    Welcome to 2021’s first Tech Tips Tuesday. I haven’t had the time or motivation to create much for Ride Bikes Be Happy, but have been fortunate enough to have been editing a lot video for Radhaus am Markt. This one was shot by the guys in the shop, and I edited and did the voice over.
    This video is about how to service the drive system on a Rocky Mountain Bicycles Powerplay. I shot the intro with my Mavic Air drone, and did the editing voice over. Hope you enjoy and that some of you find it useful.

    All videos are shot on a GoPro Hero 4, or 5, or an iPhone XS Max. Sometimes I use Fiyutech gimbal to stabilise the shots, and a DJI Mavic Air, for drone shots; and I almost always edit in LumaTouch, LumaFusion.

    I am a cyclist that has been known to be a trail builder, a bike mechanic, videographer and a Jack of All Trades. This channel will show videos of my bike riding, as well as general bicycle related tips and tricks, to make your own bike riding more fun.
    All my videos make reference to Kona Bikes, Fox Shox and Dakine, as well as other brands. I am not currently sponsored by any of these brands, but may, from time to time, get free product to test and use.

    Awesome video, first like this I've seen on UA-cam! Please do more powerplay related vids (eg iwoc replacement, and other annual upgrades). Looking forward to more Rocky content!
    Ps Amazing custom paint jobs... Where did you have them done? Perhaps videos on how they were made?

      Thanks for a rad feedback. Busy doing a deal to do more of these, as I don’t own a PowerPlay. More to come.

      Hey Alessandro, I was custom painted, locally. The carbon paints up nicely, although I’m going to go a custom wrap on my next bike. Watch this space ;)

    its like cleaning a stihl chainsaw. With that cover and small drive cog. Can it be worked on with one tool like stihl?

    • @RideBikesBeHappy
      @RideBikesBeHappy  2 роки тому

      Hey Craig, thanks for the question. Unfortunately not. The flat head driver and huge nut drivers from a chainsaw are not going to work. Small bicycle multi tool and a flat screwdriver should do the trick.
      Have fun.

    Do you know if these steps are OK to do on the Dyname 4.0?

      Hey, thanks for the question. I have to be honest and so, I haven’t worked with Rocky for a long time now. Can’t tell if they will work. Sorry man.

    Hi, is there any risk on the washing process? Thanks

    • @RideBikesBeHappy
      @RideBikesBeHappy  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure what you mean, but I wash my eBikes just like my analog bikes. Motorex bike clean or MucOff if I must. Spray it on, leave for 10min and spray off with a garden hose.
      As for the drive train, needs to get cleaned, so follow the video and you’re good to go.

      Never flush the spider bearing or any bearing on any bike with a solid water beam. That will push moisture in past the seals and cause corrosion that will eventually destroy the bearing. 99% of all bearings I've replaced as a bike mechanic have shown signs of rust inside. That goes for any bike brand..

    최대의 단점은 밧데리 교환할때 모터도 분해해야 밧데리가 빠진다는거

      Danke, warum ist meine Meinung falsch? Das sind starke Lösungsmittel die das Fett aus den Lagern spülen. Dichtungen sind leider nicht zu 100% dicht und unterliegen gerade am MTB großem Verschleiß. Mit deiner Methode beschleunigst du massiv den Verschleiß deiner Lager! Bitte um eine Erklärung warum du denkst das meine Meinung falsch ist.@@RideBikesBeHappy

      @@tst09 dude, I’m not going to have a massive argument about this with you, but the basic point is that you are not meant to bath the bearing is these solvents, just give them a light spray and then wipe down. I have been a bike mechanic for 28 years, worked for various World Cup MTB teams including Fox Shox, I’ve used good quality brake clear for so many things, and it works. You can have your opinion, but I know what works. If you don’t want to do things this way, then don’t. You are allowed to do what you want, but stop being a keyboard warrior and just go ride your bike. ✌🏼

    • @tst09
      @tst09 7 місяців тому

      Danke ich bin normalerweise kein Keyboardwarrior, und ich fahre seit 30 Jahren MTB und habe selber 4Jahre als Bikemechaniker gearbeitet. Das deine Methode funktioniert bestreite ich nicht, die Teile werden sicher super sauber, das Problem ist das du damit die Lebensdauer verkürzt. Mir ist auch klar das das für ein WC-Team kein Problem ist weil die Teile laufend erneuert werden. Wenn du die Teile aber selber bezahlen musst und sie länger als ein paar 100km verwenden möchtest ist dein Methode eben nicht optimal.
      Darüber sollten sich die Leute die dein Video ansehen eben auch bewusst sein. @@RideBikesBeHappy

    Should be a warnings on every e-bike video: Must be wealthy to afford an e-bike. Must be too lazy to pedal up a hill.
