    This field was just over 50 anglers and was jam packed full of the region's best river anglers. I honestly figured it would take about 95" to win based on how the river had been fishing so far this year. My situation didn't unfold the way I wanted it to but I couldn't be more happy for the fella that ended up on top! Big congrats to Ole Busch Fiolka! Took home a nice check with first place and lunker!

    which hobie kayak/SUP do you like the best for moving rivers? Thinking of getting the itrek9, lynx or outback for my river.

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  Рік тому +1

      I would go with the Outback. The iTrek 9 would be my last choice because it's only one chamber and any puncture could be a very bad situation. The iTrek line is bad all around because of how much they decreased the weight by decreasing the amount of material in the structure of the boat hull. The Lynx is made out of bad material for rocks and is very very loud when current runs along it.

      @@JakeHarshman Do you have issues with your itrek?

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  Рік тому +1

      Yes! Many! I have put holes in it about 25% of the trips I've had it out. Most of thpse have been fish fin pokes. The issue is that Hobie designed and intended this iTrek line for recreation, not fishing. They decreased the weight significantly and in doing so they decreased the material from a 1000 Denier to a 500 Denier from the i11s to the iTrek 11 (as well as the 9 and 14 models). This creates issues for the angling owner. I even know some Hobie team members that have had similar issues. They won't talk about that though because they're being compensated to promote, not to be transparent. I'd strongly suggest you bypass the iTrek line if you intend to fish out of it or operate in shallow rocky environments.

    I’m a casual bass fisherman lakes and rivers. I really like the portability and low weight of the itrek11. Do you feel it’s durable enough for fishing? Thanks

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  8 місяців тому +1

      I do NOT think it is! It is a recreational boat at best.

    Is the 11 more stable to stand up on than the 9 foot? Or why did you choose the 11?

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  2 роки тому +1

      I never tried the iTrek 9. For what I do with it, the 9 would be a terrible idea since it's a single chamber. The iTrek 11 is plenty stable for me though, sorry I can't help with the 9 info.

    Looks like you glued on h rail setup…. What else did you do?

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  2 роки тому

      I used YakAttack Switch Pads to put the H Rails on (they are cemented on there)
      Then I attached accessories like rod storage and anchor line management to the H Rails. There's another Switch Pad on the front with an eyelet to run the anchor line through.

    Hey Jake, New subscriber here. Really enjoy your videos. I’ve fished the Susquehanna for many years from Williamsport to Goldsboro. I also loved fishing tournaments, but I’m too old for that now. I would love to buy a fishing kayak with some type of pedal drive. With the shallow water conditions in the summer, what brand ok kayak should I be looking at that would be able to handle the rocks and ledges in low water. I know you’re the man to ask! Thanks in advance, Bruce. (My main area would be Halifax, Millersburg area). Also any info on dealers would help too.

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  2 роки тому

      Hey Bruce, thanks for reaching out. When it comes to shallow water use, it's very hard to be better than the Hobie drives. Any 2020 Hobie drive should come with kick-up fins. The nice thing about a Hobie though is you can use it with a flutter kick in even more shallow water. That said, I think the best middle of the road boat is the Hobie Outback. It drafts pretty shallow and is relatively easy to paddle even when pedals aren't an option.
      The unfortunate thing is our most local dealer isn't the greatest with price & customer service so with that said, I'd advise you to bypass the local dealer and go to Delaware Paddlesports in Lewes DE. They always have a good stock of boats AND... they're a tax free state so you save on sales tax.

    I know you're the person to ask this. I'm looking to take me and my girl out on the susquehanna, for the first time, with our pedal drives. Can you tell me the safest area with the least current with good smallmouth activity? Is the Sunbury area deep enough for pedal drive and productive enough for sizable smallies?

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  2 роки тому

      At the current water level, no. Sunbury is relatively shallow below the fabridam. I can't speak to what's above the Fabridam because I have not fished it. Deep enough to safely use a pedal drive right now in this river at this level is gonna be hard to find. Your best bet is to organize a float to cover water.

      @@JakeHarshman thanks Jake. I heard you commenting about fishing pinchot in a past video. Any chance of you making a fishing video there?

    • @JakeHarshman
      @JakeHarshman  2 роки тому

      If I do it would not be until closer to fall. I got way too many tournaments on the river this summer to bypass it to go fish Pinchot. Pinchot is super fun in the spring and fall! The A Rig works especially well there during that time because that lake has shad.

    Just discovered your channel. I grew up fishing Susquehanna River around Williamsport & areas north from a 12' aluminum boat. Years ago, was some of the best fishing I had. Now I live in MD & started kayak fishing last year. Also saw vid where you were fishing Juniata River & my wife graduated from Juniata College. Really enjoy watching you fish those bodies of water that I've fished. I subbed. Keep fishing & filming.
