Speaking of Dream Theater, check out the covers they do together of “Comfortably Numb” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”
It's more than likely nowhere near the top of your list of RUSH songs due to popularity. But you should DEFINITELY listen to "Red Barchetta" EPIC My all time favorite from them hands down Us RUSH freaks change our favorite song from them every so often. But Red Barchetta is without a doubt the song i hold in the highest regard. A song that builds and builds to an absolute heart racer
this may sound cliche but for this album, the live version (the original box set Operation: Livecrime) is definitely king. It is the only album that I have ever loved the live album more than the studio.
That's the only way to listen to it. I remember driving to work, listening to this CD for the 1st time and getting chills and the hair on my arms standing up!
Cool story that I have about Queensryche: While they were touring for Rage For Order (opening for Ratt)...my cousin, myself and a big group of friends drove to Biloxi, Mississippi (from New Orleans) to see the show. Queensryche blew Ratt off of the stage. After the show, we all gathered at the Holiday Inn bar and hung out for awhile. While we were waiting for our drinks to get to our table...Geoff Tate, Chris DeGarmo and Eddie Jackson walked into the bar. Geoff and Chris were hanging out with their girlfriends/wives. Eddie Jackson walked up to our table and asked if he could sit with us at our table. Really cool guy. He sat and drank a couple of rounds with us and he didn't even know us.
Saw them (minus Geoff Tate, of course) right before COVID-19 shut everything down in a SRO. Maybe 400 or so people there. Great venue and a great time. I saw them way back in the day a couple times, too :)
@@odbear100 do you know how to read? I didn't say that the bar was in the venue. The bar was in the Holiday Inn next to the Gulf Coast Coliseum. Pay attention to details next time, please.

I am glad SOMEONE is checking out and reviewing "Revolution Calling". It's a masterpiece and, sadly, 34 years later (today is W 26 JAN 2022), the lyrics are still relevant.
Geoff Tate is absolutely the best singer I have ever heard live (I haven't seen Paul Rodgers live). It was the tour for this album and that SOB did not falter even a smidgen. Amazing. Flawless. No difference from studio to stage, except he probably sings with even more power live. As much power as Ian Gillan in his prime, and I'm a huge Gillan fan
Weirdly appropriate 32 years later, eh? I was lucky enough to see them with every tour through "Empire" (twice for "Operation: Mindcrime") and they were so tight live. My first "Mindcrime" show was in Jacksonville, Florida. The were opening for Metallica on the "... And Justice For All" tour and Metallica let them play more than 90 minutes. The next year they got to headline for "Mindcrime" and I saw them in Pensacola. They played the entire album (sound effects and video included) then spent another 30-40 minutes playing stuff from earlier albums. As a studio/session musician myself I was in heaven. If you have any interest, check out other songs from "The Warning" ("Roads to Madness" and "NM156" are great) and the criminally-underappreciated "Rage for Order". That album has so many experimental songs and maybe the best of Geoff's vocals. Just my two pennies. Stay safe everyone. Cheers from Florida.

I also saw the Operation Mindcrime tour in ‘89 in Savannah when they opened for Metallica. I took my older daughter to Jacksonville (Florida Theater) in ‘06 to see them perform Mindcrime I and II. They blew me away both times.
I just stumble by your channel , an outstanding reaction . . This album is a masterpiece . If you can do this album in it's entirety it would be amazing . Possibly post reaction of each song over a period of days .The abrupt ending is because there is a dialogue between each song setting up the story line .
When I first encountered Queensryche (back in '88), I knew nothing of the band or its music...saw them open for Metallica. This was the first song that really grabbed me. And I've been hooked every since.
Its a stand alone MASTERPIECE and way ahead of its time as far as the ideas, lyrics, social and political statements. I wore that cassette OUT in 1988. The other thing that I don't hear people say is, on side B, listen to how much louder and pronounced the BASS is. No metal/Hard rock band was doing that in those days...that gave it a groove that just added to an already superb sound.....it truly is a beautiful work of ear-ART.
Jeff is hands down the best 80's vocalist. He would be incredible even at lower octaves but his range within the higher octaves is just amazing. Flawless. Im fortunate enough to have seen them live right when their popularity was starting to explode. They were an opening act for AC/DC. I had heard of them prior to the concert but I wouldnt say I knew much about them until after i saw them live. AC/DC was amazing as well.
I saw Queensryche October 91 in Oakland during their Building empires tour. It was an amazing concert. I also got to see them during their promised land tour at the gorge amphitheater (Came out for three encores!!) in Washington state in 95. Tate hands down has the best vocals ive heard ever in concert and ive been to a lot. I wish you guys could have seen them live. I think that last concert in 95 is what gave me tinnitus lol. Great reaction guys.
Totally agree, best voice..certainly during their amazing run but one of the best voices ever...now on "Mindcrime" between each song there is part of the story being told which leads right into the next song..I'd luv to see you two react to the entire album
lol - and i am proud to say Jeff and I were born in the same southgerman city of Stuttgart. Yes Jeff is a beast when it comes to singing. This album proved what he was born for.
First time I listened to this album first song to the last on vinyl was in a room with filled with candles.......the entire album is just a mind blowing listen
... or "80s Geoff is the best vocalist". His story/lyrics, by the way. Music by Wilton. If you want to watch a bunch of singers (Tate, Dio, Halford...) and guitarists (Malmsteen, Lynch, Schon, Murray-Smith..) from that era, the song "Stars" was part of a charity project (like "We are the world" or "Do they know it's Christmas", but metal). It allows you to compare the different approaches to a basic idea of some 80s metal musicians.
I always used to listen to Some Songs from this Album Individually and thought they were Good, but I Only realized how Great they are When I listened to the Full Album.
You guys are doing the right thing by playing the official video instead of live performance videos that were filmed in a concert. The official video remains true to what is on the record. The DVD they released of performing the album live, the songs do not sound as good is they do on the audio CD. The official videos for the songs that were released to MTV for Operation Mindcrime are the ones you want to react to because they sound just like the CD. I think they released ,4 or 5 videos to MTV from Operation Mindcrime. Eyes of a Stranger, Revelation Calling, Operation Mindcrime, I Don't Believe In Love, and Breaking the Silence
In 1987 Geoff Tate convinced his band to work on his idea for the project. From looking at the writing credits its looks like once all the members where IN they all lended a hand or a word to the project, Jeff taking the lion share of writing credits. Jeff Recalls during his time spent in Montreal members of the Québécois, a Quebec separatist political movement, were often talking in private and public about their views. You could say the city, heck even the US, was a buzz with talk of Quebec succeeding from Canada. Jeff wrote "The idea for Operation: Mindcrime came in a flood one night as I sat on a well-worn wooden bench in the back of a Catholic Church" Jeff went on to write "I had stayed behind in snow-covered Montreal in the end of the previous tour and the city and its people were my muse. One night in a bar called St. Supice, I met the man who became Dr. X. The cold, calculating, vicious personality of this man still makes me feel uneasy as I write this. His character and alleged involvement with a terrorist organization coupled with other personalities I had met on my travels truly were inspiration for this record."
I got to see them perform this album start-to-finish twice. Tate is just as good live. I’m down for watching if you do the whole album sometime, lol! There are so many gods songs, and the story is cool and intriguing. If you want to know the best, most underrated, never-heard-of Queensryche song, check out Queen of the Reich from their eponymous EP. They were young - Tate was like 23 when they recorded it, and is range is amazing.
When I first discovered Queensrÿche in 1988 it was this album. I was mesmerized and addicted to Operation Mindcrime like a drug. This was the heaviest music I was into at the time, and like the character Nikki, I was brainwashed. Except not by Dr. X, but by this incredible band called Queensrÿche. Then later I went down the rabbit hole, that led me to this vampire futuristic world called Rage For Order. It was like Terminator meets Dracula in the Matrix.
Queensryche was very progressive political band. Left-wing. I wasn't shocked to hear Geoff tate say he supported socialism. This entire album was awesome
I agree with your comments during the reaction when you said that Tate is the 80s vocalist and that this song is more relevant now than ever. I would go further by saying that Tate is the best metal singer, closely followed by Bruce Dickinson.
Lmao you guys are just sweethearts love yahs so much ha ha Jimmie is so sweet and funny love how yahs laugh I do the same when shit rocks I just wow holy and lol for reals and I way like the Roche or puff the magic I mean dream theatre lol 😜
This album tells the story of a young man Nicky who gets brainwashed into becoming an assassin for an underground revolution controlled by Dr X, the story starts with Nicky in a mental asylum suddenly remembering everything that has happened, the deaths of Father William and Sister Mary and his struggle to get away from Dr X and his revolution, it's one heII of a story, in my view the best concept album ever made.
Operation Mindcrime is a musical masterpiece. It has a huge cult following. I would recommend to anyone that is not familiar with the album to do some research on it first because it's a concept album, which is very much like a movie script with characters. Do some research and get to know the characters and the storyline. They are twisted people in a twisted plot and you will be amazed at how Queensryche brings these complex characters to life. It is the ultimate rock opera. I didn't get it the first time I listened to it, but that second time, it hit me, I became addicted to it which is funny because the story revolves around a young man, a Nunn, and a Priest who all have addictions in the shadow of a mafia type leader of an underground revolution with a vision to overthrow the American government and burn the White House Down. It comes complete with a who done it murder and court ordered admissions into a mental institution. When what was just supposed to be business and lust turns to insatiable passionate love that is found on a young man's journey to get away from guilt. Take the journey from the Call of Revolution to the Eyes of a Stranger. Take the dangerous ride and you decide..... Who killed Sister Mary Suite?
If you haven't heard that already (couldn't find it on your channel), check out Queensryches song Roads to Madness from their first album. It's quite progressive, but it's an amazing track.
Operation Mindcrime is the greatest concept album of all time and Queensryche in the 80's are one of the greatest bands that ever existed. Just my opinion.
Check out Jorn Lande - "ON and ON" (MSG cover) he finished the Heaven and Hell tour for DIO who died while on tour with the Sabbath members. He sang for Ingwe Malmsteen's band. He is known for covering a lot of GREAT singers songs ie .. (Coverdale, Gillian, Soto, Barden, DIO) and his original's Master Plan - "Time to be King" featuring Mike Terrana on drums
loved the reaction, tnx. yes geoff at his best was hard to beat, the only ones in the 80s that could rival him apart from the obvious maiden and dio, is midnight from crimson glory. try any song from their album Transcendense...
I also have noticed from these instalments Kimmy likes a intro then a big boom so in this case please please check out the tune my eyes from the album lock up the wolves dio the guitarist rowin Roberts was sixteen at the time and selected from 5000 guitarists and is by far no slouch hands down freaking killer every tune on that album rocks lol hope to actually see your two expressions if you choose to check these suggestions out lol
I love Queensryche. I agree with what you said about their material being more relevant today. Have you heard their song NM 156. It really predicts the future. In all fairness, Geoff did say it was about George Orwell's 1984. Have you ever heard of Fates warning? If you like Queensryche you will love Fates Warning. Check out Silent Cries. Also would you plz do Pantera, the full song, Cemetery Gates. This is my 1st time on your channel. RE-SPECT
great reaction! you guys should react to gonna get close to you by queensryche from the rage for order album its one of their best in terms of creativity! would love to see what you guys think of that song!
I agree Geoff Tate is the GOAT of prog and hard rock. Now... if you haven't yet, check out Elvis from '70 in Vegas. Especially Bridge Over Troubled Water. Also, Aloha from Hawaii, doing My Way, What Now My Love, American Trilogy, and a few others. Then, I'll find out how much you 2 know about talent. I'll subscribe and look forward to more of your videos.
The only problem I have with reacting to anything from Operation: Mindcrime is that you lose something by not knowing the story. It's hard to appreciate the songs individually without knowing the story as a whole. I know there's UA-cam channels out there that have the entire album WITH lyrics. You guys should really sit down and listen to the whole album and follow the story (not necessarily as a reaction for this channel (although that'd be cool) but rather for your own benefit. O:MC is an amazing piece of artistry from beginning to end).
No truer words than these. My question is how relevant are these songs for today. Just in Operation Mindcrime" alone. Instead of "tired of all this B S they keep selling me on T V" Replace T V with the internet. Everybody using everybody making that sale. Got to make a million doesn't matter who dies, how many are perishing for that view count just in selfies alone? This is Operation Mindcrime to the nth exponential. I wonder by her reaction did it strike a chord of inner perspective here. Watch again and look at her introspection reaction.
@@AmandaBrecc I like your point about the internet lol. It would be something to have a 1988 Queensryche here in 2020, and hear what they might come up with for a concept album. I bet the sense of self-absorption would be a huge topic in the story lol.
@@irishinnish1 I would think that the concept could be how much intellectual property is being stolen by those that can peek in and do at will anything they want through these peepers we carry with us. How many ideas are taken from your living rooms, bedrooms by what judas preist called "Electric Eye", now in the palm of your hand, and everywhere else. Just so ya know I'm a dude, prolly the meanest emeffer on the tubes.
You both should review the very next song following up Revolution Calling which is the title track to the album Operation Mindcrime I believe Chris DeGarmo was the main lyricist with Tate writing a good portion of them as well.
Queensryche certainly is not the same without Chris DeGarmo as well. DeGarmo was the heart and soul of the band in my opinion. Definitely give Geoff Tate all the credit due, but certainly don't want to forget Mr. DeGarmo. Based on what has been written, Chris DeGarmo was the primary songwriter although Geoff was involved with the songwriting as well.
Geoff Tate my favorite vocalist from back in the day, very very close, and I go back and forth on who is better him or Miljenko Matijevic from Steelheart. Ask me again tomorrow and I will say Mili is my favorite lol
If you plan on watching or reacting to the whole album of Operation Mindcrime, watch the Live version Operation Livecrime. You'll have a better experience, because, you are right Geoff Tate is an amazing performer

loved the reaction, tnx. yes geoff at his best was hard to beat, the only ones in the 80s that could rival him apart from the obvious maiden and dio, is midnight from crimson glory. try any song from their album Transcendense...
Love this album and Queensryche. Try some Extreme- Do you want to play, whole hearted, get the funk out….
That ending works a lot better flowing into the next song on the album, to be sure.
I remember seeing them with Metallica on the And Justice For All tour at the Norfolk Scope in late 88 or early 89.
Back in the day every band’s requirement for a vocalist was a singer that sounded like Geoff Tate!
Prelude to OM and my favorite QR album!
DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!
These guys were modern day prophets.
We're living it now.
You guys need more subs you do a great job
Operation mindcrime is a phenomenal concept album one of their best
The phone rings at the end.
'Hello?'
Mine is Anybody Listening. My alarm is Electric Requiem.
Operation Mindcrime is an excellent concept album, fantastic track.
You guys rock. Keep it up
You both should react to the full concept album.
@@NorthTonawanda1 Yup that's me Free I am, rules let's have some which we all agree.
That benefit you and benefit me.
You both should review the very next song following up Revolution Calling which is the title track to the album Operation Mindcrime
I believe Chris DeGarmo was the main lyricist with Tate writing a good portion of them as well.
You have to listen to the full album , all the songs tie together.
Do the whole album guys !!!
A killler live performance, drop this into youtube search:
QUEENSRYCHE - My Empty Room + Eyes of a Stranger
U need to listen to the whole CD 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Before you leave queensryche...could you play..eyes of a stranger. She will like it
Queensryche certainly is not the same without Chris DeGarmo as well.
Please react to Dream Theater's Hollow Years live at Budokan. Not the studio version, the live one please!
Operation Mindcrime" best concept album with all song vids, Head Bangers Ball !
Try queensryche silent lucidity. One of my favorite songs from queensryche
And a different suggestion:
Steven Wilson's "Routine" or "Drive Home".
Check out some of their most recent material with their new singer Todd La Torre. He’s pretty good! The latest album, The Verdict is amazing!
its a message from back to the future, the future was some year ago. Please listen.
For the love of everything good check out Suite Sister Mary from Operation Livecrime.
nice music!
It's a great question, especially here in 2024: "Who DO you trust when everyone's a crook?"
This was so controversial when it came out. Queensryche knew the truth about the world we live in.
This came out in 1988 they saw the lies way back then.
Please react to the album Rage for Order. Seems like everyone has forgotten how good that album is.
Can or may I give you a suggestion for the future check out fireball ministry please and yeah man Jeff is a stallion eh lmao
