For 6V6 tubes.. sounds great.. as i have seen.. the more bells and whistles.. the more I need a cheat sheet for where i like things.. getting old sucks.. The Ceriatone stuff I have heard all has its place in rock royalty.. not too many bummers in the lineup..
Just like the bigger brother the SOY is not the most plug n play amp out there, but there are many great tones inside, and you definitely showed us some. It's not as broootal as other modern amps, but delivers metal in spades
That little bitty ceriatone yeti has a mean ass bark . Nice, sweet.......... 👍 Demo . You have to find the sweet spot on this amp ...Kyle found it , sounds good .
Ask Nik at Ceriatone, he's very helpful and answers emails fast. Pretty sure there's just a few preamp component differences between the Yeti and Chupacabra. And a 50w Yeti is gonna be louder than the 20w Son of Yeti. Like I said, Nik can tell you more, these are his creations! Or rather, his take on modded Marshall circuits.
Sounds great! Man I finally bought a balaguer guitar because you seem to really enjoy yours. Unfortunately it was unplayable out of the box. Multiple high frets, headstock had some finishing problems and the frets had terrible tool marks towards the body. I was so bummed. The neck was incredible. Was so let down. Ugh.
Bummer man, sorry to hear that. I have 4 now and all 4 have been perfect out of the box. Kind of insane actually. Sorry you got a dud but it happens with every brand
@@belligerentamateur yeah that's totally true. I'm sure I'll try another one, but I'll maybe stay away from the standard series. Really dug the shape and the neck. Would have loved to had it
It is unfortunate that the gain stages are not footswitchable. Regardless of how people say how well build and good sounding it is, and it is made in my home country yet no professional use them on stage, everyone are using switchable channel amps that sounded mostly as good but far more usable. I imagine that lunchbox setup like this is more useful in the studio or playing at home.
Nice! I thumbed through your older videos and I don't believe you've demoed the AH-100, aka the Friedman BE-100 copy. There are basically no demoes of that amp on UA-cam at all, was always curious about that one.
Man, watching your video made me excited to go practice with the band on Thursday since we didn’t rehearse for the last 3 weeks Haha My Ceriatone King Chupacabra (name I gave haha) is in our room so I didn’t play with it since then! On a side, for the short amount of time you played with the Solar, I thought the amp sounded way better, to my ears anyway. It’s like the amp opened up big time! Probably because of the active pickups! Great video my man! Cheers!
@@belligerentamateur That’s what I did yesterday! :D I also re-tweaked the amp after re-watching this video cause I thought my KK was a tad ear piercing so I lowered the treble at 11 clockwise, put the mid at 2 and pushed the presence at 2-3 and voilà! I also reduced gain 2 at 10, put gain 1 at 2 and put the pussy trimmer at 3 and it’s now tight and clear as day! I made a big difference!
I have one of these, and it's easily one of the nicest amps I've ever played through. Yours looks like it's been to hell and back, unfortunately! But you're doing the Plexi mode all wrong, man! For regular Plexi mode, Set the Gains to 9:30, Bright switch 1 flipped to the RIGHT, Bright 2 in the MIDDLE, ERA in the MIDDLE. Master at 3:00. EQ all at NOON to start, including Presence, and DEEP ALL THE WAY OFF. PUSSY TRIMMER to taste (though I recommend around 1:00-2:00). I think you're going a little too crazy with the Gain knobs, for one thing. And with BOTH Bright switches on at the same time, it's gonna be more difficult to get good tones. Try starting in Plexi mode, the way I described it above, then start adding some Deep (Resonance). Add a Boost to that, without messing with the ERA switch. I admit, and like you said, it's a tricky one to dial in correctly. Just figured I need to let folks know that for good classic rock sounds, and a good base starting point, it can sound MUCH better than you had it set. This amp is insanely versatile, and I love it. It's HAND WIRED, which is a wonderful thing, it's bright, present, VERY Marshall, and it sounds absolutely KILLER when paired with a Friedman Dirty Shirley Mini, which is much darker and more bass heavy. Don't get me wrong, you can get SERIOUS low end from the Son of Yeti, but the Friedman Dirty Shirley Mini is just naturally darker and more bass heavy, and not in a bad way. It's a great compliment to the Son of Yeti. Play both amps together through something like a Radial Twin City and you're in absolute TONE HEAVEN. I play both amps through their own dedicated 2x12s with Creamback 75s up top and Vintage 30s in the bottom. Make sure you get the BUFFERED EFFECTS LOOP option when you order one of these. Also, I've never had ANY ISSUE running pedals out front, although I don't use any diode clipping from the amp. You shouldn't need or want to use a boost with the diode clipping on! I play it in Plexi mode almost exclusively, and it's absolutely beautiful. Watch Leon Todd's video of this amp to get a better idea of how to dial this in. ua-cam.com/video/Q1pNnNc7Rs8/v-deo.html
Funny how Kyle got speechless whenever he heard it plugged in to the solar with those actives 😂. Dude that amp had some killer tones for sure and I thought it was boosted the entire video but it wasn't and that says a lot about an amp.damn thing sounded incredible to me 🔥🤘🔥
Almost pulled the trigger on this one. Sounds badass. And those chops... :O I settled on a Molecular 50. Waiting for it right now. Great job! I'm going to go watch your Chupa video.
Hey man did your amp arrive? I want to pull the trigger on a Ceriatone but wait times seem crazy. Heard waiting times are about a year at the moment. Thx
I saw modded Marshall, I wonder if you could get some Fear Factory "Obsolete"-era tones out of this beast by scooping the mids completely out and maybe throwing an EQ in the effects loop to take out even more mids, if it has an effects loop. Or, I don't know, that might sound like shit, the way the volume on the modern mode is set up.
I owned a Metalhead modded amp (same amp Dino used in the first few FF records), and I currently have a Yeti on order. I think the Yeti will be able to pull it off great as it’s a tighter sounding amp. The main difference is where the Ceriatone has extra diodes for clipping, the Metalhead has an extra preamp tube for the gain.
Very cool- Mezzabarba does it for Marshall SLO stuff for me. But as I play more, I lean toward the high gain Mesa/Diezel sound. Next amp will be a Diezel VH4 even though very expensive. The mini Diezel amp does not sound that great to me. Diezel needs a smaller tube amp version.
Obviously you noise gated your recordings, but not the talking;) how do you feel about this amps noise floor, compared to other ones of similar gain territory?

That thing finally found a gear that works when you hit it with that EMG 85.
Yes sir I concur 🔥🤘🔥
EMG 85 has been one of my fave bridge position pups for decades.
EMG 85 is an iconic sound
Sounds good! It’s hilarious because all of the “flubby” tones is where I would probably live for lead work! HHaba
No one’s noticed the “son of yeti” is in Iron Maiden’s font?
Reminds me of what we were doing in the early 80s. Tweek tweak tweak. Getting that tone the old-fashion way.
Got So excited when you said you bought back your Chupacabra. Seriously man, with your style that's the sickest amp.
She's chilling, waiting to be played. Had it for 6 months and haven't touched it 😎
awesome little amp. Waiting a year now for my Ceriatone AH 100 deluxe to be finished. Hopefully soon.
Holy crap that little amp sounds amazing!! Awesome vid Kyle 🤘🏼
finally something that does not have too much low mids.
Never saw that shape Balaguer before , seen the V’s, but never an explorer..does it have a model name?
Just like the bigger brother the SOY is not the most plug n play amp out there, but there are many great tones inside, and you definitely showed us some. It's not as broootal as other modern amps, but delivers metal in spades
Yep. Those things are sweet little garage/basement amps.
Sounds to me the boost is a bit redundant if it achieves the tone you want with just the bright switches. Maybe a bit of a clean boost for solos.
Exactly. No need to boost this amp when using the diode clipping modes.
That little bitty ceriatone yeti has a mean ass bark . Nice, sweet.......... 👍 Demo . You have to find the sweet spot on this amp ...Kyle found it , sounds good .
Keep the ceriatone demos coming!
Its a great amp.been running this with a dime krankenstien fullstack doing the wet dry wet thing….. this little amp is a monster with some pedals
How does this compare to the 50w Yeti? And how does the Chupa differ from the Yeti?

Maaaaan this is on my short list of amps I wanted to build/play!
Love your channel bro, you’re killer at dialing in an amp.
Thank you very much! Glad to have you here.

Was that some De La Cruz I heard? B2T80’s
How would you describe the differences between the Yeti & Chupacabra?
The very first video I saw on your channel was the Chupacabra. I got the Leviathan and it is badass!
I've been wanting a Ceriatone amp for a while now have you done a demo for the overtone SSS 50 Ceriatone?
I doubt Kyle will review a Dumble style amp on his channel. He’s only interested in playing those thrash riffs, unfortunately.

Damn you pronounced it like how we malaysians pronounce the name. kudos mate haha.
Had to ask Nik himself! lol
It looks like you left the MXR overdrive for most of that. Which might explain why it was so bass heavy and compressed sounding.
Sure didn't. The blue bump light is on whether the ped is engaged or not. Also, having a boost on would have the opposite effect of "bass heavy"
I stand corrected
Sounds amazing. Why did I sell mine? 😢
Dude that amps kicks some ass!! Playing not bad either!! Awesome video as always Kyle!! Also wanted to ask you why do you think of the boss super od??
Never tried it my man!
@@belligerentamateur you have have it .. it’s the yellow pedal you have up there!!!

Ceriatone amps are built pretty good. Certainly better than a EVH or a MESA. But the ENGL Fireball 25 is still the king of these small amps.
