I can’t sharpen for shit. I have a few hours in over the years and I’m sure I’ll get it eventually, but I haven’t…. Thank you for providing the resources to make this shit easy. Wicked edge systems were too expensive for younger me and I will refuse to buy that ultra premium out of principle… so I was stuck w/ Chinese knockoff systems till the wicked edge patent died. I’ve done a bunch of research and it looks like WorkSharp system w/ aftermarket accessories will be my end game. Thank you for the resources you’ve provided.
The 7mm central wide clamp is very versatile but won't clamp every type of knife grind. What type of knife are you clamping in it, maybe I can help with a recommended clamping technique.
What are the advantages of this over the factory installed clamp? Can I use my 4-in veneave dog stones with this I know they said you can use 6-in stones but I'm already invested in the 4-in ones so would this be worth it still to upgrade?
Yes, you can use your 4 inch Venev stones and holder with the KakBritva clamp. The Work Sharp rod is long enough for it. The advantage of the KakBritva central wide clamp, is that it clamps flat ground and distal taper knives better than most clamp systems available. It's a huge upgrade from the regular Work Sharp clamp. KakBritva clamps are also available in various opening widths and cutout angles to suit most knife grinds that you can find.
@@777edge what would be the best clamp setup for pocket knives? that's mostly what I use this system for. For My kitchen knives I've got the Work Sharp ken onion addition with the grinder attachment which works well for me . I just want to set this up for like 3-5 inch pocket knives with all kinds of different grinds on them I've got like 150 Folding knives right now 🤪
@@j.hardesty446 Depending on the knife grinds and spine thickness, I would say a 6mm or 7mm flat (no undercut) central wide Kakbritva should work well for you. They work well for most EDC blades. As long as you don't have excessively thick blades, or excessively high angled grinds. Just make sure you try and clamp the best way possible for your knives. Sometimes directly only the FFG section of a blade works, and other times you can use one half of the split clamp on the flat ricasso /tang part of the blade and the other half of the clamp on the grind itself. You'll just have to experiment and see how each knife wants to be clamped.
@@777edge thank you, at this point I probably should have just sprung for A KME or something else with how much money I have into this worksharp 😂 oh well it's part of my journey I'll probably use this system for a while and then just upgrade the whole system eventually thanks again

I changed out for one of these, but they don't hold the knife securely, it just slips around
