Your videos are incredible, I'm back to MTG after 20 years and I've never played commander. I wanted to get into this format but as much as I enjoy deck building, it's hard to know where to start after so long. These builds seem great to enjoy the game casually and not break the bank. I love that I can easily build a bunch of these for cheap, have fun, and use them as a starting point to get back into the game and upgrade them as I see fit, all without having to break the bank. Thank you so much for taking the time to help us casual players.

I have to say: I love this deck already. I build a "light version" of this with Xantcha as my commander, but always lacked the means of protecting myself. White is perfect for that, especially the taxing is good. TY! Again a well done Decktech from you.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I just thought I'd drop down here and say, thank you very much, good sir. For months on end, I've been agonizing over what my first official Commander would be, and I've always thought Curses was a neat theme to play with, but I never really found the nerve to pull the trigger until after I watch this video, at which point I will be heavily inspired to curse all of my friends to Oblivion, so again, thank you very much for the inspiration! :D

This is now my favorite deck tech I've ever seen from you Mitch. What a unique deck to play that I haven't really thought of before, at least with this synergy in mind. I don't build budget decks myself, but I think I'll yoink this idea and add my own twist to it, maybe throw in some of those more expensive haymakers. Great deck dude
Well, i have built this deck last year and i absolutely love it. To give it a little push i tried to give a legendary vampire subtheme other than curses, and it's more centred to the bounties; i have cards that proliferate, that creates copy of the commander and cards that can tap kill to get the bounty whenever i want or a player ask me to.
highkey want to build this deck as a meme, but also Mathas has been a commander i've eyed for a while and this deck seems incredibly sweet for that reason. Definitely gonna try and build him! 😄
I built a 60 card curse deck. It was alot of fun but no one plays that anymore unless they play standard near me. I am glad there is a deck out there that allows me to play them. I may actually puck this deck up.
Dude this deck is insane, just finished my third game on mtgo using it and loved all of them. I've added a few more dual lands and that's it. Definitely going to get a paper copy.
Been playing this deck for a while and it's quickly become my favourite 🤣 When it kicks off it really kicks off and it's beyond political! So much fun to play.
As a suggestion, i recommend Brand of Ill Omen. Flavorwise, it's on par with most curses, and it can be devastating with Tiana, Ship's Caretaker on the board!
Does anyone know why open the armory was not included in this deck, it's one and a white to search for an aura or an enchantment, its basically a dt in this deck
Very original deck! Love the idea of gathering all the curses spells into one deck. Never seen anything like this. By gaming group is not very good at politics, and playing this deck would just make all other players join up against me. So not sure I would play this, but I can still appreciate the creativity behind the theme.
Know why she has two toughness? She originally had 1, but they didn't want T2 Heartless Summoning, T3 Witch, fetch up curse in Standard. That would have been so fun, though!

Hey, fellow brewer! When I build budget decks that are 3-4-5 colors, I like to use lands like Rupture Spire, Gateway Plaza, and Transguild Promenade. Sure you have to pay one for them, but then you have an extremely versatile land! That’s just me tho.
I love your guys's 50 dollar deck techs, have you considered doing a simic deck with mormir vig as the commander? His tutor ability would be amazing to build around.
Does Bounty Hunter synergize with Mathas? That's actually pretty amazing. I wonder if there are more cases of two similarily named counters with different purposes. And I wonder if they knew about this when designing Mathas.
@@tay52 Yes and no. Yes it can destroy things that Mathas has marked. No that bounty counters placed by him don't explode into prizes when you kill them- Only bounty counters placed by Mathas cause draw/heal

One card I always include in curse decks is Cleansing Meditation. It's mass enchantment removal, but I mostly like it to reassign my curses to another player
I just received the upgraded version of this deck yesterday, and play-tested it 1v1 against one of my friends that typically has some pretty strong decks and I gotta say.. Oh. My. God. This deck feels SO powerful. He played against me with about 5 different decks and I crushed every single one. At one point I was struggling hard early with mana, and he had gotten me down to 5 life, while he was at 61. But I was able to recover, stabilize, and overwhelm him with curses while controlling the board enough to pull out the win. It felt like I just had an answer to everything he threw at me, despite somewhat frequent mana difficulties (which can be fixed with an upgraded mana base) and a good portion of the deck basically being turned off in a 1v1 setting. Maybe his decks were just weaker than I thought, or I was just getting super lucky with my draws, but once I had 3 colors and 4-5 total mana on the board, I felt virtually unstoppable. I haven't had the chance to test it out in a proper 4 person game, but I'm *very* optimistic about how it'll play. Thank you so much for this build! As someone who loves control, but generally avoids it in edh to prevent being hated for it, this deck feels perfect for me!!
Bought some bulk Magic cards a while ago when I was just getting back into the game... Wayfarer's bauble soon became the most expensive card in there lol
If you think about it your controlling the low end market lol. Say half of your viewers buy half these cards it could raise those cards up not a lot but some. I really enjoy your deck techs and they help me in changing things in my decks. So thanks for your videos keep up the awesome hard work. I do hope to get better in my channel as well I just need to find my nitch of this vast territory of MTG
I run Bounty Hunter in my Mathas EDH deck for snipes in case I don't have very many ways of getting rid of bounty creatures. Bounty Hunter can snipe any creature with bounty counters, not just ones he can place. So if there's a big creature and it has a bounty counter(given its not hexproofed) then you can immediately get rid of it through your end step. Very good creature if players are unfazed by my alliances
I would add Dawn of Hope in the deck, whenever you gain life you can pay 2 colorless to draw a card. So each time a bounty dies, if we have the mana, you can pay 2 to draw an extra card Agent of Erebos i also good, its an enchantment creature that exiles target player graveyard when it or another enchantment comes into play. My playgroup plays a ton of graveyard decks, so that's a useful inclusion. Intrepid Hero and Royal Assassin are nice creatures too. Royal Assassin taps to destroy target tapped creature and and Intrepid Hero taps to kill a creature with power 4 or greater. Other ways to collect our bounties. I have had a Mathas deck for almost a year now, and I just love playing it so much.
I know good removal is costly and this deck is very political so you might not need as much but if you can afford it and find space for it I'd recommend to throw in some more interaction. Having a removal spell to either buy a favor or answer a threat is super key in my oppinion. Not running enough interaction is the biggest mistake most commander players make, in my oppinion. Otherwise a great deck and seemingly a lot of fun to play. Maybe you could do an episode about removal (and massremoval if removal isn't enough to talk about) in commander and the best budget removals.
I picked this up to have something different and fun to play , fighting the urge to slot in torment of hellfire and Exsanguinate to close out games 😉 exquisite blood combo fits well here as well if I was to upgrade
This would be great to use a second deck in commander 2 headed giant. Use it with a Ghave and go massive in all regards. Not to mention using it with infinite hand size. The sac engine of Ghave would be insane.
I don't know how many you should run but anguished unmaking, utter end, terminate, unlicensed disintegration, and bedevil seem to be decent multicolour instant speed options.

You should include Hall of Heliods Generosity, it's around $2 at most and recur curses

I used to run a Mathas curse deck with ovetwhelming splendor. It can shut an opponent down with curse of death's hold
You should do a Daxos of Meletis deck tech, he shows quite a but of potential with cards such as Lantern of Insight, and is my current deck.

I'm almost sure that there was no way to fit in Sram Senior Edificer, considering the budget. Maybe as a reasonable upgrade?

Really cool deck some of the Commander quarters decks he should play on MTGO to show how they work out in the end
Opponent 1: cursed and dog-piled GG
Opponent 2: stops laughing when retether is cast
Opponent 3: scoops when open the vault is cast
Retether says only creatures can be enchanted with the returned enchantments.
Retether doesn’t get back player curses.
Could this one be addressed again? Kaldheim and Adventures in the Forgotten Realms have neat stuff coming.
