっこいい!!Burning Upじゃん!
this version should be on the album celebration
pro tip: watch series on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Zachary Cohen Yea, been watching on flixzone for years myself :)
Best version, 83 pressing was much better than 84 release of album.
Loooove this version! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
VERY REAL POPPPPP Very MADONNAAAAA 1983 AMOOOOOOO
🤨More like 1982.
I always wondered if the Burning Up video when filmed had intended on using the 12" version or this version as the soundtrack. We all know that they ended up using the video mix as we know it, but I wonder if that was an afterthought?
Damn, this is way superior. Japan always get the good stuff.

Interesting and fun but I like the single/video version more.

This is the first album version?
Yes!!!!!!!!!
Was this available on an early CD pressing or just on vinyl?
I have only ever seen it on vinyl.
Only vinyl
great what turntable are you using
It's an Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB turntable. Details are in the description of the song.
Thank goodness it was switched for the single version. This sounds like a demo and doesn’t go with the rest of the album.
Well they switched it with the video version. The single mix is an even different version: ua-cam.com/video/wtQFKerXzxk/v-deo.html
