That bucket seat 🤣🤣🤣
Many years ago when i was single and still living at home i had a well paid job and i was literally buying these old volvo tanks left right and centre..i had some real beauties and also some duds lol..i am 51 years old now and i can't seem to get the few hundred quid volvos anymore like i used to be able to do...i sold some i wish i had kept...lovely thing you are doing..excellent work.
I used Google translate for the document you shared. Here's what it found.
le, (6) defects identified: -d6.2.1a (em) rear left wheel arch rusted through -df5.3.3 (em) trailing arm 2nd axle left and right upper arm front and rear rubber mounts damaged ***
I found a tool on turbobricks that is sold to remove the trailing arm bushings! I haven't tried it yet, but I purchased it to use on my wagon because the bushings are in similar shape as this car.
Thanks bud, I find it weird how it says upper? When the trailing arms are lower and the torque rods upper 🤔 That tool you mentioned is a must have but I heard sometimes it's only good for the install not so much removal, I had a look here and it's €150 so probably close to $200
that bucket seat is actually jokes
I think silver with center caps would look like a great match for that color! She's a beauty!
Thanks man I think I'm gonna try it out
The silver wheels with 2 piece centre caps were standard fitment on the 240 through 83 on DL models, at least in Canada. Diesel models had the same, but with the chrome beauty rings. It will definitely suit the car. The problem, at least here, is finding tires to fit them. The sedan specifies a 185/70R14, and there is not a lot of choice in that size. The wagon/estate models up to 1992 are impossible to replace in the factory size. The 185R14 got impossible for Volvo to get, so the final two years specify a 195/75R14. Last fall I needed new winter tires on my 1990 wagon, and the only one available was the Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice And Snow. In summer I now run a set of the 15 inch wheels off a GLT/TURBO, with a 205/65R15. I was able to get that size in a Michelin Defender with an H speed rating.
@@michaeltutty1540 I've got 185/80/14 on the Sedan and 195/70/14 on the Wagon, need to replace them though as they are 17 years old!
@@michaeltutty1540 Just checked the original logbook, it calls for either 185/14 or 195/70/14
A well cared for and garaged old Volvo in Australia will virtually never rust 😎
I heard about it, absolute dream 😎
Just keep making videos and your channel will explode and get popular.
Very kind words, thank you! Glad you're enjoying it
I can't stop to watch. Love this cars so much
Glad you're enjoying it! They are the best cars!
My heart sank when i saw all them holes and rust, shows what i know.
It's a bad patch that's for sure but the rest of the car is mostly clean so that's what counts
The “Donk” had me dying
Love the music 😁
Thanks!
Used to drive 240, 740 and last a 945 turbo, great cars but prone to rust and all the bushings go bad. Nice channel. Now moved over to V70 awd.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks! Yeah rust is a constant battle! I'm sure I'll end up with a V70 one day when I get priced out of these 😃
They under sealed it because the rust was BUGGING them 🪳🤣🤣🤣
Another great video
😂 Good one, thanks mate
I think you got a good car, thos is like a challenge to you , you are an expert on the matter, you can fix anything plus you have a parts car to correct it.
Thank you for the motivation my friend!
he stays optimiime with his old ruty volvos cheers
Cheers!
You look very comfy in the boot of that volvo, she looks great mate....
It was actually quite comfortable 🤣 Thanks mate yeah every time I look at it I think what a beautiful car.
Underneath also!
@@Involvod she is a beautiful car you are right looking forward to seeing more on this one 👍
When you zoomed in on the bugs I thought you said "Sandwich" and I was like not my first choice of filling but okay... Loving the videos though :)
Love your volvo purchases! Those bushes are proper shot. Are you going to go stock or PU? Know the rules are different in Germany about staying stock.... Ours is going to be far from stock when we are done 😂 We are nearly finished the project.... Paint tomorrow! 👍
Thanks! And for popping up, I just subscribed, can't wait to binge the series. I'm going PU for the torque arms and keeping the trailing arms rubber, but you've just reminded me it could be an issue here, especially as it's an old timer so had to be previously inspected to make sure it's totally original 😬
@@Involvod the rules are really harsh over there aren't they. I don't think we have one car that doesn't have at least one modification! Subscribed to you too, looking forward to seeing what you find next! Good luck with the saloon and estate!
Bearded wrencher is right, I don’t think I could have translated it better .all good !!!not bad translation for google. 👍🏻 if that’s all that’s wrong you’re laughing. 2nd axel is the back axel by the way
I just replied to your comment from the other day! I'm worried about it going in for the test with poly bushes 😬
@@Involvod keep any paperwork you get with , and it’s all good (, 🤣 but in the car, not at home)
I think those blue "tablets" are to go in the washer bottle ?
That would make sense! Perhaps I'll throw one in a jug of water first see what happens
There's nothing worse than when it flops out of your bush 😉😂
No mate it doesn't feel good at all
@@Involvod 😂😂 fair play, she's tidy though mate! The welding that needs doing is double skin, so it's thick enough for a good bond at least. But the overall looks really well kept!
Thanks mate yeah I'm really happy it's a good example to be getting on with, if I preserve it now she should last forever. Do you weld?
@@Involvod yeah she should last well if you keep on top of it.
I do bits here and there but I tend to leave the more critical stuff up to my brother, who is a bloody tidy welder fair play to him.
I see a visit to Wales coming for Lilibet the 240! 😄
Do you plan on changing the trailing arm bushings yourself?
After reading up on what kind of job it is and having a noisy diff I decided to swap over the axles as the wagon rear end was smooth as silk. Got a vid of it going up tomorrow
@@Involvod wow! That’s crazy. I have done every job on a 240 that I can think of, engine swaps, blower motor / heater core replacement. I fully restored my 242 Turbo including replacing the trailing arm bushings BUT, I have never swapped the entire rear axle. Kudos to you!
It was probably overkill but also one of those jobs that's super daunting until you are re-installing and it seems easy then
Hey better a little rust than like mine which the paint is all gone and faded.
It's not red by any chance is it? 😅
I just realised who you are! Do you mean the silver 740?
@@Involvod haha no, light blue.
@@Involvod I do have a silver 740, but I was referring to the lite blue one I’ve been working on in my videos.
@@plightn It's a pain isn't it, no way to easily diy a full respray and have it look good. So it's definitely past a cut and polish?
