I am 75+ and a potter just over 3 years.I have been in a gallery. I may be old but I could watch your creations all day. You are my favorite potter out there. Thank you. John in Anderson, Indiana.
It must be such a wonderful experience watching something so beautiful appear before your eyes and knowing that you have complete control on how you want it to turn out. I love this art.
It is so sad to see that this man is there in youtube for more than 1 year but he even did not completed 500k subscribers. However, I have subscribed him. Thank you ingleton pottery for wonderful things to make and record it and entertain us.
Its really amazing how they can do that when they get started it looks like a big glob of nothing but when they get done its looks really cool thumbs up for this vid!
when i was 15yrs old, i tried committing suicide. i took 20 pills. i was so close to death. my whole body swelled up. i got bumps all over my body. my throat was startin to close up and i could barely even breathe. i knew i was seconds away from death. i was gasping for air. i got scared and regretted it right away. i wished ive never done it. for the first time in my life, i cried out to God and told him i dont wanna die. i jus need help. plz help me. plz help me. i wept. within seconds, i felt this warmth, love and peace surround me. i knew for a fact it was God. within seconds, he healed my whole body. i could breathe. swelling was gone. he instantly delivered me from suicidal thoughts and depression after strugglin with it for 6yrs. psychiatrists and psychologists and takin their medicine never helped. the only thing that WORKED was when i cried out to God and asked him for help. he instantly saved me and delivered me and performed miracles on me. he gave me a new outlook on life. for once in my life i actually wanted to live and not die. that was something odd for me cuz for 6yrs i wanted to die so bad. my mom had cancer and shes the reason why i tried taking my life cuz i didnt wanna lose her. i lost her at 16yrs old and lost my dad at 17yrs old. i didnt kno Jesus until i was 24 n a half yrs old. im 25 now n my relationship with Jesus is so strong. hes helped me change into a whole diff person. ppl actually see the miraculous change in me. if it wasnt for Jesus, id be dead right now. Wow.... because of the many crazy teapot pinners in Pinterest, I now love watching videos like this.. a delight to watch.. and even I created mini teapots using airdry clay just to have my own collection.. hmmm Clay pottery is an impossible dream for me... They're so beautiful...
some people were concerning about how he used a lot of water or wondering if its necessary its not necessary to use this much water, but its not bad either, hes very skillful so that makes it easier n faster for him (more would make it floppy n weak but not this much) its does not make the pot weak because he wiped away the water n he would leave it out to dry for at least a day before putting it in the kiln, the end result would be a strong tea pot as any others

Um... it would take more then a day for drying.... you can't dry too fast or it will Crack. Depending on what clay he used and how thick the pot is determines how long the drying process takes. It must be completely dry in order for it to be in the kiln. Depending in the thickness it can take up to two days or more.
"Talent is a pursued interest. Anything you're willing to practice, you can do." -Bob Ross. That's not just talent, that's skill garnered from years upon years of hard work. It's definitely something to envy. He's an incredibly skilled potter and I'm jealous as hell.
My old advanced art teacher used to make pottery in class as we did our own type of projects and he would sell them in order to fund art students to go on a France field trip! Pretty cool, and now I want to go back and buy a cup!!!!
the actual experience of making it is just as relaxing! learn some wheel-throwing pottery, it is a great way to de-stress and make beautiful and functional things!
Hello Folks. Believe me, a spout shaped like this pours perfectly. In fact it has an inbuilt anti-dribble mechanism in it's design. If you look at the end of the spout the flute actually makes it impossible for any liquid to dribble back down the outside as it would have to run up hill to do so,unlike a straight spout.. My Dad's been making and selling similar for getting on for 40 years now so don't worry. It pours perfectly....and it won't dribble. Thanks,Dan.
I accidentally got to this video and I'm going to looking into getting started with this stuff. How relaxing just to watch! Imagine doing it?!! Don't look like rocket science but it dose look very fun. I'm sure it's not as easy as it looks. But it's do-able!
Thank for sharing. It's a beautiful work, I'm a pottery beginner and your way to work with it is amazing. I'm glad to have found you here at YT. Congrats
Most of the time I find silent things boring if they don't have any music or anything, but this was relaxing. As I was watching this I was thinking as to how he knew the exact measurements and everything.I don't know much about pottery but I would like to try it out.
Wonderful, you do great work! I wish I had a setup, working with clay is fun. As a child I found a spot on the property, we would dig up red clay from the side of the mountain after they were done logging, we would just make figurines for the most part, We didn't have a turning wheel. It was a dark red, and it dried hard, we even made drawings on the sides of the areas, kind of wonder if they are still there.
+hydrus77 If you still have access to the clay, you can process it and use it for hand-building. There are videos here about how to process your own dug up clay. You'll still need a get a kiln, but you can get them for not all that much, especially if you luck into a used kiln in decent condition.
Day 463 ...Still trapped in clay videos on UA-cam all thanks to that suggestion that I check out this one clay guy...this must've been the plan all along, seeing as there would be no other reason why that video would have been suggested to me... Anyways, I'm enjoying it too much.. If I never return, somebody please tell my family the tale of my demise and delete my browser history. Sincerely, I'm trapped in pots.
Not to discourage pottery classes, cuz making art is amazing, but I work at teavana and we sell cast iron japanese tea sets (like, from japan). Expensive, but I love mine!! I'm about to take a wheelthrowing class & it's my goal to make a teapot by the end of it
Thanks for the video. I have a question: Is the shape of the spout in this teapot adequate for a smooth pour? I mean no offense, I've just been having a very hard time finding spout shapes that are both attractive, and will pour nicely.
I find that if you throw one like him but then cut it at an angle instead of straight and instead of fluting the top it you just pull it upward, it looks good. When I threw my teapot I absolutely loved the way it came out. The spout makes it or breaks it.
Also, for a more smooth pour, instead of making one large hole (where all the liquid will come out super fast) make a series of small holes. Maybe in a dice formation and the put the spout over it.
Have you ever got to the final part of sticking the handle on and pushed too hard, deforming the pot or putting a hole through it all together? If so How frustrated were you? Lol
+cds hdfdjsh You get a better join if the clay is still wettish. Still, whenever I tried something like this, I never had the confidence to attach pieces so simply. I was so afraid my piece would fall apart, I went for serious overkill.
+cds hdfdjsh it cant harden too much because then the handle wont stick to it. both pieces of clay still has to be somewhat wet to stick together. if they are to dry, it wont work :)
but if, after you burnt the pieces, and then they fall apart or the entire thing breaks, then you could always use attica (vinegar) as glue. the tiniest little bubble of air inside the clay can make the entire thing break when burning it in the oven.
also because you need to get all of the air bubbles out of the clay, that's why he also did it for the handle on the table; air bubble = clay exploding in the oven. I've made that mistake XD
beside the fact that the gallery for the lid to sit on is pretty big (making it easier to get it right) this guy has probably done it a thousand times, so he knows how to do it
Very beautiful artistic creation, thank you for this excellent sharing. Obviously thumbs up for the great artist you are ! I wish you the best. Jean-luc.

Lovely craftsmanship! I started off watching your gardening videos and now I see your beautiful pottery! Such talent! I am in awe!
I stumbled upon these clay throwing videos and now I can't escape.

I admire the spout geometry that won't dribble down the pot. In exterior trim on houses I call a similar detail a drip off. I Love watching your work.
That's really cool to watch. Next month I'm starting a pottery class at the local college. It will be fun.
I have watched so many of these videos only because I think it is satisfying when the clay moves
So relaxing. Stress of whole day just vanished in 11.39 minutes. Jaw dropping art... kudos

Ah, well, what can you do? There's no such thing as a dripless spout.

Watching potters at the wheel is so SATISFYING.
Have you ever got to the final part of sticking the handle on and pushed too hard, deforming the pot or putting a hole through it all together?

extremely pissed and then I started it over
+raspberryice well cant he just let the pot harden and then stick the handle

That's cool as hell and I'm not in to pottery nice video
anyone else think this is oddly soothing to watch a pot made...hahaha
How did you know the size of the lid?
Very amazing and relax work.
probs coz he used his hands he can guess the size by feel. that my guess :)
A lot of time the base or bats they throw the clay have sleight ridges telling roughly the diameter that or he used a caliper
he can also shave off the sides if he needs to
Kusunoky its not the first tea pot that he made,
He might of checked for fitment before trimming. Then just estimated
I loved your videos of pottery and I subscribed. Keep up the good work. Julia
This is so relaxing would love to make it a hobby
You Sir, inspire me. I'm thinking of learning this. Beautiful work!
This is really relaxing to watch but I know next to nothing about pottery, so why do you need to throw the clay?
aa7727 Okay, so it's supposed to make it kind of "stick" to the wheel?
also because you need to get all of the air bubbles out of the clay, that's why he also did it for the handle on the table; air bubble = clay exploding in the oven. I've made that mistake XD
If you work in clay you would understand. Throwing for me is like breathing.
Parsnip Wishes air bubbles don't make your work blow up only moisture can do that. Air bubbles can expand and give you a bloating look tho.
So sophisticated work....welldone...so...beautifull...i just love it...😍😍😍💕💕💕❤❤
Well that must be fun :D I wanna paint it :D
That was amazing i cant wait to try that i want to make more tea pots and tea cups an put my own design on them so cool and inspiring loved that.

Mam your state
5:56 is when the party starts, He's really getting into that
If this guy had a big enough hunk of clay he could make a complete working merry go round with all the decorated moving horses!!
who else found this amazingness because they were taking a ceramics course? :D
I bought a wheel n am currently taking a comm Ed class- simply fascinating!!!
Do you burn this or just let it dry
We usually let it dry first and then fire it in a kiln (oven). I think the clay cracks in the oven if it's too wet.
TheKaiupono I'm new to this so I don't know much but if the burning isn't for drying, then what is the purpose in burning?
ceteris paribus Burning it in a kiln hardens the clay further so that it's easier to handle, especially before glazing.
Very beautiful artistic creation, thank you for this excellent sharing.
Obviously thumbs up for the great artist you are !
I wish you the best.

Oddly satisfying

There is something so very satisfying about this...
can you paint it and can you hold it from the handle?
"can you hold it on the handle?"
if you can't hold it why put it in the sculpture?
You can but not when it is in that stage. Have it fired first

Excellent work. Although it looks a bit more like a watering can than a teapot to me, but that could just be that it's made a clay, and isn't as shiny as most teapot.
