Saw Sleeps last night at a HMV instore where they did a stripped back set. Listened to the record multiple times and its absolutely a grower. Rainbows + dopesick are going to be live staples for years
100% grower
Went to the Nottingham one.
Did Sean take selfies on your phone too? Haha
It's definitely a grower for people who aren't too narrow minded to move away from initial expectations of how the album should sound like. Metal community is so weird sometimes...
I listened to this for the first time today. Really enjoyed it.
I love this album, people grow as we navigate through life and music does too. Rainbows is a banger. To the flowers was almost life changing for me with the incredible music video they made. I don't think i've had an album on repeat this much since Alter Bridge's Blackbird album. Absolutely sensational. (I'm almost 50 years old, not the typical WSS fan surely, grew up on Megadeth/Slayer etc)
You Are We is my favorite album by the Sheffield lads, but I still enjoy this album dispite it being a significant change from that sound.
Yeah, that album is immense!
I quite enjoy them. Leave me alone is 🔥.. Have you heard Exploring Birdsong yet? The singer is one of the back up singers for sleep token. She's really incredible.
Rainbows hands down my favorite musically but To the flowers destroyed me and brought me back up, stirring up feelings buried deep from the time i lost my youngest son (died in his sleep), the video clip for that single deserves an oscar, so damn good and full of layers i had to watch multiple times to catch
Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss 🫂 Thank you for sharing that with me.
@@SteveOGRock I do video work for a living, for real estate mostly, the music video for To the flowers is so great both in concept and execution. The way his life flashes before his eyes on the big screen, the way they meet in the beginning (he's a piano teacher, she's a student walking in for a lesson). Hope you saw it already and my story didn't ruin the punch for you. If you haven't, rush over to watch it, it's masterful
My top 5 are
RANBOWS
Self Help
Enemy Mentality
Dopesick
Leave Me Alone
On the last track. Thanks again man. Love the content
I LOVE this album! Can't stop listening. Will def be on my album of the year list. The perfect mix of modern metal and electronics. Production is huge! 🎧
Just finished my re-listen and I can't understand this album yet. I bet they indeed tried to create a journey, but it didn't work for me like that. Amazing songs like Rainbows, Down and the more-than-decent Leave Me Alone, with the emotional banger that is To The Flowers, feel offset by (imho) uninspired other songs. It almost feels like they had some songs left that they could not put on other albums. 7/10 for me due to the mentioned songs pulling up the grade.
Same songs, same feelings. 2nd album in a row with 50/50
I find it funny that, outside of To the Flowers (which is less than half as impactful without the video), everyone only mentions the heavy tracks.
Which are probably the most by the numbers, basic ass metalcore. If they were anymore predictable, I'd think a record executive dictated them to the band.
@@nolankuffner3573 WSS can write great slower, less heavy songs. They're just not on this album, if you'd ask me.
@@nolankuffner3573 What do you consider ''the heavy tracks'' exactly on this album? I find 0 tracks on this album very predictable especially for While She Sleeps who since You Are We could be criticized for playing it too safe. This is a very experimental record for them. Maybe not for another band but what kind of metric is that?
There were a couple of tracks that (for me) were a bit meh, but otherwise I loved this, both as individual tracks and as an album. Someone clearly spent some time putting this together into a coherent and well-structured form. Need more from these guys!
I honestly don't know how I feel about this album yet... I've listened a couple of times now, plus your video! But I just can't decide 😅
The flow of the album doesn't sit right with me, and there was so much going on in most songs that nothing then stood out or was overly memorable. Or it was "filler".
It made me sad that the opening song didn't lead into Leave Me Alone. No Feeling Is Final should have led into To The Flowers too - they had the same sounds.
Instrumentation is great, I give them that! And I like parts of songs, just not a whole song, but it's still not a bad album? I honestly don't know how I feel overall 😂😂
That second interlude gives me hard Sky Eats Airplane/ Enter Shikari influence
Fun album, hit the nail on the head with the limp bizkity parts. Not bad, not completely for me.
On another note; Avralize's debut album Freaks is out. Even though you already listened to a couple of songs, can we expect an album reaction?
100% yes, I will check out the rest of it.
@@SteveOGRock looking forward to it!
Banging album
I love While she sleeps, I've been a fan of theirs since 2016, I think You are we was their highest point, then they released decent albums like So what? or Sleeps society but with some very good songs like Guilty party or Eye to eye, but gradually adding elements which do not convince me such as electronic sounds and robotic voices, which is fine if it is a little for some songs, but I feel that in self hell abused this resource a lot, they also added other things like rap, which I feel doesn't go with their style and they tried to sound very different sometimes nu metal style maybe and experiment too much, which resulted in a mix of random things that is not completely understandable and I think it doesn't sound that good, besides losing its essence a bit. I have mixed feelings about this album, I love While She Sleeps but this album is probably the weakest that they have offered us, I can only rescue 4 songs out of the 12 (Rainbows, Down, Wildfire, To the flowers) and the rest are not my type of coffee, in any case I will always continue to support the boys.
Listened to this a few times now and would agree with what people are saying about song order. Big week though with erra and northlane, so this is just an extra for me!
46:20 AFI MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️🗣️
WTF IS A BAD SONG? 🗣️🔥🔥
man I love AFI
i think the moral of the song is to leave him alone 😏
WSS has always been innovative. I think they know what they did with YAW and SW?. They perfected their sound and this is just... radical in the opposite direction. It feels more like a stepping stone less then a perfect album if that makes sense
A bit more than a stepping stone
@@souran1321 Yeah, its a walk. Like its very much the start of figuring out the next step ygm
When I heard wildfire right before you said it I thought… hmm sounds like yellow card. Great album not sure why it’s getting so much hate.
I really dig the instrumental's this band writes especially the guitar parts I can't get behind the sound of the vocals though. The clean singing sounds more like punk rock along with the spoken word stuff I'm not too crazy about. Some very creative ideas as far as the instruments go though. Also Out Of The Blue sounds like an interlude Linkin Park would do with the jittery type electronic sounds and the chopped up drum beats
Out Of The Blue is very 65daysofstatic (Worth checking out if you're into it)
3/5, 6 out of 10.
58 out of 100 (my /100 breakdowns are much more immersive).
There are good moments of instrumentation, a few interesting choruses, well executed cleans and heavy vocals (at times, anyways), but the songs, transitions between songs, and overall album is boring.
I found myself constantly checking the timeline, and the time seems to drag fairly often.
I'd even say it's a chore to listen to.
Genuinely never thought I'd feel that way about this band, but the feeling is one I experienced on every single song, in every single, in just about every second of this LP.
When I listen to this album and think of tracks like you are all you need, the guilty party, steal the sun or four walls I‘m crying out of dissapointment what they’ve become. I‘m not hating on evry track but the most. That’s a pass for me gonna see what the next project brings…😢🫡
