  • Planting a Fuyu Persimmon is just like planting any other tree. Find a spot that meets the requirements for sun and space and put it in the ground.

    I was always told to plant the tree slight above top layer to account for settling

      That is a good plan if your soil settles a lot. Mine never has that I have noticed. I normally like to have a slight depression around the tree so I can fill it with water.

    How’s that tree doing today? Just placed an order for a 5-6 footer..

      It is looking real good. Putting of some new branches and the leaves are looking healthy. It had some fruit blossoms but those all fell off but I would rather it concentrate on growing this year anyway. So all in all I am very pleased.

    All permission. Need cold. Why back full with the top of Bermuda you took off? Unfortunately you planted it way too low. The single most important factor in assuring your tree’s health and longevity is planting it at the correct depth in the ground. The roots flaring out from the trunk must be visible at or, better yet, slightly above ground level when the tree is set in the planting hole. This assures that the spreading roots will be close enough to the soil surface to get the oxygen they need. It also assures that soil will not cover the bark of the young trunk, causing it to decay. Setting the tree slightly above ground level will maintain a proper level in the event that it sinks a bit after watering.

    Very good video! Thank you! May I ask where did you buy the persimmon tree?

      I get most of my trees from Eat Your Yard Jax.

    My persimmon leaves drooping since I have transferred from pot, please help

    • @JimBobsGarden
      @JimBobsGarden  2 роки тому +1

      Most plants will droop after transplanting but it helps to give it a bit of extra water for a week or two. If that does not help then put some compost around the tree and water that in well.

    I have a 3 - 4 foot Oriental persimmon Fuyu from home depot.. It is currently 95 degrees... You think it is okay to plant or should i wait until fall ?

    • @JimBobsGarden
      @JimBobsGarden  2 роки тому +1

      I am assuming that you are not keeping it inside the house so it will be 95 in the pot or in the ground. Of the two I would say the ground would be better. I would do it either early or late to avoid some of the heat and water it daily for a couple of weeks. I am not a tree expert but that is what I would do.

      It is doing great. Had a bunch of persimmons last year and this year it has produced a bunch as well. The fruit was very tasty and we cant wait for it to ripen again this year. Overall a great investment.
