Hey Coolguy not sure if this is fixed yet but I've been using ascension with Radient Dance Machines because unlike Strand and Stasis it works infinitely from what I'm aware of. (Again could've been fixed but idk.)
Built this yesterday right after I built the prismatic one, getting that class ability back when running like frostees was on was too tasty to pass up on Arc
Except for the other Hunter exotic, yeah. Hunters have more than enough meme exotics in PvP, making our extra meme aspect (we got stuck with on Prismatic unfortunately) just slightly better is never gonna be worth an exotic slot to me, especially when Jester exists and is better at doing the same thing.
If you equip and use one of the Ergo Sum exotic swords it has a crazy interaction with ascension... Every Ascension causes the jolt, and the effect of the heavy swing of the exotic sword at the same time. (Telesto bolts, Instectoid Robots, Ghorn round, etc.) That works EVERY time you use ascension, and doesn't cost the sword any ammo. SOOOOO, run the RDMs.... and you can then dodge by a target, pull out a sword, and then ascension FOREVER... everytime you use it, it activates the sword heavy swing stuff.. that gets a kill and extends multi-dodge... you can see how this goes.. Fun part of that.. if you get max timer on the multi-dodge perk you can ascension over and over almost to the skybox... lol
I'm a warlock main but have been picking up Hunter a lot lately, meaning I have all the aspects and fragments for their classes, but not the exotics. I SO DESPERATELY WANT RADIANT DANCE MACHINES for gimmicks like this. Thanks for being the inspiration to actually get one!
@@skipventure5158If you reset Rahool you can then focus any exotic you want, old or new. Once you unlock the base exotic focusing (excludes new), focusing will rank up Rahool faster than just redeeming exotics
I really like using Delicate tomb. Because you won’t even have to reload for a new shot of jolt. Could be bias but I really think all the new aspects should have 3 fragment slots. Gifted conviction has become my favorite hunter exotic of all time, the play style just itches my brain
I've always appreciated your content on its own, and then a higher appreciation for your reviews of weapons and armor pieces because they aren't just 'standard' or thrown together for reviews sake, and often times I find something I didn't expect or know about. This is another one of those times as I was initially just whelmed with this exotic but you've again shown what it's actually capable of at least for PVE. Bonus points for the S tier Wombo Combo reference and hope you're doing well man, keep up the great stuff as always.
i farmed exotic engrams pre-tfs to unlock this thing right off the start. saw the amplified defense perk in the artifact and knew i needed it for solo stuff.
I just can't find a way to justify using this exotic in PvE.. the main gimmick is amplify and jolt which are both already completely free to get on arc hunter...
I was actually really hoping that Ascension would be a ground-activated ability, but it's actually been super fun to have an "oh shit" button in the back pocket for jumping puzzles or even to chain with the new super for covering huge distances, especially if you've got coyote.
Ascension needs to have a 2nd part where you have a slam attack to follow up a tempest strike or an Ascension twirl. Tempest strike would be a forward wave of energy for a longer distance and Ascension twirl would be a wave of energy in all directions but a shorter diatance. Another cool option would be that it would act as a mini whirlwind guard and relfect damage back out.
“Spark of Beacons: rarely used” I experienced psychic damage with that one. It’s the best part of the Arc kit now that Indebted Kindness exists (plus it works with Heavies now wooo!)
I've been waiting for this one man, thanks for this vid! As a Hunter main who's been using Arc Punchy setups for years, this is SOOOOOOO refreshing. Arc Hunter needed new tools, feels the least diverse of all the Hunter Light subclasses. Like the way you took the build, definitely stoked to try out the Indebted Kindness setup!
I actually did build into using both tempest and ascension in pve. Build into high strength and I use it to alternate between the two aspects to keep the dr.rolling. Very fun
Cheers to the legend, Mr Coolguy himself. Sounds like the recovery is staying on an upward trend, and you're just releasing banger after banger after banger. Always fun to watch when you've got so much material to make fun stuff about =) Cheers man, thinking about you for further healing etc etc
Ascension without this exotic is pretty good in pvp especially on prismatic. Not only can you do the grapple skate but also you can use it as an extra jump to go over doorways without exposing yourself
There is also a trick to using Ascension right now where if you use it right before touching the ground 1 of 2 things can happen based on your timing. You can rise without consuming class ability energy. Or You can use Ascension while remaining grounded without using class ability energy. The latter is pretty useful in PvP for getting Amplify quickly without having to wait to touch the ground again. Can be gotten consistently with practice though will require a feel for it due to the many uneven surfaces in the game. I've had some success in PvP with Ascension + Flow State + Gifted since it makes all your weapons feel amazing with the Amplify Handling boost on top of 60 Reload and 0.8x scalar from Flow State. The bombs are tricky to use but if you learn when to gauge for the right health thresholds you can try to go for it.
Little nugget about Ascension I learned today: If you are holding a crafted sword, any kills with Ascension count as weapon kills for the sword, increasing progression. Didn't seem to work with anything else though
i think the reason why stuff like reaper doesn't activate with the new twirl is perhaps because it comes from a fragment that we get the ability and not a due to it being a new separate class ability itself. It would be like how like if icarus dash took away our class ability instead of a it having a timed cooldown. Maybe they can tweak it to be on a cooldown system like warlock dash or maybe even like how we lose a bit of class energy when we shoulder charge for movement, just make the twirl take out a bigger chunk. *that being said tho, i've noticed stuff like dragons shadow DOES activate with the twirl so maybe its just a lil buggy in general / unclear on interactions
off topic a bit but since you mentioned Beacons, it is such an underrated Fragment. I run it religiously on my Warlock and Hunter with Coldheart or Delicate Tomb. And now in TFS it works with Heavies, Thunderlord or Fine Memorial is an AMAZING pick with it now.
So I just tested this build with spark of beacons and the Ergo sum arc conductor sword. the chain lighting kills you get ALSO BLIND TARGETS. pure dopamine
Amplified gives you +50 to mobility and with this build its essentially active all the time so I wouldn't spec more than 50 into mobility. You can also ditch the kickstart utility because you'll get your class ability back in 10ish seconds anyways, you're better off throwing on an arc surge or something along with a font of restoration which gives you +30 recov for added healing capability while you have an armor charge
Tried this now, and it's a really fun build! I feel like utility kickstart is kinda redundant though, as you get your dodge back so fast anyway. I put on two arc surge mods on my legs and change the kickstart mod to reaper and attraction mods instead for those times when I actually dodge normally (to get orbs around me for healing and surges). I run Khovostov, Indebted Kindness (with Voltshot, yeeees) and any arc heavy that you want. Works wonders and is really strong!
Ascension doesn’t proc reaper or powerful attraction because it doesn’t activate/use your class ability/dodge. It instead “consumes” your class ability but replaces it with a different action. It also doesn’t work with bomber, outreach, distribution or even HOIL. It does work with Utility Kickstart though!
I used Spark of Beacons with Ex Diris for an Arc Hunter build to pretty nice effect. Very overlooked fragment. Picked this for clearing legend campaign, so gonna give this a go.
Just tried a build with this in a lost sector 20 levels below the cap. It's decent at times, but the issue is with ascension. The hang time on the ability is way too long and can get you killed rather quickly depending on the enemies. It also doesn't help that you need to be within 10-15m of a target in order to get the resistance. Bungie will have make a slight adjustment either to the hang time, or give a small grace period where enemies won't aim at you while airborne to make this fully viable in endgame content. Otherwise, it's good but quite risky.
As someone who keeps PvP fresh and fun by getting "silly kills" (Kepri's Horn barricade, Athrys's Embrace knife bounce, throwing hammer bonk, etc.), Gifted Conviction seems like something that would be right up my alley for something in Quickplay or Iron Banner. I don't really care if it gets me killed if it also makes me laugh, but it definitely doesn't seem like something you can use very seriously (Trials or Comp).
I haven't really played with gifted conviction yet but i will. BUT ascension i have and i love it. On prismatic ascension and stylish with radiant dance machines is my go to pve setup and yes i have used this in endgame pve activities and it works well.
I really hope they fix Ascension soon, so it’ll work with class ability related mods. If it actually worked the way it should, it could be pretty decent outside of just niche builds.
This is a very interesting and different play-style. I think this is cool from bungie to provide new ways to play. We don’t have to use the same things all the time

I unlocked the exotic as my choice from campaign reward threw it in the vault 😂Time to pull it out and give it a try 👍 I've been having too much fun with Radiant Dance Machine infinite Ascension to try any other new builds. 😂 Also would like to suggest Recuperation over Better Already for pve. We generate so many orbs you are better off with instant 70 health whenever you pick up an orb. Better Already only starts health regen which is canceled/interrupted the moment you take additional damage. It doesnt work like restoration.
As someone who uses this aspect a lot with Blink it actually more often than not makes you blink upward after using Ascension, even when you have some downward momentum. It's very good to save yourself from bad blinks but sometimes blinking just leaves you hanging a bit longer. It let's you get almost anywhere with Blink in PvE as you can Blink twice upward/forward before touching the ground with it since you can Blink both before and after Ascension.
8:25 the issue with an arc shatterdive is where do you put it, if you want this ascension / Tempest strike wombo combo it can't be an aspect, can't be a melee coz tempest uses that and can't be class ability coz ascension uses that... like you'd need an exclusive arc grenade on hunter to make it work coz if its an exotic armourpiece that boost ascension to add another move (a shatterdive) you loose out on the funny balls... theres a couple ways to work around it but smh I say forget about it and just give voidhunter a 2 charge melee with spectral blades flavour :>
Yeah, just a follow up like Consecration on titans. You ascend and press the same button again to go down with some cool effect. Maybe a second jolt when you hit the ground, with shorter range to just deal with any enemies right next to you.
I removed the one that recharges your dodge when sprinting. Not only does the dodge come back plenty fast without it, it also removes 10 mobility, so if you're not at 100 mobility removing it will help a bit in getting it back anyway since you will get one more tier of mobility. Same with utility kickstart, not needed at all. I use surge mods instead for more damage on Indebted Kindness (and any arc heavy of your choice). Makes it more viable in harder content too, since you need that damage. Even without the fragment and the kickstart mods you get your dodge back in seconds.
Ever since your Lucky Raspberry video I haven't put it down in PvE. Was heavily impressed by it, but noticed that the protection fragment wasn't always enough resist. Do you think this power creeps lucky raspberry to the point that you're worse off running that instead of this new chestpiece?
you think you could run this on strand hunter/stasis hunter with the trials glaive with voltshot so you could stack woven mail/frost armor, glaive resist, and gifted resist?
I really hope they fix ascension not rocking class ability use perks, I want to on prismatic use this and proc my radiant dodge. I use it on all my hunter builds tho just cause I like the userbility
I... Really don't think they needed the jolt resist to only be close range. I get that Arcstrider is supposed to be a warrior monk archetype, but if I'm going to be playing a close range class with one of the most broken abilities in the game (combination blow), I'm going to want to leverage the broken ability to play up that fantasy. It's just not enough to actually use the aspects over the combination blow + flow state + whatever the other non-ability-replacement aspect is called because I just get jolt anyway with those and have access to a fundamentally degenerate (i.e. "degenerate strategy") ability loop. It might be worth rocking over assassin's cowl anyway (for me, personally) because invis can be riskier or less consistent, but man they basically *can't* balance arcstrider or prismatic while combination blow exists.
@@wissende_8148 Exactly this. The increased regen is crazy fast, and you really don't need the fragment for increased class items regen or utility kickstart. Just flow state is plenty fast, and lets you use surge mods for more damage instead.
It's a weak aspect that they have a whole dedicated exotic too to make it even usable... Awful design process to be honest... The exotic armour should've gone towards the 3 DIVE aspects we already have... Or at least on something like the gunpowder aspect or even the radiant dodge ... I dunno when the last time I was excited for a hunter exotic... probably since gyrfalcon.

What is that green strand looking shader never seen that one before
I wonder if you can pair ergo sum and have someone using a healing frame gun and heal from cover
Instead of tumbling around using melee, you're using your tumble as a big melee.
The "I'm not like the other arc hunter builds"
you think you could run this on strand hunter/stasis hunter with the trials glaive with voltshot so you could stack woven mail/frost armor, glaive resist, and gifted resist?
I’d love me some DIM links. Great vids and insight
I really hope they fix ascension not rocking class ability use perks, I want to on prismatic use this and proc my radiant dodge. I use it on all my hunter builds tho just cause I like the userbility
You just gave me an idea and if this works im bout to have so much fun in pvp😂
Does ergo sum work ?
What's actually awkward is using a strand shader on an arc subclass... D: Great stuff tho! :D
Resist & Blind? Nah, Resist & Bite.
Can you use coyote, since it has built in reaper, does that work? Edit: im just wondering if that baked in reaper forces an orb to happen.
What’s this crazy green shader?
Embedded kindness
6:00, this makes the indebted look like its a godamn exotic ;-;... i've run this fragment with cold heart but dear god
Idk if you guys can help me, but do most players go with Icarus grip over targeting adjuster on hand cannons?
"the balls go inside"
Ascension makes you amplified. Flow state = wasted aspect
Its being used for the faster class ability regen. Not for getting amplified
@@wissende_8148 Exactly this. The increased regen is crazy fast, and you really don't need the fragment for increased class items regen or utility kickstart. Just flow state is plenty fast, and lets you use surge mods for more damage instead.
@@wissende_8148 makes sense
Hear me out “give the balls tracking and return ability energy on ball damage” 🤔
Should spawn ionic traces instead for prismatic synergy
What is that shader @4:26 👀👀⁉️⁉️
I think it is the one that's part of a pack of 4?
strand shader only for silver... for now...
Tempest strike.. ayo?
It's a weak aspect that they have a whole dedicated exotic too to make it even usable... Awful design process to be honest... The exotic armour should've gone towards the 3 DIVE aspects we already have... Or at least on something like the gunpowder aspect or even the radiant dodge ... I dunno when the last time I was excited for a hunter exotic... probably since gyrfalcon.
