- Check out the first 23 minutes of World of Horror, an upcoming 1-bit roguelite with turn-based combat, terrifying cosmic old gods, and art that was made entirely using Microsoft Paint!

From Old Gods, to morbid events and the occasional ritual, World of Horror is looking like the Junji Ito and Lovecraft crossover I've always wanted! What are your favourite Ito or Lovecraft stories? - Jesse
Uzumaki
I remember digging through a Lovecraft compilation book I recently purchased and found a great short story called The Tomb about a young boy who becomes obsessed with a large tomb near his home. It was quite interesting and had a nice slow build up towards the twist at end. Lots of Lovecrafts work is not all Old gods and cosmic nihilism and I enjoy the range the man displays I'm some of those short stories.
The character at 21:30 is literally Junji Ito
He is even named as "Struggling Artist".
I'm impressed that the art was made with ms paint!
And just by one guy
I mean, The Big Lez show was created by some kid on MS paint in class
@@MemeGang420 everyone knows you have the best references
DaFluffyPotato UA-camr arguably does some of the best pixel art games on UA-cam and all his art is done with ms paint.
All the 4k resolutions, advanced graphical prowess generated by the most advanced and up-to-date graphic cards...
But this dude made me cower in fear with pictures made using Microsoft Paint...
Something went wrong somewhere when people began making games for the sake of entertainment back then compared to today, for profits...

The creators of this game must be big Junji Ito fans. The opening at 0:26 is right out of Uzumaki.
You mean creator. This was made by one person
@@user-xf8pj9kh8y Oops. My bad.
I get the feeling hes more of a lovecraft fan since thats where it all began
@@FimbongBass it says in the description of the game that it was inspired by both junji and lovecraft
That's what I thought, and that first snail chapter f*cked me up for a few months.
Ahh yes this is very Junji Ito looking
Exactly what I thought as I saw this
you mean lovecraft looking, junji has done anything outside of the cosmic horror norm that is unique enough to discredit lovecraft which was his inspiration
@@FimbongBass both were the creators inspiration
Wonders Have you even read anything that Junji Ito has written or? Cause over 90% of his work is entirely his own. He only uses cosmic horror in a few of his stories, and as far as I know you can’t own an entire genre to yourself I.e cosmic/existence based horror.
I can't get over how beautiful this game is. I love the aesthetics
this is taking me sooo far back........ love it.
I can't stop groovin' to the music
i already see a world of horror jumpscare compilation
This is exactly what I want
I've been kinda obsessed with RPGs at the moment and this really scratches that itch
have you tried old pc-88 and pc-98 horror rpgs? There is some great stuff there
@@HistoriadorGeek no I haven't any recommendations?
I don't know where to start
Pretty awesome that the entire art was done in MS paint! I
I was looking forward to this game for a very long time.
I see an AE86 drifting. I’m calling it now, Bunta is the final boss.
Why did the person playing NEVER use the options on the left when in the apartment investigation wtf was driving me crazy
Reminds me of Uzumaki
18:17 lol, perks at the left hand side get ignored
Looks scary. Might pick it up.
19:50 is really scary
Looks very retro
If this is anything like Lovecraft's and Junji Ito's work then, everyone in this game is going to die or wish they were dead in the end.
because of its rogue like qualities and many branching stories/endings therell probably be hella deaths left and right
Aye, some eldritch fun right there.
That AE86 Sold me
I'm already in love
Looks and sounds awesome. Games like this leave a lot to the imagination. Images and text can be interpreted in so many different ways and gets the creative juices flowing. I think that's something that's lacking in today's media and why a lot of it feels so derivative and uninspired.
So...is this game still a demo or is it a full game?
"...and the eldith horrrors popularised by the authors like H.P. Lovecraft..."
Well... he created them. :P
Ehhh, not really, Robert Chambers wrote The King In Yellow in 1895, a couple decades before Lovecraft.
@@eduardodiaz9942 that's one character, Hastur.
when does it come out? trying to buy it but only the demo is available
Early access right now on Steam, developers offer more info there.
Comes out tomorrow on steam in early access
Junji Ito and Lovecraft!? It's like they're making this game just for me
Daaaamn that looks creepy and cooool ^w^
Love it, just got it
Will this come to console?
Look's nice, I Will buy !
It's like a mix of Junji Ito with the X-Files
This game was inspired by junji ito, which is funny because both the creator and junji ito have worked as dentists in the past
Junji ito and H.P Lovecraft also "Is" not "was"
I’m buying this
this music is fuckin dope
When can i get this for the ps4
18:30 He missed both perk selections...
Ugh.
This will be cool if it comes to the switch and uses the touch screen in place of the mouse
This looks very cool and I am interested in seeing more
Even the Vita would be awesome for this as a homebrew
The thing in the thumbnail looks like a less edgier Mettaton
Will Junji Ito review this game?
Yesss!
Let’s hope for Nintendo switch verison
so far i've seen 0 people that actually does NOT peek into the well LUL
Why is there a Petty Thief in a forest?
21:28
Lol that's Junji Ito
0:50 AE86 :)
The music is kind of ruining it for me, but looks cool.
What's my girlfriend doing on the thumbnail?
YES.
Reminds me of flipnote studio
Haychepee Lovecraft
So this was created using Microsoft Paint 👏🏽
will this be available for xbox?
Yes and on gamepass.
@@duhstymunkey8830 do you know when it comes to xbox?
Hmm... I didnt know Microsoft Paint could do programming
If you're curious: the engine used to make this game is Game Maker Studio.
I played this at Pax South, enjoyed it quite a bit. My one gripe is that it feels a little sub-linear.
@B. Allen Carroll A bit of both. ;)
We need a series
played this game on itchio...was harder than i thought. would die randomly if i didnt know what was coming.
Interesting
lol think about the guy that put forward this idea in that company
It's an indie game, he is made the game himself with few other people.
@King Hill Yeah.
Although I don't think it'd be too crazy for him. Like he clearly loves weird Japanese manga like Junji Ito, as well as knows about the obscure adventure-RPG games from PC-98 era.
It might look crazy for someone NOT familiar with those things.
Goated game,
Esperar o Alanzoka jogar isso
Acho que não rola jshshd
Freaky soundtrack
Junji Ito the Game?
Yes!
So many Gameboy vibes
Hi
Million subscribers but k views.
Idk about the 8 bit music for a horror theme
Whoa
when you make an entire game out of ms paint...
Junji Ito type beat
Wahou ça fait peur
Damn, that looked amazing... until I read roguelite.
whys that a problem?
@@averynewtown2782 its a fairly niche genre that isn't for everybody
@@ColombianThunder its more of a mechanic than anything thats perfect for a short horror game like this
@@averynewtown2782 i agree, but not everyone is into roguelike/lite mechanics
@@ColombianThunder shame for those people.
Nerrrrrds
Dont like the artstyle it kinda break the immersion part of a horror game for me
Shut up
I love Lovcraftian horror. The graphics look kinnda cute. But the music... Oh Elder Gods... That music turns me off... Probably will try it, because I'm a sucker for this sort of weird adventures, but I sure hope the music can be turned off.
Interesting concept, obnoxious soundtrack
I hate reading
This game look terrible...
I get more lovecraftian vibes then junji ito, since junji ito got his inspiration from lovecraft, it makes more sense to me, without lovecraft junji ito would have never made his works
terrible soundtrack. No thanks.
this look boring
