the calamity is actually triggered by different effects and is very deadly - early game the best option is to find it on the map quickly and destroy it before the countdown ticks down or to run to the nearest portal and extract. Fighting is almost garantueed death
I've been so excited for this one. I'm going to wait until 1.0 or a PS5 release to finally dig in. Thanks for covering it.

@@HotPocketEnjoyer this thing runs fine at 1080p high settings on one of my build that has an ancient in technological terms RX 580 with an i5 9600k so anyone with a decent gaming PC built in past 6 years would have no issue with this game at 1080p.

I love it, Im level 14 or 15 now and still on the first area. The look is amazing and the new things it constantly throws at you are challenging but not impossible.
For not a fps gamer u clicked on alot of heads!
This games setting and atmosphere with the fog and pea shooter made me anxious in a good way.

This game made me realize how weird it is that no devs have ever made a PvE extraction game ! Extraction is already such an underrated genre, but solo extraction is such a missed opportunity :O
There is Zero Sievert. Except it's 2d. But it's PvE Extraction anyway
Mass effect 3 and 4 pve coop was like this.
@@chie970 Nice recommendation and really relevant. Sadly it's made by one dev and is still very Early Access after one year.
Risk of Rain 2 is PVE/3rd Person Shooter and amazing! Can also be played in teams.

You sure did a better first run than me. I didn't last a lot of seconds to be honest. Took time to get used to the controls and mechanics.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that distance calculations are going wonky whenever elevation is involved.
This game looks so good, I just wish that it was on steam.
its a phenomenal game in my oppinion but Content is very limited at the moment, so even if you wait you will get a good deal. But i mean epic is not that bad, everyone should make an account if only for the free games they give out each week. Also they make the engine that makes double A studios being able to produce games that look as good as this, let them get their piece of the pie
I hate it when devs go EGS exclusive but I'm ok with it when it's only for the early access period. It's best to wait for a Steam release anyway since the game will be much more feature complete and you'll have access to Steam's superior features without having to fiddle with adding as a non-Steam game.
It also makes Linux and Steam Deck support much simpler. And I personally greatly value being able to download my games through Big Picture Mode with a controller so I never have to touch a keyboard and mouse.
EGS has absolutely zero features I actually care about so I will never touch it and I have way too many games on Steam to play that I don't mind waiting for a release on the superior platform.
Cut the cord. Life existed before Steme, life will go on after Steme.

With your range im certain you starting gun is a hand cannon in its true meaning like a judge with 4/10 shells in it.
The only fantasy game I've seen a hand cannon seen close to right in was bioshock infinite

I dont know, you seemed good to me lol. Certainly better then I would and better then another youtuber I love to watch. You did not seems to like it to much, but I would almost certainly watch a couple more videos of this one. See the spells, other gun in action the boss and maybe the other map.

Tried the early access, i made a mistake of grinding witchfires and straight up upgrading all of my stats to level 17.. Which made the game really hard especially since I only have the starting pistol and a rifle and no spells lmao

I'm not against atching you explore the full release. I think it's very cool, but I would like to see it where it is best.
very high potential from this start point later ith bigger maps and a coop mode with 2 or maximum 3 players would be awesome to and bigger bosses like raid bosses bigger ones and so on
I still didn't figure out the mushrooms, but I think it's a dice roll, they either heal you or hurt you, doesn't matter what mushroom you pick.
It matters, I just think it changes per expedition or something like that. Cause a cool mushroom stays a cool mushroom for the run at least.
There is a smooth round mushroom that heals you, all others are bad,
The other round mushroom looks a bit rugged and it is a explosive one

the thin pointy brown mushroom, and the mushroom that looks like 2 are fused together are also safe, and the safe mushrooms don't change between expeditions

I played a bit more yesterday an indeed my theory drops, some mushrooms heal you all the time while others damage you. The problem, just like IRL, is that some are so hard to distinguish the good one vs the fun one. I do like this layer of realism though ;)
I do kinda wish they'd also give the game a 3rd person mode. Might aswell have that if our character looks absolutely badass.

It is a roguelite so it is replayable by nature, I would say it is a bit content light right now but still quite fun and likely worth the money. It will surely be _more_ worth the money over time though if you're on the fence.

Man I watched Wander play this too, and the start just seems SO SLOW. Maybe it's fun enough that the player doesn't notice, but come on, it seemingly takes like 4 runs to get your first spell or second weapon.
Although neither of them decided to break/use their witch crystals or whatever, and maybe those could help you power level?
also depends on the runs - if you go in, clear a camp, go out you get like a level per run, after that 1 or 2 of those runs for the first unlocks or use the coins. i played for 2 evenings and have almost everything unlocked in research. Its just, when you make your first playthrough you do not know how to do it efficiently and also lose some witchfire to dying =)
I dont know if its just me but I definitely see some Destiny influence with how the guns handle, shoot, and reload. Honestly thats just a positive for me because thats my favorite part about the gameplay
This kind of feels like a cross between fps King of the hill type games and Skyrim, with a dash of dark souls. And that could be a really cool thing. Altho, I'm not sure you're intended to beat the boss in the EA. I do like this lore they're building, but dang do I wanna be team witch.
I said it on splattercats video and I'll say it here. 40$ is steep for the content provided in early access.
I would already be playing this but the epic games store is so trash, that because my bank card is due to expire in 2.5 months, they won't accept it, stating, use a card that is not going to expire within the next 2 months.
It feels kinda bad to have all those bonkers visual effects going on over that pretty map
The game does look pretty great, but anyone else a little disappointed the people who made Bulletstorm didn't incorporate style points and environmental kills?

I'm literally only commenting to feed the algorithm. I really hope you at least do one more episode on this! Maybe level up a couple times off camera (so it'd be less pressure/easier to concentrate without doing commentary), buy some spells, invest in a couple different guns. I think you'd potentially enjoy it a lot once you got past the beginning phase where you're super weak compared to everything else.
Also, unrelated, I wish melee was a viable option in this game. I love the way it looks and the mechanics and lore, but I'm really not much of a fps player either, unfortunately.
Since devs apparently are still balancing things, maybe give it a try when 1.0 comes out?

It's hard to have something like Doom Eternal when your main inspiration is Hunt Showdown.
@@amergingiles Not exactly like Doom, but more like in the same genre of single player arena shooter. At least that's how their trailer looked like to me.
Well its not like they didnt explain what it will be on their blog or anything... maybe learn to manage your expectations and dont assume what a game is based on screenshots and trailers.
its actually a rouglike mixed with a soulslike mixed with an extraction shooter mixed with destiny gunplay/skills .... the formula works incredible well =)
