- Опубліковано 5 жов 2017
- Post Malone was already having a good year, filled with accolades and his Platinum debut album Stoney. His new single, the 21 Savage-assisted “rockstar” is well on its way to hitting more milestones, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, in addition to racking up 133 million-plus Spotify streams and another 22 million on Soundcloud. Tank God produced the track, and he sat down with Genius to explain the creative process behind it.

All that work to get Windows on the Mac book just for FL studio, & then FL makes a Mac compatible version lmao
Most people don't understand to make a beat that is perceived as simple but has a crazy vibe takes a talented producer to do, time & time again. Much respect
and the engineer too! that loop is so gooood
People forget what makes the song sound good is because they compliment to each other not because there's postmalone or the beat sounded good.
He my man

JuiceBeLike nah bruh it’s not about who you know it’s about who knows you
Dude made one of the biggest songs of this year with a kit thats old as fuck - Sooo dope.
people make hits with stock sounds... doesnt matter if you know what to do
Some producers doing 100 channels on every song. Meanwhile this guy did it with like three patterns. Goes to show that composition is king.
Eli Grand this song is nearly a year old...
calohtar theres no composition tho.
Nope. the snippet with the vocals and same beat has been floating around since december last year.
The outro is the most fire thing i’ve ever heard
Dude didn't even make it tho
i do appreciate Genius for everything they do for the rap game. from beat explanations to lyrics explanations to the insides of the songs and stuff, it's really cool to watch
producers run the game

Ok
Thank you genius! I feel like produces never get the props they deserve.
Facts
beats like these are easy to make, they're generic, you just need an app and the computer/app does the rest for you
Jonny cee and video editors
thats the dumbest shit ive ever heard in my life
Temuulen Altangerel then you should start making some sick ass beats since it's 'so easy' right?
Imagine 21 on here showing how made the Bank Account beat, “I like that snare, it sound real gangsta”
but i thought this beat was made by metro boomin
it is
Simplicity is the key and that man knew the secret
😂😂
This beat isn’t simple at all.
@Gabriele How tf is it a basic beat at all?
As a producer man, what I learned is. Most producers are lucky if they get a hit record. And most if they do get one, they'll never get another one. The big names you see all the time like Mike Will, Metro Boomin, Southside, Lex Lugger all them guys, are super producers. And average producer or below average producer can get lucky and make a hit song. But only the really skilled guys can keep coming with the hits. It's so many producers that had a hit record and they never sniffed another one again. So saying that to say, say if you happen to get a hit record, savor that shit, and get all the money and royalties off of that bitch that you can, cause you never know. You might be chasing another hit record for the rest of your life and never get one again.
What if your over emphasis on luck is what has been holding you back??? All these producers who you look up to were like you one day, they didn't give up they kept learning more and improving their productions. Do that.Don't attribute stuff to luck.Don't concentrate on the unknown variables.Concentrate on the known common variable,HARD WORK.
The reason a lot of producers wont make it is because they all try and sound the same. everybody wants to make type beats, they all blend together.
Unless you're Tay Keith and just make the same shit over and over again
@@garcongarcon yea but we should delete our comments as we dont want people copying our idea of being origional. That way only us are doing it haha
I think when you stop chasing the train, you will live a much happier life AND produce better beats since you dont stress over "making it" in the industry. Do it for your bros, spit some lyrics on it, have fun.
these are so interesting

3:01 the Outro is very well produced. It mesmerises me every time I listen to it.
the ultimate creativity principle.
simplicity is a key!
sad to know, that there were no chilly and vibey tracks, like "rockstar" for a long time.
I'd be glad to hear the "rockstar 2" or something with the same chilly vibe.
good job, Tank and Louis!

As an aspiring audio engineer, this was really inspirational to me. Seeing someone being genuinely happy and satisfied with your final mix is the best feeling in the world. It makes you feel truly involved and boosts your personal morale.
I honestly can't wait to go to college for this stuff.
I know i agree with you
Anyone else practicing thier "Deconstructed" interview in their mind right now? Lol

Caution: A lot of butthurt producers down in the comments, complaining that this track is so simple and they can make such better beats, meanwhile they living in their momma's basement eating Nutella sandwiches and begging people to follow their Soundcloud.

The vocal mix is the reason this track is so dope
definitely not far from the truth. in general. it's everything.
but yeah, the vocals, the layering, the crazy echo\delay
everb wrapping the stereo imagine.
there was a clear vision in this song and they executed it perfectly,
This is my binge content. Watching the making and production of my favorite songs. Thank you for making these.
Anything is possible. He saw the opportunity and took it quick with confidence, inspiring.
All these college dudes cookin up fire gives me hope i can make it as well
You ass
Not to burst your bubble but he's friend with P diddy son
Akash Dave exactly it's hard to get a come up unless you have connections
start dj'ing local club nights, helps get your name out and you could land connections. How do you think all the edm kids are getting so big so quick? Admittedly harder for hip hop producers because it's harder to play out your own shit but still.
Carlos Martinez ALWAYS. STRIVE. AND. PROSPER.
Love these types of videos. I think its a great idea that you get to see how the beat was made.
The beat is so simple yet legendary. The point is not whether you can replicate this beat, but if you can think of that idea in the first place.
Cory in the House is a producer know
so true , i got on him for that

This whole video gave me chills... this guy is a legend, and it shows, you gotta be out there loving your grind, cooking on your break for the love and passion, then one day you walk into the guy who breaks a billboard no.2 chart place with your blood sweat and tears, dreams are made like this, and I'm grateful for this story and video! Propos to everyone involved!!!!!
Wow, love this guys attitude, very confident in himself. Looking forward to more of his work.
I like him. He understands real production versus beat making which is something we really lack in hip hop at times. Its what makes the difference between a basic trap song with nothing interesting and artists that have their own style and create consistent bangers and quality music.
Most unexpected but 🔥 collab of 2k17
“Put me in the room with the artist” real artistry 💯🎨
That's my lil bro from the Projects. He been making beats. He knew the right people and I'm glad he got in.
the saying,"its all about who you know" applys here.
Jafa Cakes he produced a hit song just on the fact on who he knew? Hes good at his craft as well. It all plays a part. Cant take that away from him
It's true though. I'm not saying he isn't good at what he does, but it was the connections that he had which propelled him to where he is today.
Jafa Cakes if you knew you every famous person on a first hand basis u still would be broke.
its not who you know here he was at the studio doing other work for himself or someone and POST just happen to see him passing thru after his session ...90% of producers are referred from other artists or hear beats and ask who produced it and they tell their manager they wanna work with them....so its not like he knew post personally he just happen to be at the same place as him
I don’t get why some people are complaining about it. Why don’t you guys go out there and build connections too? Lol
Those 808's are hard af
Cool video bro :)
Check my channel for some free FLPs!

Tank absolutely Murdered .Hope this dude got a ridiculous check...for that masterpiece
I’ve always loved that beat. Finally a good deconstructed

*hell
One of the hardest trap beats ever made! the vibe is crazy and those kicks slap
Its all about the beat yes lyrics count but the beat needs to be real catchy
Preach 🙌
Sad
Now and days it's all about the beat u can say anything lmao
nosirraheed Fr. If this generation was a combination of 80-90s lyrics and the beats from nowadays, this generation of rap would be legendary.
Original Joey Badass - Paper Trails
2:18 he's using Windows on a macbook
Probably because FL Studio is not that stable on Mac, it's a really Windows oriented software
no u big dummy he has the cracked version of fl 11.dmg
Bootcamp
Windows on a macbook isn’t anything suspect. I used to own a macbook that ran windows because OSX is garbage
He also had a stolen windows copy
Besides his very obvious talent just in the way he speaks through this interview Tank seems like an extremely genuine and nice person. It's nice for someone to come off like that in the world we live in. Obviously not knowing him personally.
much love bro. U really put your soul into it.
Akademiks is telling y'all, these producers are making these rappers nowadays. Dont get it fucked up, post knows what he's doing. But the other rappers...

Post Malone is trash bro. The best made him too.
Kano IX only trash here is you.
Post Malone sounded the best
How many more bangers does Post Malone have to put out before he gets some respect on his fucking name?
I watch this video every month for motivation to keep going forward in making beats, Tank God is finna be a legend. Watch it for it
I really love this! When I first heard the song I was like wowwww the detail! I really loved the outro.. when I could hear Post saying “Rockstar,Rockstar...Feel just like aaaa” COOL
Amazing work !
Big thanks to him for making this great song
A nice reminder that the producers are the real geniuses, I raise my glass to you.

That background feel of the beat, kind of did everything
first thing that caught my attention with this song was how dope the beat was, good work
The outtro gives me goosebumps every time...every time
Feels like that hi hat and snare combination is the real highlight of the track
3:53 Bruh I fucking jumped 😭😭 read my name
the key change in the melody at the intro is so dope
This is probably is the coolest deconstructed out there
Doing the drums before doing the melody is like putting in the milk before the cereal
Nur Which half the population does. 😂
Isn’t that what Travis does lol
I get u but it gets like the rythm going i feel like when i do melodies first it dosent turn into a beat but more of a orchesta haha
I always do drums first
im dead
"and my break is usually just cooking up" 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
That was a nice work Bro...
This is soo simple but its supercool!!!... This makes hope for us simple and bedroom producers
