Railroad Crossings In Sardinia, Macon & Winchester. RR Switching On Cincinnati Eastern Railroad
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 чер 2024
- Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET with a big train. Includes railroad switching, both sides of train and chasing the train eastbound. We see the train in Sardinia, Macon and Winchester, Ohio. This train had 13 cars to set off at the grain elevator spur in Winchester. It also has 10 cars for rock in Plum Run and 9 cars for loading railroad ties in Peebles, Ohio. I got a few interesting railroad crossings also.
I took Chessie with me. The first scene is downtown Sardinia. I filmed it from the other side of the crossing that I rarely film from. I also got the Amish in the scene. I have been seeing more Amish people in my area in the past 20 years or so. They have bought a few farms near me.
The next scene is just east of Sardinia and half way to Macon. I got it at this crossing and then went to Macon where we see the other side of the train crossing the Rt62 railroad crossing.
The final location is the grain spur in Winchester. They cut the train off about a quarter mile west of the crossing and then took the grain cars to the spur. They shoved the cars back with a GP15-1 and left the SD40-2 on the main. Only 4 axle locomotives run on the grain spur due to derailments that have happened in the past. I was there once when a locomotive derailed on the spur. The rail is 1920s rail and maybe 100 pounds per yard. It also has a couple of tight curves and close clearance at the main elevator. We see some switching and then I had to leave. The rest of the train headed towards the quarry not long after I left. This was filmed on a Tuesday and by Thursday the locomotives returned with more loaded rock cars. I saw the Thursday train stop for the night in Mt Orab on its westbound run.
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show that came from the video.
Filmed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

A beautiful weather day and Chessie is the photo scout she sure can sniff out a CCET train. It's always a treat to watch the Cincinnati Eastern peddle their cars up and down the line. Tonight marks the last night with the old staff of Wheel of Fortune but in a small town like this hearing the arrival of CCET is their Wheel of Fortune for transportation needs. Oh yes today is National Donut Day so enjoy one while watching the video
I spun the wheel one time when I was in Vegas. Thanks for watching and good morning Paul!
COOL! I think that’s the first time I’ve heard Norfie purring. She sure chose a good family when she adopted your family, Jaw Tooth. I remember when she first showed up at your place. Y’all are very blessed.
It's amazing how well she gets along with the dogs. They sleep by her also. Thanks for watching!
Howdy JT! Love the CCET days! Looks like the car says 'Hampton Co-Op Elevator Co, Hampton Nebraska' Thanks for sharing 🤠
Great catch today JawTooth!
Thanks and good morning!
Youza! Chessie's head in the foreground with the train made him look like Norfzilla...lol
Thanks for watching!
Goodmorning fellow railfans
Good morning to you too!
Good morning Johnny!
Wow! Excellent catching the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad, I like it, it's awesome, @JawTooth, thank you very much.
GM JT That train has some interesting looking engines. You're pretty chipper this morning in spite of lack of sleep.😅Manual switching. Haven't seen that in years. Is that safer than the new systems? Or just not upgraded? HAGD.
Thank you very much!
All of the switches on this line were downgraded to manual. Norfolk Southern did that when they down graded the line to only one train a week. That has been close to 2 decades ago. I remember them doing that before I had this channel
It's nice to see the boss came with you today to keep you out of trouble, JT! The train was good, too
😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
I really like the way many short line railroads keep their locomotives clean and sharp looking.
Same here!
Brian for being tired you and Jesse sure did a great job on this video CCET is a awesome short line thanks for this one
That's awesome that Chessie is a railfan too Brian.
Thanks for watching Alan!
JawTooth
And a shout to Mrs JawTooth
Great video
As always
Yes! Thank you!
Good morning Brian and company.. I'm wishing everyone has a wonderful weekend..
Good morning!
I love the locals. Always a fun video. Have a good weekend JT. Hi Chessie railfan girl! Hi Norfie! ❤
Thanks for watching!
Great train, bad road
Thanks for watching!
Chessie’s snout is cute! CCET engines look like they were hot-waxed. I get worried on days you don’t post that you aren’t feeling well, so feel better. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Thanks for watching! I post long videos about 5 a week sometimes more
Jessie likes trains!
Thanks for watching!
Hi JT HI Chessie, lovely crossings you filmed from & the awesome CET locos. They look & sound good, Chessie enjoys watching them as well! Beautiful video really enjoyed it have a great weekend JT & family & the pets too. ❤😊🐕👍
Thanks, you too! Have a great weekend. We have soccer games in Indiana this weekend for a tournament
@@JawTooth awesome! I like what I've seen of Indiana JT. Hope the girls win! 💔👍
*Boy those CE locomotives have the absolute best sounds...horn, real bell and the prime mover!*
I agree!
Sardinia Cincinnati rail road.. awesome 😎
Thanks for watching!
Salute to the flag & memorial!🇺🇸 Thank you Lester E Scott
Thanks for watching!
Excellent Video jawtooth!
Thank you very much!
Instead of the one car rule you had the one dog rule . LOL
I get a lot of that also. I had a dog barking at me in Troy Ohio the last time I was there
Thank you for the shout out. !! And the birthday wishes. That truly made my day.
Nothing like watching trains and Jessie nose in the same vidieo lol 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for watching!
Thanks, Jawtooth, awesome video of CER in operation. Love watching the Shortlines operate. Peaceful rest my friend.
Live action Time, Lets go. The covered Hopper says "Hampton Coop Elevator Co. Hampton Nebraska.
Thanks for watching!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 😸👍🙏
Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth You're welcome. Have a great day!
There's always something interesting on the Cincinnati Eastern!
Man your cat a loud purrer🐺🐺
Great catch of the Cinci trains. And Chessie is such a good dog, and a good railfan too! They say it is therapeutic to humans when cats purr
Thanks for watching!
Good morning. Enjoy your video
Thanks for watching!
Wish I could pet your cat. All day long, she would love it. Awesome video. Have a nice day 😊🌈
She is nice cat. Thanks for watching!
Nice video JT thanks keep up the good work and have a great day from Scotland 😊
Thanks, will do!
@@JawTooth 😊👍
Hi Jaw Tooth! Always like seeing these Cincinnati Eastern videos. Man that old Pillsbury covered hopper is a grungy rust bucket!! Many of them looked grungy and beat up.
Have a great weekend!
Always enjoyable videos 😊 !
Glad you like them!
Thank you for this video of the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad heading east from Sardinia, Ohio to Winchester, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! You caught some good views of the train as it traveled between these two towns. I enjoyed watching the switching move at Winchester, Ohio as the empty covered grain hopper cars on tot the siding for the grain elevator in Winchester, Ohio. I thought that the crew would have left the SD40-2 on the mainline to the east of the railroad crossing but the crew dropped the SD40-2 just inside the siding. It was nice to see that faded Pillsbury covered grain hoper car. That car has to be over forty years old.
Another classic catch. Pillsbury Do Boy office car. Lol
Thanks for watching!
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
Good morning William!
I am one day late on this one but still a great catch
Thanks jawtooth
JT, what a great video
Luv the CE trains and the switching.
Chessie did a great job too
One incredible train. when the Purina plant opens CCET will be busy.
Slow train day.. Slow speed that is. lol
I tried to catch this train yesterday returning westbound. I got way up in front of them and then found out that they stopped for the day in Mt Orab. This railroad is very difficult to chase. It's getting difficult to find them because the entire line is a tree tunnel. I will trade you railroads lol
I enjoyed that video👍👍
Great catches and awesome video
Thanks Lashenda!
Hello Mr. Tooth. I want to tell you that your videos are the first I watch in the mornings. I do enjoy them. Since you mention birthdays, I thought I’d try to see or hear my name mentioned. I am Dr. James Askea. Pronounced: ask-kay. I’ll be slamming into 69. June 16. I love your pets. I’m an animal lover. See you in tomorrow’s video.
I live not too far from Amish country in Northeast Ohio, so I have a lot of experience with them. Off-topic, I saw the obit for Carl Jensen in Classic Trains magazine. I know not too long ago you mentioned his passing in a video.
Hey Jaw Tooth, another great video. Thanks for all you do.
Happy Birthday James
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video, JT! It was cool 😎 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Looks like the Winchester elevator has its' own trackmobile for in house switching, cool. Another keeper JT, thanks much!
Unless they've changed it recently, they have an ex-Seaboard EMD SW9. Painted all-over black, number 162.
They still have their little black switcher. They bought it when the line reopened. They used to lease it. It’s in a bunch of my older videos
@@beeble2003 I was looking at a fuzzy picture on Google maps. An SW would be even better!
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
thanks Andre!
That's the biggest train in your area so far this year asome catch sun🚂🚃🚃
That was a good one. It came back through in the other direction last night and stopped for the night in Mt Orab.
Yay! Another great video from JawTooth. I really enjoyed this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love those homes where they were switching grain cars, very pretty area! I'm jealous of the green grass! Everything is brown here, our dry season. Our rainy season starts soon though. Great video Brian, thank you! Stay well and roll on
I like that house with the porch just feet from the tracks. I was scrolling through and found this. Thanks for the gas money Mark! I really appreciate your support! We rarely have a dry season here. Our average is about 46 inches annual precipitation
Awesome video, Jaw Tooth. Have a great weekend, my Friend.
Never seen the CER specially up here in N E Ohio. Great video JT😊
Thanks for watching!
Those units have the old Southern Railway horns.
Those short lines are fabulous.
And FYI: when the Train is going slow is when it's working hard.
All the traction motors are turning.
When the Train is going fast like on the main lines.
Only the last traction motor is turning.
The other 5 come on as they slow down.
The big engine will only have 2-4 " power Packs" working, the rest are in a lube idle mode.
That's how they get 30 mpg.
On all the GE and EMD units
Nice job on watching those trains, jaw tooth keep it up and be safe while railfanning out there please
Poor Norfie's going to get dizzy. 😊😊
Cool train video you shot Jawtooth. 👍❤️
I could watch these CE videos all day but I have some honeydo things to take care of
Nice Video
Excellent Video JawTooth really enjoyed watching your video keep up the fantastic work love watching your videos every day thanks for sharing and have a awesome weekend
Thanks! Will do!
Nice catches and switching action JT! Great video!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯🇺🇸👍
Thank you very much!
Great to see the switching.
Glad you like it!
😅thanks for the rangeer video.have a nice weekend with mutch sun.greetz:🍐Peer.😅👍👍👍👍
Thanks, you too!
Hey jaw tooth glad you caught train. Sorry didn't get much sleep. I'd do the same if I heard train and just tell asleep. Get back up go watch them. Hope you went to sleep after watching train. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
If the 1980 built car was an automobile, it would almost be considered an antique in many states!
Excellent video JawTooth my dad is a huge fan of you and he wears Hawaiian shirts just like you and he also now where you live
Awesome and thanks for watching my videos! Live Action!
@@JawToothyep no problem make more videos to continue your journey and this amazing weather
Wow, live-action on the Cincinnati Eastern! Also the grain car at 15:08 reads on the top "Hampton Co-op Elevator" and on the bottom "Hampton, Nebraska", just so you know.
Thanks for the info and for watching!
Awesome video again.
Enjoyed the video. It looks like that line us starting to get some growth on it
Thanks for watching!
Amazing!
Thanks!
@@JawTooth Hi Brian 🤝🙂 You're welcome!
Hey Brian. Heavy you ever filmed the grain silos in Chillicothe? That grain Co has a beautiful red engine. CSX or NS drops cars off. Big yard for cars. Thanks again for sharing your videos with us. God bless you and your family
No, I haven't. I might do that though. I haven't seen the engine in use when I was there but I will give it a try next time
@@JawTooth I've only seen it once.
@@JawTooth That would be cool. Maybe you can give them a call and find out when they're operating?
Love The CE!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Special thanks for the Shoestring pic!
You bet!
Nice one
18:50 Pillsbury, now there is a blast from the past
I love this video 🤩
Can’t wait til Purina goes online.
Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth everytime buddy.
I know you wanted to jump into that 6 axel engine 🚂 and have a quick ride forward a 1/4 mile toot the horn a few times 🔊🔔 and then back again to the same spot while the driver and conductor were taking the cars into the spur 😂🚂
That would have been fun but they might have noticed lol
Yea you got your co-pilot Chessie today....
Chessie doggie gets an "earflap-full" of CCET 3512's beautiful P3 horn @0:30!!! A couple of rare "Fallen Flag" covered hoppers come to CCET...Pillsbury @13:05, and Hampton Co-Op Elevator Company (Hampton, NE) @14:46. 💓💓to a purring Norfie!!!
Thanks JT take care, get some rest. ❤ 🥰
Thank you, I will and thanks for your support! I really appreciate it and it goes a long way to put gas in the tank. Thanks again Carol!
I forgot to mention JT, In Indiana, Clymers, Logansport area the Triple Crown is on its final month of running it will be no more after that. I Know you like filming that train.
I wonder if I still have time to get it. I sure would like to get that train one more time. I'm going to try to find out if I still have time to get it .
@@JawTooth I'm not sure but I heard it was last running until the first week of July, Spike will know @railroadtiespiker. He films it all the time. You could msg him JT.
Hamilton Nebraska elevators ? very hard to see! great find on the rails! keep chasing those trains!
Hampton. There are still a few of those old co-op hoppers rolling around the network.
Thanks, will do!
Good morning
Morning
JT I don’t know why they don’t turn that second locomotive around so they’ll have a cab on each end and don’t have to run back long hood forward that just don’t make sense to me. You know they got a wye at one of those yards that they could turn that engine around but anyway another great video my friend you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
They don't turn it because they don't have anywhere to do that. The wye at Sardinia isn't usable any more.
Love the horn on Cincinnati
Thanks for watching!
Nice
Thanks
well i did notice something the seat covers in your truck and the shirt you were wearing almost matched .
Good morning Brian, I hope you have a safe and blessed weekend. Are you and Scott going anywhere special this weekend to film trains? If so be safe out there 🙏🏻
Morning!
Thank you Brian love seeing the switching….. seeing your pets makes my day too… quick question i live about 45 minutes from the biggest rail yard in New England if I took some pictures world I be allowed to pay them in a comment?
Not sure. I have never heard of that
I think there was a big tornado thru Winchester a few days ago.
Hey Jawtooth, love the videos. I watch with an elderly neighbor, He introduced me to your channel here in Canada. I was hoping maybe you could give a shout out to him in a video. It would make his day. "Joe from Ontario Canada" cheers, and keep makin videos son lol
Another June birthday! ✔✔
Is it your birthday this month? Happy birthday if so and it was nice meeting you at Cass! That was a pretty good day
@@JawTooth Yes, I met you on my birthday!
Be glad you’re not in New York, aside from the taxes, Chessie would have to be secured. She would hate that.
I assume the vehicle traffic wasn't a problem (no one beeping at you) to park back so far from the crossing.
Nobody was behind me. There isn't much traffic here. You have to get on the nearby highway 32 for traffic
@@JawTooth 👍🏼 So much many people have no patience for anything anymore. Stay safe!
Wish they would get an SD 70 ,80 or SD90MAÇ
They might someday after Purina opens
Hi chessie
