@@TheElementWildhis helped me out alot watched this a couple of times I couldn't pull my bow all the way back but I kept at it shooting my target and now I do it no problem
I have my father's bear the truth as my first bow
Thanks again
These basic beginner videos are really helpful to those of us city boys who want to get into bow hunting whose parents didn't/couldn't teach us about this stuff. hard to find someone to show you when none of your friends or family shoot
Same! I grew up mostly in the suburbs but am originally from the backwoods of Virginia. The redneck mindset stayed with me though. I only have one friend that shoots bows for hunting. Wish my parents wouldve gotten me into hunting as a kid but at 30, its better now than never! Especially since I wanna live off the game that I hunt.
I’m just beginning to hunt after 50+ years. I’ve seen several videos and this one has been the most helpful for me. Nice job and keep up the good work!
Thank you so much Troy! I hope you have a great first SZN! We’ll have more videos to help the newer hunter soon. Please subscribe if you haven’t. So happy you’re getting into hunting!
Games and the giant
This is actually the most basic “beginner” video I could ask for and I needed this. Just bought a use compound off a work buddy because I’ve been wanting to learn how to shoot for a while now, but don’t know where to start. I appreciate this vid.
Now if someone could just show me how to use a peep site correctly! 😅
Same. Got mine at the pawn shop and ordered my daughter one for lil kids.
My first bow was a Bear Authority. $350 ready to hunt package from Gander Mountain back in 2015. New bows don’t HAVE to be expensive.
Randomly came across the opportunity to buy one from a military buddy and, well, I guess I’m going hog hunting in the near future. Thanks for the tips, I’ll be watching a lot more
The one thing new shooters might have seen that you didn't touch on was the site level. I shot forever without one until I was picked as a store shooter for Phillips archery in Nashville(RIP Harold Phillips). It took me from an average shooter and made me a pretty good shooter. I always shot the hunter class because I didn't have a lot of money to spend on the equipment needed to be good at open class.
Great video! I’ve hunted with rifles mostly and been doing research on bows as well as proper form and technique basics to help get me started! Thanks so much and keep it up!
Trying to find my way into shooting compound bows and this video was very instructive for a novice, though of age.
I now know what to look for, including the accesories.
On a personal note: you have a very entertaing way of showing what it’s all about.
Real fun to watch and a great help. It got me exited to take the next step.
Just bought my first bow. Thanks for the vid. I've rifle hunted for years and going to be giving bow hunting a try. Let's go!
Thank you for creating this video. I am new to archery and I appreciate how you covered the basics in a simple, straightforward manner. Very helpful.
This is one of the best videos I've seen about how to shoot and all the parts of a bow! You answered a lot of questions i had. Thank you!
I have been hunting for a long time but love the way you presented this. Awesome video, glad I watched!!
Great video. Just got my first bow/ ready to hunt compound. Not too expensive. A month ago. Jerry at the pro shop got me set up and tuned up and with his expert help showing me proper form had me hitting a 2x2 target at 20 yards in about an hour. Now it's all about doing the proper form every single time. Your video is pretty much spot on of what I've been/ being thought.
I was having trouble with the sights. Thankyou for explaining how to aim! 🤙🤙
I'm just starting out and this was really an outstanding intro video! The perfect combination of detail, easy to follow pacing, clearly explained demonstration, reassurance for beginners who might lack confidence, and enthusiasm! Really well done!
I REALLY LOVED THIS VIDEO! I’ve been wanting to get into archery and this video was the missing ingredient! Thank you! 🤛🏼
I love this video sooo sooo soooo helpfull
Especially the aiming never knew about the housing and peep lining up
Just got my first compound bow at a reputable shop. Thank you for this video! I learned a lot and you have a good personality for teaching! Subscribed!
Brand new to archery. Although i have shot a compound bow a couple times years ago. Your video structure and ability to deliver the right information in a timely manner was very good sir! Thank you!
Absolutely! If we didn't answer all your questions, fire away! Thanks for watching!
Is it hard to use a compound without one of those, what's it called? Asking cause I've never tried one before.
However, I'm thinking of getting a recurve.
@@PS4Pat Depends on what you want to do. The Element folks are better equipped to answer that question; but in my opinion, if you want an efficient way to hunt - you should probably use a rifle. If you want an efficient way to hunt but with an increased challenge and a quieter weapon - use a compound bow. If you want to really challenge yourself and not have much hunting success until you get very very good - use a recurve. The trigger releases on compound bows are great and easy to use. Its ten times easier to use than only fingers in my opinion. If you have great calluses and great hand strength it may not matter. But the trigger, plus the cam action of a compound bow make it so you can hold a shot for a long time with less effort which leads to much greater accuracy. A recurve constantly increases in poundage as you pull it back and gives no relief until you release the shot. Its simply harder to use a recurve than a compound. It might be more fun for you to get a compound until you get more into it. The cheap compound i bought is a Diamond and I love shooting it.
This year will be the first I go out for archery. Went out and put a down payment on a Mission Mathew’s bow and man oh man I’m hype for it. The past couple days I’ve been just watching videos on tips for beginners. Can’t wait to see what this season brings :)). This video was super helpful!
Thank you for taking time of your day to help us out with these great tips! 🤙
I just started archery target shooting, love the step by step explanation, I have better understanding how to get better, thank you Awesome video!
Outstanding video! Just retired and always wanted to get into this. This was perfectly on my level. Thank you
Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words!
Great video man. Just getting into bow hunting and this help tremendously. Thanks for sharing.
Commenting a few years later but this really helped me out, my ex taught me but haven't picked up my bow (or my guitar either for that matter) for a few years, I really needed this lesson although I am not a hunter, just love shooting bow. Thanks so much!
I brought my first bow February this year and it’s an Anglo arms compound bow and I watched a few videos of how to shoot a compound then I came across this video and got the hang of it in little time it’s a good video and explained it so well good work 👍
Just got myself a PSE Drive NXT I’m hooked on archery such an amazing art!
Thanks man for posting this. Great video, super helpful👊🏽👊🏽
Thank you for this. Getting ready to make the purchase as a beginner and this video was very helpful. 👊🏽
Very nice presentation! I am looking at this hunting option, but don't want to spend a lot, so you were really speaking to me!
Thank You for keeping it simple. Sometimes, less is more. 👍👍
Yessir!!! Thanks for watching!
perfect , simple , easy to understand. great in my opinion. thank you.
As a beginner, this is so helpful! Thank you!
Cool video for beginners. Thanks man!
Great video for any beginner, or for someone like me who hasn't shot a bow in years. Technology has changed a lot since I've shot.
Immediately smash the like button when you mention safety ! Very nice video! Lov it!
Great video, as a new guy to the sport this answered a lot of the basic questions that I didn't really even know how to ask.
Thanks Chris!
I liked this a lot after watching some other videos that left me not really fully understanding what they were trying to teach. Great job!
Thank you Tim!
Fantastic video and so clarifying for beginners. Thank you so much!
I'm looking at getting into bow hunting - this was very informative. One thing that would help a beginner like me is demonstrating how to position feet, legs and body when shooting.
Thanks! The last vid on our channel explains this some.
Well articulated…excellent video, you helped me so much with my interest in knowledge of bow hunting
Great video. I've been shooting before but it's been a while so I thought I'd touch up. Really well explained, good audio/easy to hear, amazing marksmanship and stance. Very knowledgably done
Thanks for the nice words!
Great video! I just got my first compound bow and Im so stoked to get really good and then go out and hunt some game with it. Fill that freezer up with the best meat you can eat!!!
Also, you accent is awesome.
This was a great straight forward explanatory of everything I needed to know. Awesome.
Terrific dude! Hope you subscribed! What other help videos would you be interested in?
@@TheElementWild Well, I wonder how savy are you on custom bow strings? I'm trying to determine if I should or not replace mine, on my original strung 2007 Martin Magnum Bengal. I'm not a constant shooter. My bows spent more time in its case then in my hand. However, I've recently thought of doing Archery with my son, bought him a Mathews mission Menace. But I since, replaced my sight. Put my original sight on the Mathews, so I believe they need some setup tuning. My boe strings are looking good, But I wonder if its a rule of thumb, to replace strings due to age. My preference is for target shooting. Perhaps one day, turkey hunting.
Great intro video for beginners. I'm brand new and your explanation was excellent! Thanks for creating this video
I enjoyed your lessons here - Im new to archery so this was very helpful... Appreciate you sharing such knowledge - Thanks
You’re welcome! Hope you are enjoying archery!
This has my hyped up as I’m going to start archery, hopefully start hunting in about a year
Excellent advice thanks mate. Bought my first compound bow 2 days ago. Turns out,, i bought the wrong handed one... so,, I bought another one. Either way,, this advice helped me alot. As a farmer, if I can get away with shooting foxes and cats with a bow, it's way more fun and cheaper.
Superb video! I love the positivity combined with the educational information. 👌
💪🏽💪🏽
Never been hunting but im going to. I want to bow and rifle hunt and you sir are an excellent info source you got my sub!
Insightful clip .. pliz do a one clip on just alignment of the target in relation to the scope.
We will be very thankful 🙏
great instructions given in a straightforward and humorous way. I really liked your teaching style, constantly aware of information overload.
Thanks dude! Really appreciate the kind words. Hope you have a great 2021 SZN!
I have just began t o get back into it never shot compound before or release ! Found your video informative thank-you
God bless you sir, thank you for a great intro. Lots of tips, and overall great info. Thank you 🙏
omg i love the energy and the humor haha thanks for the tips!
also i've been wanting to bow hunt and this super helps and makes it way less overwhelming
Your video is the best by far. Very informative. I’m new to the sport. Still deciding on my first Bow. Cheers mate
Thanks dude! We shot some bows recently. The new Elite is pretty nice.
@@TheElementWild Have you ever tried Cruzer from Bear archery? I’ve seen Elite, abit over my budget. But the quality is brilliant.
Excellent presentation!!!
You had me riveted the whole time
I remember learning to shoot bows at Camp Carl, thanks counselors
Great video.. Im sending this video to my cousin whos just getting into bow hunting..
I'm just starting Bow hunting thank you sir for your help!!!
You’re welcome dude! Hope you have a great first SZN!
THIS is the kind of guy you listen to. Gets straight to the point.
Thank you Kage. That is a very great complement!
Outstanding instructions, brother!!
I’m about to go buy my first compound bow for hunting and your video’s have definitely helped. Thanks dude!
Thanks for the Video. It’s actually exactly what I was looking for!!!
Awesome dude, thanks! Hope you have a great SZN!
Making a trip to my local pro shop today to start my journey again.
i just got me the Bear archery Rant RTH bow i only shot it 3 times so far i cant wait to train with it and go hunting for the first time.
Great video man, very informative and helpful
Thanks!
11:38 I got fully equipped with my hunting bow, arrows, sights, release, tuning, broadheads, canvas bag, string wax, butt, targets - at one such backyard shops and they are pro's.
But that's because I know they know what they're doing.
Great Video, Thank you. One thing I think you left out was how the arrow is placed on the bow i.e the outside fletcher and the tab on the thumb side of the arrow? saw that elsewhere nut you video is so much better
I just play in the back yard with mine,a bear 50 lb,compound bow, lots fun. Getting better loosing a lot less arrows. Hay bales work best right now, learned some things I was doing wrong. Thanks.
You’re welcome! Hay bales are great targets because they are big lol. Glad you’re having fun with it!
Pick up a used or new horse stall mat. Around 55 new and cheaper used. They are 4x8 ft heavy rubber and will catch an arrow off a 70lb bow
Still love the look of a Mathew’s every time I see one.
Covid made me re think bow hunting. Thank you ammo shortage
Ain’t that the truth!
Just subbed. Love the content. Please more beginner tips.
@@BearArmsChannel Thank you! And yes, we have several vids in the chute for beginners!

Thank you. I’ve just got my first bow. Looking to get started and it’s tough to find good videos that are not selling stuff. Well explained and very helpful in a lot of ways. I’m trying to figure out if it’s normal to get your arm snapped by the bow string. Seems unlikely. My draw might be too long forcing me to over extend my arm so when I release, the string snaps my forearm. Which was surprisingly painful and unexpected.
This would be perfect for me to learn. Thanks for the information!
You’re welcome!
I'm new to archery but not new to hunting. I did the keep it cheap for now aspect, bought a 1990s Martin cougar speed flite, got 12 arrows cut, new level site, quiver, got 6 wasp sharpshooter broadheads, d loop installed and a stabilizer for under $400.
As far as shooting I've been applying what I know about long range shooting to this and I've been adapting quite quickly.
That’s awesome!!
Same here but with a martin carbon rev.
I'm just starting to hunt, and I'll say if you're looking for a great bow at a killer price, may I recommend the Mathews Tactic. They stopped making them in 2022, but you can still find new ones out there. 30.5 axle to axle, 40 to 70 lbs draw weight, and I believe from 23 inch draw to 31 inches. The performance is very close to the newer bows such as the Mathews phase 4. I love my Tactic.
Great video brother
Thanks for this content.
Finally. . . Someone who actually TEACHES you how to shoot a bow.
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 hit that subscribe button if you haven’t! Thanks!
Good video! A few years ago I purchased a used Hoyt Maxxis 31 for about $200…Incredible bow.
Great deal!
Thx you are helping me. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching, Luke!
Awesome video, that guy needs to start a yt channel. Great instruction. Thinking about doing this with my thirteen year old son. Just need to find a great shop like this.
Great video. i'm new to this and found your videos very helpful.
Thanks man!
Just got one for Christmas! Thank you for this video
Awesome! Hope you enjoy!
I was told thumb and pointer finger at 10 and 2 on your grip... then slightly touch front if riser. I shot with terrible form for years and never knew. It takes a while to break years of bad habits
Great video mate!
Thank you for this video
Ebay is a good place to look for used bows just have to look them up on line before buying to make sure its a good deal
Greetings from Poland💪🏻🏹
Very helpful video. Thanks 🏹💪🏻
This dude seems pretty cool and very informative! Thank you!
Thank you! I aim to inform!

Great video. Very informative.

Great video. I have been into archery for about 14 years.. onlything you forgot to mention that it will take over your life, lol.
Good video man, thanks.
Im thinking about getting into a new hobby, I love how compound bows look. I really appreciate this video. Im juss not sure in what begonner bow i should get. Any recomendations???
Best video I have seen .I like it alot.i am getting g back in to sport after 30 years.o yes I a dinosor.keep up what you are doing.like it
Thanks Matt! Good luck in your endeavor!
Most excellent advice! 👍💪🤙💖
cheers mate, thanks for that.
I’m brand new to archery and hunting all together. I’m very excited about getting in the stand this year. While practicing I accidentally squeezed the hook release trigger and shot an arrow into the woods behind the target. I can assure you, I’ve only made that mistake one time. It was a very good learning experience. I think that is something that should be stressed other than respect the equipment you’re using. I really appreciate this video.
That’s great Klarissa! I’m excited you’ve found our channel. I hope you have a great first SZN hunting with archery equipment!
That’s a very good point! And a great reason to always practice shooting in a safe direction, no matter how confident you are in the shot.
That's eye-brow raising..lol. I was pulling back the string and just before reaching my face, I accidentally touched the trigger and Bam, punched myself in the jaw and got knocked back, in two separateoccasions. . too funny.
@@MusicMinisterJP7 oh gosh. Lol. Luckily it was one time and I definitely have become very aware of where my trigger finger is at all times. I’m sure I’ll make more mistakes as I continue, but I did want to mention that it is a common mistake made very early on in the archery world. 😂
@@klarissabango2861 True, its all about getting used to the release. I recently purchased a Scott Shark release and girl is it Sensitive! Breathe on it and it will go off. I decreased the sensitivity some, but then finger needs to stay clear until ready to shoot. Best wishes..
