Reading the comments here tells us what a long way we have got to go - in terms of scientific education.
Most people can't grasp the simple fact that Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas and that an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration leads to an increase in global temperatures (as well as other effects in the oceans).
You do realise that we are going through a time called sun spot, same as what happened in medieval times, the son itself plays a part in the weather, there's has never been 4 seasons has you've been led to believe. Don't listen to the media, go straight to the facts and check history too. Who's gains the most from this left wing movement(the rich). The world is cooling down actually. And forestry which thrives in high temperatures has been found under the ice that is so called melting, which shows a previous sun spot period

I appreciate what she is trying to do but unfortunately it is not helping. Complaining and offering overly idealistic solutions does not work. Only economical viable solutions succeed over the long run. Let's focus on those.
She doesn't realize what tearing up valid contracts on mass scale means. Conflict. Poverty. War. Breakdown of fragile peace and global order. At her age we cannot expect her to understand this . I admire her courage and appreciate what she is trying to do but let us listen to group of experts who can offer holistic and realistic solutions.

@@soebredden You misunderstood my comment. 10 years ago I saw a sign saying "Stop Global Warming" outside a gas station. Does this help in saving the planet? Obama forced automaker to reduce emission in return for bailout. China subsidizes green energy and EVs but taxes ICE vehicles. These policies made enormous difference because they make economic sense. All I am saying is that our focus should be on pushing for changes that create economic incentives to clean up the environment and make it expensive to pollute. Money connects all humans and it can be used to change human behavior. China and Norway made is very expensive to own ICE and easier to own an EV. Guess what, both countries have record EV sales.

Greta went to a special school which did not have mandatory attendance Monday-Friday like a normal school. By sitting outside the Swedish Parliament on Fridays, Greta was NOT striking from her school or missing school time.

She was allowed to do this because she managed it without any problems! You can call this whatever you want! It began with a strike! There are times when the same things need to be repeated over and over ad nauseum until everyone gets it and this is as she says one of the most important times. Again, GT is repeating the crises and the science behind the crises, she understands she's the one in the world that has been pushed to the head of the line and she's willing to do it. Energy use efficiency and reduction is not that hard for the conscious mind. Pollution reduction is not that hard for the conscious mind.
I sit in a room powered by a small solar panel, and most of my appliances are off. I keep my vehicle at peek efficiency and only drive to the shops or travel when it is necessary, or often catch a lift with my daughter if she is already going +++... yet I am the climate destroyer because I offer viable solutions and reject poor solutions.
Point is, its not a crisis. It is catastophization. The models have been way overstated for 30 years.

Besides the market has been working to make a cleaner world before Greta was born. The climate won’t be a crisis as long as the free market keeps growing. So if there is a serious matter to tackle, is how much the western governments should strangle the markets and how far are they going to go. The more the markets are controlled the more climate crisis we will have. Be sure of that. The solution for climate change is free market, not a Swedish teen.

Beautifully done and said. Great interview. I do find her strategy on discussing solutions interesting though. I guess her current focus is on helping folks realize the crisis nature of the situation BEFORE addressing solutions, which may end up being wise.
For reference there are the 4 Cs.
Coal: stop burning coal as a power source asap and then phase out fossil methane. Transition to smart grids filled with a diverse mix of solar, wind, hydroelectric, biomass/biogas, geothermal, and nuclear to round out where the others can cover. Also electrify as much of industry and modern life as possible.
Cars: transition from petroleum to electric automobiles. Following this get shipping and air travel to run on hydrogen.
Cows: capture the methane emissions of livestock and their waste, use both as biogas and biomass sources of carbon neutral energy. The gas can ise the same facilities as fossil methane while coal plants are easily converted into biomass plants (never cut down trees for biomass).
Chainsaws: stop deforestation and encourage reforestation. This includes some other more complex aspects of land management but boils down to preserve wildlands and restore them to help sequester carbon.
Boom. That's over 85% of climate change solved. You can get well above 90% if adopt low to zero to carbon negative cement as well. The rest is just mopping up the details.

@Myth Tree It wasn't her grandad, it was a distant relative. He didn't "invent" C02 warming, he discovered it (and it was later verified by others). Greta's interest in climate change didn't start with the school strikes, It started many years before this (she even wrote an article about it which won a prize). Her mother had no interest in climate change until Greta got her interested in it, she was a social justice campaigner who was mainly interested in refugees. Her mother never said she hadn't heard of climate change.

I don't know much about Greta except,
she (is apparently the public face of her generations environmental concerns and,) travels to different locations around the globe giving talks about the matter.
It seems some people cheer her on, whilst others loathe her! The young lady despite the conspiracy theory (I've heard those too) that she is a shill for some underhand organisations, or whatever, has @ least genuinely raised awareness.
IMO, Greta has raised awareness for this oversized pressing issue. And I agree with a lot of her talking points in this video, as this is my first time taking the time to really listen to her fundamental talking points.
I encourage her to continue up her current path until she reaches her 'life junction' to then decide which path to settle upon; because she is still quite a young lass, so allow her, me finks..

There is no definitive proof whether its us or the Earth going through a natural cycle. Doesnt anyone take into account that the Earths been through so many cold and warm periods and radical changes even way before we were here?. Greta is one of the most well spoken, intelligent people I have listened to in my 60ish years. I strongly suspect that she knows that, with recognition of our current climate crisis down at less than 50%, we are not going to make the changes necessary to avoid tipping points and irreversible feedback loops. Change is coming. It is up to all of us to collectively decide which change we want for life on this planet. Unfortunately I don't think the majority of us are well informed enough to make the right choice.

For the absolute potential of the green objective to be realised, the whole entire world first of all must read from the same green book, which I think is where we are now based on the news feedback.
Next step is for all to read from the same page. That isn't currently possible because countries around the globe are at different stages of economic growth and development so cannot be expected to all meet the same goals, @ the same time, currently. (obvious) And then we can all together{as many souls as possible} move forward towards the final two steps before completion.
Nations across the world (rich and poor) ought to, must work together as respected neighbours, as well as, boots(wellies) on the ground working in synergy with the elite.
