I've got 2 tractors a 51 H & 48 C they both had the gas tank tank taken of and scraped with a long brush what I could reach.
They don't really have rust, just old fuel deposit, on bottom .I've rinsed wit boiling water, ( 1x vinegar soaked) and like yours, stops in the field over and over, and I have to blow back on the line into tank. I get fuel flow until 5 min later and I'm doing it again.
It's almost like there's a cork in there. so my idea is to blow back with a camera maybe a borescope and see if I can see the
particle acting as a cork in each tractor after it plugs in the field. other wise I just keep having the same object bothering me, over and over

What I ended up doing was putting a stand pipe in the top of the sediment bowl to raise up a inch or so
So that it’s not pulling the trash off the bottom

You said 1940 . Chances are that it didn't come with battery starter. Wired for lights only. Regulator installed with wire modification.

The way I understand it is that a tractor with a foot pedal starter should be factory electric start and one with a push button on the side of the steering post is a retrofit
obviously someone could have added the factory parts later but in this tractors case I don’t think so

Always something with an old rig. If it's not there yet, it will be. Sounded sweet while it lasted. BLESSINGS!

It runs really good and seams like it’s a low hour machine the steering is really tight and the clutch is really crisp I really like it compared to both my M’s they are pretty high hour tractors
