Something I'd add, is that there are a lot of other perks to having studio besides xnurbs. There will be new surfacing tools incoming, possibly like edge matching/analysis. There's also better import/export capability for use in other CAD packages. That's an even bigger reason for me. I use Plasticity as a surfacing extension for Alibre. I have pretty much everything I need for design work at home.
Yep they will diverge more and more as time goes on, I think the average person is fine with indie at this point in time, if they do alot of surfacing they may want to go for studio, but as more studio only features are added I think people will really have to think about their personal use cases alot more
I think the reason why the Studio license may get the upgrade to XNUBS has to do with Rhino import/export for the studio version only. That's the demo that would probably be the most excited about XNURBS and the main reason folks like me ended up with the Studio license.
Honestly I really like it, it's not a replacement for lofting and patching but it can really speed up certain situations I was playing around with it to see what I can come up with last night and xnurbs worked in situations where a loft or patch wouldn't, but also failed or behaved in a strange way once or twice in situations where a simple loft or patch worked like a charm, still just experimenting with it at this stage
How to download this plugins? Is this plug-in only open to the studio version?
Yes it will only be included in the Studio version, I have heard some small aspects will be included in Indie but I am not sure which.
In this video I am using the Beta version of Studio which has upcoming and experimental features of Plasticity.
Looks to me that anyone can use this software by what I see in this video. @ 4:30 the middle object has misaligned faces hense why the surfacing isn’t working.. Brutal
I see that now!, this was a just a simple set up to show how quickly xnurbs can resolve a surface.
Pricing become scary 😢 we heed iPad version yo
Plasticity on iPad would be Ace!
can you upgrade form indie to studio by paying 150 again?
Same question
Good question, you have to email the team about that one at the moment and they do it ad hoc, not my area of expertise but the discord has a whole area dedicated to licence questions.
You will pay $199 to upgrade, not $150. For some reason the guys at Plasticity think you should be penalized and extra $50 for not upgrading within 4 weeks of purchasing your Indie license. Make up your own mind why this is the case, but it seems totally unfair to me and never ever happens with any other software package I know of.
agreed what a joke
@@Argyll9846 thanks for the info, to say the truth, that doesn't give me good vibes.
Sir, can you make a video showing all the beta features? Indie vs Studio please :D
Sorry fo my bad english.
I'd love to do this kind of video but beta features can changer so I'd more likely do a video when a stable release comes along!
Xnurbs is much better but I'd have to think when it'd come in useful.
I do want to model a car...
For me it's the speed of use it doesn't fully replace patching and lofting but it solves some impossible seeming patches at times
Seems like the convolution of plasticity is starting, that's a real shame.
I see what you mean but I don't nessacarily see it this way, the studio version hasn't changed much with the exception of including a plugin with it, that if sold on its own would exceed the cost of the studio license, I see it as a win, because as far as I'm aware almost all the other functionality will come to the indie license.
@@takerefuge3d it just truly sucks getting sold on a product and then finding out you won’t get features unless you pay even more. As far as I’m aware I haven’t used plasticity for more than a year.
I do like the features that are coming from it, but when basic ones aren’t present like a decent measurement system or edit/history, it’s wild to see users be awed by quite frankly less necessary features that one can’t access unless you pay more.
I’m just ranting, please don’t take any of this personally! Cheers
Haha, I get how you're feeling, and don't worry I don't expect you're the only one, I would not consider a third party software to be a "feature" exactly, so much as an addition
For those that have indie, can we just pay 50 extra to upgrade..
I think it's a bit more than that you can email the team or wait for them to announce upgrade pathway
wtf, I should pay GST also? It's something new? - i didn't see it month ago
I'm in Australia so it's a local tax, unfortunately, it may not apply in every country.
@@takerefuge3d I made that comment after saw the same for me. Additional 29,80$ it's BS
That's not a plasticity thing but a government thing
@@takerefuge3d i have found that if you entered your VAT information, that 29$ will be reduced.
