As a German, I have struggled to understand why there was hesitation. I frankly see an 80+ year gap in history and countless reasons why sending tanks is the very act of defiance against fascism brought unto the European continent once again, this time by Russia.
To me, it would be beyond reprehensible not to send tanks to protect democracy from authoritarian dictatorships.

You have struggled, and will continue to struggle through life, because you cannot think.
You are supplying weapons to a dictator, that doesn't like democracy. On his trip to the US in front of congress , said there will be no negotiation, therefore has no interest to stop the killing of his people, or to find an agreement
These weapons are supplied against a country that has nuclear weapons.

The alliance, despite what many would claim is bending over backwards to aid Ukraine without making imperial demands on its sovereignty.

She crushed it. His interruptions, and pause, were just antagonistic for the purpose of being that. The role of NATO here is similar to the US in WWII prior to attack from JAP and declaration of war from GER in unity. The US was supplying resources to the UK who were under attack, the US was not at war at that point.
Also he said nearing one year of this war... it started in 2014. This surge started last Feb, but taking Crimea and supporting puppets in Luhansk and Donetsk stems from the 2014 RUS-UKR war. Remember the Green Men, and the confusion of are they RUS or just Russian mercenaries... b/c they were definitely Russian and taking actions that RUS would like to see?

@@orikane1 - "Some topics are also probably off limits since the war is active so you wouldn't want to give Russia any hints as to strategy and internal NATO issues. "
That's a central issue which I wish more of the public and the representatives of the media understood (they of course need to do their job, though). One such topic is the length of the war. The fastest possible end to the war isn't necessarily what's in the best interest of Ukraine. What Ukraine needs is to win this war, get all of it's legally owned and recognized area back, have Russia leave the war in a state that prevents it from projecting power to Ukraine (or any of its neighbours) for the longest possible time, and achieve all that with minimal amount of deaths of Ukrainian people. That's a complicated equation to solve, but I think it's pretty certain that the solution producing that result wouldn't be getting Russia to withdraw from Ukraine within a couple of months, for example.
The quicker Russia is able admit it's defeat, the sooner it will be back. Luckily Vladimir Putin probably feels he can't admit defeat, so he must continue to let the Russian army be ground down, and Russian economy and society being made weaker and weaker by the consequences of the sanctions. I wish people would stop arguing "every day this war continues costs Ukrainian lives, so every step we refuse to take to shorten this war is a wrong decision", and think about the things I mentioned above. In this war "victory" is more complicated than just getting Russians out of Ukraine as fast as possible.

As an American I think we need to have a significant amount of patience with our Deutsch allies, Deutschland is in a vulnerable state right now.
•Deutschland's energy infastructure was critically dependant on the Russian Federation.
Their ability to sustain energy infastructure
    - I.E their economy - will be dependent now upon how quickly they can adapt a new infrastructural program.
•The Deutsche military is in a state of disrepair, underfunding, under trained & under supplied. Whenever Deutschland gives these resources to the Ukraine they are weakening themselves significantly because they have limited resources at the moment to begin with.
They were not prepared for a major cold war with the R.F as they had tried to create economic links with them in order to ensure stability in that relationship. Something that's gone completely out the window. In trying to do the right thing at that given time frame, they have put themselves into the worst strategic position that region has been in since the turning of the Eastern front. If they need time to decide what they can & cannot afford to do, we need to listen to that. The Pols have poltical bias's against Deutschland (which isn't unwarranted to be fair) and will push for Deutschland to do more regardless if the Deutsche people can actually afford it. But the Ukrainians are not our only allies and we need to remember that. If Ukraine falls- Deutschland will need to be in a far stronger position than it currently is.
    • The Deutsch Right Wing recently tried to instigate a major coup, but this is just the first wave of these kinds of hyper national civil unrest. The Deutsch people are particularly vunrable to Nationalist rhetoric when they are geopoltically vunrable. Pushing Deutschland too hard could potentially push the population in that direction which is the last thing we need right now.
Honestly What we need to do is help Deutschland set up new infastructure and help them reform their military as quickly as possible. We need them to put their own oxygen mask on before they can help the Ukrainian people put theirs on.

The host of this usually good show did very little preparation, and allowed the guest to simply repeat public relations, platitudes after platitudes after platitudes. The real question is when and if and under what circumstances would NATO send troops to stop Russia from eliminating Ukraine from the map. The questions unfortunately did not put the guest in a position to have to go off script, a wasted opportunity.

    There's a joke in Ukraine:
    - Have you heard that Russia is fighting NATO?
    - No, how is it going?
    - Well, Russians have 100.000 casualties, they've lost major battleships, thousands of tanks and are now conscripting criminals directly from jails.
    - And what about NATO?
    - Well, they didn't show up yet...

@TheGesox Yes, and from a much smaller country. The casualties are catastrophic. NATO, with the US at the wheel, is a disgrace. This is nothing less than a proxy war, which many clear thinkers and speakers have acknowledged. The US is trying to take out Russia at minimum cost to itself, while ordinary Ukrainians and Russians pay with their lives, ordinary Europeans are driven into penury, while US arms manufacturers and fossil fuel companies are enjoying bonanza profits.

But not from the US. Ukraine has to pay for this and this money comes from the EU. The US has already called for the EU to set up a facility for transferring money between Ukraine and the EU on a monthly basis.
The EU is financing the US infrastructure/anti inflation package over Ukraine. Some really corrupt bs going on here!

Great interview ... I was particularly heartened to hear her last comments regarding negotiations in that the decision lies with Ukraine ... Surely there can be no negotiation with an invading army occupying your territory .. I was concerned that NATO would try and push Ukraine prematurely to the negotiating table ... Lets hope NATO they keep to their word
