First Time hearing Velvet Revolver. Scott Weiland and Slash leave me in pieces!

- Individually, I've heard Scott Weiland on a few Stone Temple Pilots tracks, and of course Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum from Guns & Roses. And having talked with Myles Kennedy extensively in a tea time about his offer to front Velvet Revolver and turning it down, it's just been an itch I knew I needed to scratch at some point. And here we are! What a rollercoaster this one is!

This song is a hard pill to swallow after Scotts passing. The clip and the music are a haunting depiction of addicton to drugs and alcohol. RIP Scott, your voice and memory goes on.
I quit drinking recently because it nearly killed me. My liver started failing and I couldn't urinate. I spent three days in the hospital. After that I was making monthly visits to the hospital after bingeing so I could get ativan so it could ease my hangovers. They were getting so bad I was getting very scared I was on my way out. I checked myself into rehab, and I'll be at 90 days sober tomorrow. The lyrics to this song are so incredibly real to an addict.
People can talk all the shit they want about how Slash is "overrated" and not good "technically". But his sense of melody and his phrasing is next to none.
Weiland didn't get enough credit for this masterpiece of a song.
Velvet revolver is so special in how slash’s guitar is basically it’s own voice singing along with Scott’s
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - "Sour Girl" SOMEBODY has to react to this song. The thing with Weiland was, he had like 3 or 4 very distinct singing voices. From song to song, year to year, you might not even think it was the same guy if you didn't know better. It was incredible.
Great song - strong message and meaning. Velvet Revolver took forever to get off the ground even after they found Scott to sing. He had a real problem with substance abuse which is reflected through images in the video. Slash and Duff have spoken over the years about how hard it was to watch Scott struggle.
I would describe his voice in the beginning of the song as gentle but focused. Piercing is too strong of a word to properly describe it.
I relapsed on drugs and alcohol in the summer of 2021.Shame kept me from interacting with anyone in person so my friendships were all online. Isolation is the one thing I think most all addicts can relate to. June 6th of 2022 I entered the Life Recovery Program at the Union Gospel Mission and have been clean for 2 years 9 days. I am now a peer counselor and work with others that struggle with addiction. This song is a reminder for me, how things were and where I never want to go again.
Now Slither!
Duff McKagen is one my favorite Bassists. His sense of counter melody is incredible, and his tone is gorgeous. ♥️
"Make music your medicine" is 1000% a shirt I would wear.
So many of these videos are heart-wrenching in retrospective, we sang along with Scott, Lane, and Chester’s tortured cries for help and then seemed shocked when they finally succumb to their vices.
Very sad day when Scott passed away, the beautiful thing is, we have music like this to remind us of the magnificent talent and voice that he had, Velvet Revolver is a great side project, does not get enough recognition in my opinion
I think what made me happiest about this is just how kind you are Elizabeth, the world needs more people caring, thank you.
I can't watch this video without crying. RIP Scott.
Two different voices singing the same song. Scott's vocals and Slash's guitar. Beautiful ❤
Their best song IMO. Slash’s guitar sound is just golden here. Scott’s voice is incredible and you can tell how personal the lyrics are to him.
Scott made it to 48, which is something of a miracle. He was a man who was not likely to make it to 30. He was on the Howard Stern show one time and just picked up a gas mask and put it on to start a song, and it was just epic. What a performer. RIP
Such heart wrenching song! With Scott's voice riding a ragged emotional edge and Slash's fantastic tone, it's inevitable that the tears will flow!
