Ellen lives in a weird parallel reality. There were clocks in every class I ever attended from kindergarten onwards, even my literal boomer dad struggles with refolding maps, and actually there's A LOT of people my age (20) and younger on my campus who are into things that she thinks we've never encountered. The photography club on my campus is full of people who collect and repair old cameras and develop their own film, cooking classes are always full the day registration for classes open (bc no one's parents teach them how to cook), we make up the majority of the people at bookstores around town, and there's a swing dance revival club on my campus. Out here in the real world, people have always liked things from the past. There's no reason for Ellen to hate us. We like the same things. We're just not hissing at people who don't like those things, because we have that thing boomers always lack - manners.

It's ok. Most Boomers are so out of touch these days and they are fearful that the "Modern Age" is destroying their world. I'm a Gen X'er and I belong to a lot of plastic model building groups with Boomers in them. The Boomers are always saying "The hobby is dead. Kids play on their phones and don't build anything! It's not like it was when we were kids in the 1960's!". I owned a hobby shop for years and most of the model builder kids (Gen Z) like to build Gundam and Warhammer figures or they are in the hobby because their parents are teaching them or they simply want to be creative outside of the digital world. Also, if the hobby was dead, we would be seeing shut down notices from the manufacturers instead of new product announcements. Try telling that to the Boomers and they deny everything you are trying to tell them. then the next month, they start complaining that the hobby is dead all over again.

Ellen or nobody in that audience actually believes that this girl is dumb and lazy because she cant use boomer technology. This comment section is manufacturing outrage out of its own mind.
Ellen and her audience is fully aware that these old technologies are outdated and useless today, she even joked about it right at the beginning. Ellen starts with talking about Encyclopedias, how they were these giant books that everyone used to have, but they completely disappeared nowadays because internet makes it so easy to get that information. She said that she wanted to know more about what happened to the encyclopedias, so she googled it. *audience laughs*. Ellen finds out that set of encyclopedias cost 800 dollars today and she jokes that you can get them at 100% off because encyclopedias are outdated and its all available on the internet for free. convinietly that part is taken out of this video.

The worst part about Ellen's dumb jokes like "have you even seen one of these before???" is that you can't possibly give a good response. She's obvi asking rhetorically as a joke, so you can't just answer the question, and she'll get pissy if you actually make a joke back at her, so you're forced to just giggle awkwardly.

As someone who uses an email provider that I've literally never seen someone else use/have (besides my family of course), the composing (well I assume actually _sending,_ simply composing one would be as easy as going to Notes and writing it out) of an email is damn near impossible if I had to do it through Contacts. I'm an adult now and I still don't know how to set my email up on the email app on my phone. (Previously my dad did it once on an old iPod but then when we had to redo it later we couldn't manage, lol.) I just email through the browser, and you can't link your contacts to that.
