Without giving anything away i think Gigabyte still has a lot of potential for entertainment for S7 :) Also working on completely new drive base under the shell is hard, you cant really practice with these huge bots anywhere but the battlebox.

RIPperoni out here scoring a 5 in damage and a flat zero in control, but talk about leaving an impression. I have high hopes for this machine if they can get that counter-rotating flywheel sorted.

@@Cheesecannon25 the bent wedge meant that point of contact with the floor wasn't there. turning right wasn't a problem b/c that opposing wedge was intact. when it tried to turn left, it went crazy. a really good view of that is at 1:50. even when it tried to reverse and needed that wedge, again it started to lose control. watch the last two minutes again and notice every right turn is okay, every left turn or reverse relying on that third point of contact is a disaster. the design relies on that wedge for stability. if you're referring to them turning the weapon off to spare the battery, that was in the closing seconds after it started to smoke.

The contra flywheel is one of those "why didn't anyone else think of that" solutions to a problem that has plagued vertical spinners for so long. Incredible bot, and when it was on you could see why the flywheel was such an inspired design. There are obviously some teething issues to sort, but I felt this was a very strong debut, and I think we will see a lot of flywheel technology in the next season as more teams latch on to it's capabilities.
It's been done a couple of times before at smaller weight scales (Hound comes to mind at NHRL) and once at heavyweight scale (Counter Revolution worked pretty well at Robogames, not so much vs Tombstone). The magic thing Ripperoni did was make the counter flywheel smaller and encased so they could spin at higher RPM (not limited by the 250mph tip speed) countering the heavier weight/larger moment of inertia of the slower spinning main weapon.
This was my favorite fight of the 1st episode without question. Gruff was actually dominant for the first time in a long time and RipPeroni was entertaining as all heck with the pizza theme and that lovely pirouette it did! 🤣

I think RIPeroni is a great machine, it stood out that its disc is durable and seems solid in structure, its disc began to touch the ground a lot and jumped, it suffered a little frontal damage and began to hit the ground, it solved that I think it will be a Great machine, we have yet to see the resistance of that rear disc, at first glance if it receives a direct attack it seems weak, but it is to be seen, RIPeroni could be the heavy son of Backlash who in his time was compared to a Pizza cutter.
RIPperoni is a very fun design but clearly has some issues, namely tipping to the left once the forks are bent causing the big vert to frequently smack the floor, not only slowing it down but also making it very hard for RIPperoni to move under control.
First off, I want a compilation of RIPperoni’s matches, but with only the Spider-Man pizza theme. Second off, this is the first time in battlebots history where someone decided to emote mid-fight XD

Ripperoni has the makings of a real contender with how durable and fast he is. Just need more stability and you’ll have the recipe for one killer pizza pie! Maybe they can modify it into a hammer saw so it has a better chance of getting back upright
I have yet to see anyone use fire in anything more than an ameturish way. Is there some undisclosed rule against using flamethrower when pinning someone against the boards??
Not a terrible showing from a rookie bot, but they were clearly behind the 8-ball early on after the first few exchanges. Losing that counter-rotating flywheel mid-fight can have some nasty effects, but it makes for great TV. Gruff proving once again that it is a tough bot to KO, though appeared to be limping at the end.
Dang, I thought the control points were for keeping the other bot where you want them, not for keeping yourself out of the air for more than five seconds. XD

Props to RIPperoni's weapon durability. Despite all the bouncing around and crashing into things, that disk kept spinning the whole time.
Even Tombstone's weapon died after a while of thrashing! :P I was impressed that despite all that, Ripp kept moving! I love them so much.
