And with alone I really mean shutting down and not spending time with anyone in their social circle for several months. Have you ever dated a girl with Asperger syndrome or avoidant attachment style? Such individuals are not pursuing contact for the most time and do break up because they feel smothered or have a childhood trauma were too much intimacy is associated with losing control over oneself. Such people do not break up because they crave someone else. They just want to be alone again where they can feel save and not vulnerable. So one cannot generalize from just personal experiences to an overall rule where women break up just because of another guy. Life is more complicated and has many more aspects. Yeah! Many times during the relationship I even wished it was me who left but I didn't have the guts.
