Bull Basin Archery in Flagstaff was this was. Super helpful, walking me through the process and giving me range time to see what product fits me best. Love it there.
Agreed! Most shops I’ve been to they were to busy to even give me some tips or pointers. I wanna get into bow hunting myself but I haven’t found anything I want to start with.
I'll be purchasing my first bow in the new year. This really helped me understand what ill be looking to get in a bow. The local Sportsman wear house has a really cool old timer that really does it because he loves Archery. Ill be working with him on different bows till I find my final purchase. Great video
I have never bow hunted but watching the THP guys has peaked my interest. The one thing holding me back is my lack of knowledge and experience. After watching this salesmen and seeing his patience has eased my apprehension. He seems outstanding!
I love sales people like that guy. Friendly, knowledgeable, and doesn't say things just because he wants you to know that he knows. I learned a lot just watching this.
A trick I was taught for my peep, close your eyes and draw. Get your natural anchor, nose on the string just like you’re about to shoot and then open your eyes. That’s where you’re going to be every time instead of moving your head to the peep. Make your adjustments from there.
Dude I feel the exact same way, every time I bought a bow I was rushed through the process and ended up doing all the adjustments myself at home with google open to answer my questions lol
These guys are top notch. I drove 2 hours to go to that shop specifically because the ones near me aren't very good. I can personally vouch for the process that Gooch went through. Definitely an awesome experience.
Being the only person in my family interested in hunting, I don’t have much guidance or help starting from scratch. But this channel has single handed helped me every step of the way. From learning about onX to scouting in the summer ext. thank you guys and keep up the good work! #beararchery
I'm in the same boat... I started last year much like Gooch in this video. something under $500 and try to figure it out on my own (ended up with a diamond archery edge 320 for lacking of knowing nothing else at the time). Hunting only public land and so on. All the things I've learned here are amazing. I was able to get a whitetail last year on a public piece of land ground stalking when all the people I know said it couldn't be done. I kept thinking, I've seen these guys take all kinds of nice whitetail down doing exactly what I'm trying to do. I was quite pleased to be successful and think I owe a lot of it to this channel. So excited to see this seasons episodes and learn more. Keep it up. (the obligatory #beararchery lol )
All salesmen should work like this guy, not just archery shops. He gave the customer options and was honest about where the extra money goes on the higher end stuff. Most people can tell when you're a fraud looking for the bigger commission anyway. Good job.
Honestly, as much as I refer new people to Dudley's vids when they're getting into the sport- this is one of the better examples what to expect on your first day in a pro-shop and what should be done before you exit. I was able to jump into a Mathews from the beginning with minimal pocket-pain, but #beararchery makes a great product for people who won't feel the difference between a $2k bow and a $350 bow that just want to get started in target archery or hunting. When I first saw it pop-up on my feed I figured it would be an experienced archer going into a pro-shop, but having a complete novice do it and the pro-shop explain actually gives this vid some tangible authenticity that someone who doesn't know jack about archery can learn from before they take on their first purchase.
I would go with the Diamond Infinite Edge Pro for a beginner. It is fully adjustable draw 13"-31" and weight 5-70lbs and cost less then $500 :) \o/.... I love mine and spring is here :))
Cool place! Ive went to 2 bow shops here local and they just expected me to know everything about everything and it deterred me from hunting with a bow the last couple years. I am a gun hunter usually and this has inspired me to find a decent shop and know im not the only one getting into the sport and that there are good folks out there willing to coach and mentor you.
Mark is the name of the salesman? Well that man is an absolute diamond. When you run a shop with a dude like that in it, you are setup for life! Professional, calm, knowledgeable and patient. I am just hoping I find a guy like that in the two shops I am going to visit. Never shot a bow and I am doing the backwards thing, buy a good bow and then learn how to use it, because we don't have a archery club nearby, I rely on ppl around. VERY good video, great presentation and content :)
Man, I'd love to have a bow shop like this. My experience was I picked shit off the wall and had no explanation no conversation and learned via youtube and watching slow motion draws of pro archers.
He is an amazing salesman and he works at a ProShop so he knows what he talking about and is we better than any corporate company such as bass pro he was completely honest. As an Archer I wish I would have had someone this helpful when I just started. I am now a competitive archer and have found people like this but it is super nice to have someone this helpful.
This salesman was awesome. No BS, no pressure and knew what he was talking about. Just the perf ect guy to buy a bow from! A+++ But dude shorten his draw length please!
Draw length probably isn’t as bad as your thinking. It’s probably more of that fact that those Tru-Fire patriots have way to long of a shank therefore he’s floating that hand past his ear.
The sale guy was amazing not once in the vid did I ever felt he was faking it to for the camera or jamming info into the client in order to squeezy every cent from the guy!!! it was really pleasant hearing him explain everything and helping to tune the bow and hopefully make the cx into a proper archer, Excellent video very educational
Had similar issue as a kid, till i met a family friend whom is an amish bow hunter he taught everything, tricks and tips, all i did was to bring him a few cases of locally brewed ginger ale soda (they were strong tasting) it helps to have friends that know tricks
This guy is amazing I love how he explains everything doesn’t feel like a sales guy feels more then a teacher as a beginner this is awesome not only u buying a bow but he also teaching u at the same time great guy you can tell he loves his job
This dude is the epitome of professional. NEVER have I been into a bow shop and had someone that nice, knowledgeable, helpful and patient on wait on me. Theyre always some snooty know-it-all who make you feel like you dont know shit, try to push the most expensive or latest and greatest even when Ive been shooting for 36 years and shoot 4 inch groups, OR its the flip side where they dont give you the time of day and act like youre not even there. Great job!
It’s honestly crazy how much yalls videos have helped me as a hunter. I went from being a novice deer hunter to now I have gotten to the point of being able to spot and stalk and have gotten 3 deer with a bow finally after years of no luck with it. You guys are awesome! Keep up the good work! #beararchery
same... from what ive experienced they usually dont know what theyre talking about or the act like they’re better that everyone lol this guy seemed super nice though
I've shopped here for a bow, and they're like this all the time, Mark let me shoot all the bows I wanted, then I left and came back a few months later, and shot more bows and ordered a bow from them. I think I was there a couple hours getting set up with my bow. This is a pro shop with great service.
Your title says "$500 ARCHERY SHOP CHALLENGE". Also both of you said the same thing. The bow that you chose was already $399.99 (plus tax it's over $400). Plus the extras (i.e. arrows, release and anything else that was behind the scenes). I am just pointing out the obvious. Your challenge was busted from the start. I am not trying to be an ass. I totally understand that archery adds up quick. I want everything and my wife has to keep me inline or I would be spending allot. I totally liked the video and what you are passing on to hopefully new archers. I totally like the sales guy. I liked it when he said you don't have to pay over a grand to hunt, target shoot or just have fun. If I was close I would buy from that store. Keep up the good work. I stand corrected. Everything for $473.95. That is a great deal! That archery shop defiantly takes care of all their customers. That is a very nice bow. It's fast, smooth shooting. Now I want one too. What are the specs on the BEAR ARCHERY AZ31?
All my bow hunting friends all have expensive setups. This before is what I needed to get started when I start how hunting! Thanks again you guys are great! #beararchery
i also hear a lot of people talk about shoulder injuries and archery. i have had over 35 shoulder dislocations on my right and 10 on my left. opted out of surgery and quit playing football. i have a btx-31 by bowtech. i have it set to the performance setting and draw 70, no issues. start at 50 lbs, or 60, build strength in those muscles then bump up to 70 or 80 if your bow allows, get the most out of your tool. i know people who will flat out not even shoot a bow any more because of an "injury" dont limit yourselves
I haven’t had anyone to teach me anything outdoors related. You guys have really helped me gain the confidence to get out into the woods and start hunting on my own. #beararchery
Man after my first experience at my local shop this sales man is the real deal and not out to make a buck. Truly out to help the community from beginner or professional. I’d travel to deal with him
My first bow was a Fred Bear recurve nearly 50 years ago. My last bow was a Hoyt 50-70lb and it was great. So much I had to learn the hard way back then. This is a great video for the beginner. Attaboys *****
I'm fortunate enough to have an archery shop in my home town with a really knowledgeable bow tech like this. He helped me set up a new-to-me bow this year, so I'm all set for the whitetail woods! If I'm selected for this bow giveaway, I'd like to pay it forward to a veteran or active-duty service member. I'd also make them a new @kohlscustomknives hunting knife to go with it! #beararchery
Hey The Hunting Public! I have been with you guys when you were at around 15k subs so I've been here a bit. I have learned a lot from you guys and love all your content! I would love a new bow as I have recently got back into the phenomena convinced by your vids! I currently shoot an old takedown Samick recurve and would love to get a compound. Only thing is that I'm only 16 so don't quite have 500 or 800 dollars to spend on a good new bow but rather save the majority of my work money for a car! Thanks for reading this if you see it! #beararchery
@@BowhuntersUnited okay thanks! I like shooting it but would love a new compound just don't have the money yet. Maybe in the future I will invest in one👍
If your in Burnsville Minnesota i highly recommend Shaffer performance Archery. I just got started into Archery and got to do the exact steps shown in this video. The sales people are amazing!!
I have a sister that finally wants to start hunting, all she needs is a bow, and her birthday is in a few weeks. I would absolutely LOVE to give her this. #beararchery
if you were looking into maybe buying her a bow and she maybe wants something more girly there is a pink and blue camo bow from hoyt and i have to say i love it.
@@AxcelGamer97 yep bow goes from middle of September to December 31st while rifle is just the from the first Saturday or November to the next Sunday. I've also hunted muzzleloader so that's two more weekends but I haven't seen a deer, my hunting land is probably too far from food...
After I had a labrum tear I had to draw exactly like him. After enough physical therapy and reconditioning, I was finally able to draw correctly again. Having your elbow in makes it much more stable for a torn up shoulder. I’m not a dr, but after going through this process and learning how to be a reconditioning trainer I wouldn’t tell him to draw any other way until his shoulder is built up enough. 7 years later I can draw normally, but in the beginning I could feel my shoulder getting torn up drawing with my elbow high.
Awesome salesman! Wish I could have someone that helpful, patient, & comforting. I recently bought my first bow & even tho they were helpful, I feel they didn't give me as much information as I needed. I'm sure if I would have asked they would have but again, I'm a total newb so I didn't know what to ask. Great video guys! Very helpful!
I'm sure he didn't want to tell the guy how to draw but watching him draw like that over and over when I knew the guy could have told him something was unbearable. Mindy had that draw tho!
As a twelve year old archer I can agree with shooting 20 yards to get good form. It doesn’t hurt to shoot 25-30 yards after you get comfortable because all it does is magnifies your mistakes so a shot 1 or 2 inches left might be 4-6 inches left so you can adjust so sight or work in your form. If you see this please let me know how much progress you have made I have been shooting a compound bow since I was 8 or 9 and can honestly say that I can constantly shoot 4 inch groups at 40 yards. Just today I was shooting so I know I was good for white tail deer season in pa and shot a arrow almost through the other but it was off just a slight bit so I just broke and arrow and didn’t get bragging rights.
@@azbittel there are several good quality bows under the $750 mark that people can buy from bear, pse, etc. There is absolutely no reason why someone needs to spend that if they are getting their first bow, and just trying to get into the sport.
No joke it was literally my birthday last month I’ve always loved bow hunting but I don’t have the funds to get a bow and the #beararchery package would really mean the world to me
I remember buying my first bow when I was younger. It was nothing like this. I was literally thrown into a bow that was way too long and out of tune. I had to fight it for several hundred shots to get it right at the house and learn how to shoot a bow that was too long! This was also before UA-cam lol. Everyone needs to see this so they know how it should be. When I bought a new Mathews v3 this year I was thoroughly impressed with my dealer and how he wanted to help and make sure every single thing was perfect unlike before when I had to figure it out on my own 10 years prior. People like this guy can make your experience everything it needs to be!
Hi sir I am interested in buying a bow for hunting. what price range would be good for something that can kill deer, ducks, that can also last? something solid that can last a while thank you!
Absolutely wonderful video! My son and I just had the most horrible experience here in Virginia at a shop called HNS archery. They really didn’t want us to try any gear and we ended up walking out. Not the way to treat potential customers new to the sport. I just wish this shop was closer to Virginia....
I bought a species ld in July did upgrade the sight, quiver and have a regular peep sight not the one with the cord. Got a deer in early October then got my second one 3 days ago. First deer with a compound bow both were on public land. But i also did get a good sized 9 point and a small doe with mr crossbow also.
One of the first things I did with my cheaper bow was replace the whisker biscuit with a drop rest. It made a huge difference in the consistency of shots. Unfortunately I don't have a shop around here that has an indoor range to practice on, but I the shop I go to has a very good guy who runs it that does all the work on my bow. We went through basically everything the same as on here with draw length, peep setup, and paper tuning, but we just weren't able to do sight adjustment.
I am just starting the dive into researching how to get started. This video was very helpful. The pro shop tech/sales rep, was so knowledgeable knows his stuff without any doubt.
I wish my shop was anything like this.. it was just oh yeah drop it off well call you for pick up. Ask to help get my 20 set “oh we don’t do that cause I’m not your draw” but I can shoot it you make the adjustments as they do here.. and after I had my draw length adjusted they never had me test it to make sure my peep sight and posture was proper for shooting!
I purchased an old bear archery blacktail hunter for 20 bucks at a yard sale, put a 5 pin sights, whisker biscuit, counterweights, wrist sling, quiver, string silencers, d loop and a release for $100 in then 50 on some arrows and broadheads in total, you don't have to spend $500, I mean it would be nice if I had the money for sure. Bust most people don't have that to spend on a bow. Mine takes deer down just the same.
Great video! Got my first bow a couple years ago at one of the chain sporting goods stores. The salesman was helpful, but it seemed hurried because they were busy and he wanted to move on to the next customer. After watching this I realize all the things I should've learned before leaving the store.
its amazing...seeing how many people singing this salesman praise. now im not tryin to dump on the guy but if you go into the bow rack the difference noticeable
I've NEVER been in a shop that had someone that helpful and focused on making a customer happy. He needs a raise
He's the owner.
bring a camera
Archers Corner in Lawton, OK is excellent.
Someone get this sales guy a drink he’s the definition of professional
Amen
Preach!
I'll be purchasing my first bow in the new year. This really helped me understand what ill be looking to get in a bow. The local Sportsman wear house has a really cool old timer that really does it because he loves Archery. Ill be working with him on different bows till I find my final purchase. Great video
Agreed. Outstanding salesmanship & very professional
Ha that’s my uncle
Kudos to that salesman. He was so patient, and knowledgeable. He didnt try to push him one way or the other. That's how you get lifetime customers.

Exactly what a first experience should be

Yo it’s so cool he’s in my city it’s legit called howeys tackle and it’s door county
Man literally the guy helping sell the bow had me wishing he was local. I wanted to go out and buy a bow just watching
I just went there to get a bow
Literally same lol
This guy is awesome at his job. I learned more about bows in 10 minutes than I ever thought possible
What bow did he actually buy ? And arrows?
This dude is great at his job. I almost posted my credit card number
So what's your card number??? Im waiting
@@Space_Winnie same I want a new bow
Much better experience than when I purchased my bow. I wish I would've seen this video beforehand.
😂🤣😂🤣
LOL!
We need more quality, and honest salesmen like him..
i find more niche specialist stores have salesmen like this. they get the job because they're passionate about the hobby
HNH Outdoors yeah I was super happy to see how helpful he was without the snarky “oh you don’t know as much as I do.” Attitude.
I haven’t had the greatest experience with mark the salesman in the video
I wish all retail stores had a salesperson like this! He was so good
This guy is a wealth of professional and educational knowledge. The kinda guy you take your buddy to go buy his first bow from.
I love sales people like that guy. Friendly, knowledgeable, and doesn't say things just because he wants you to know that he knows. I learned a lot just watching this.
Salesman so good he sold me on getting a bow.
I’m interested in starting archery so I watched this and I feel like I just bought a bow myself. Excellent salesmanship & professionalism
Hows the journey going?
Many of us get caught up in the “flagship” addiction. So many great budget bows available that will equally get the job done for hunting. 👍
Guilty
Remember this if you're accurate with your shot it doesn't matter the kind of money you spend you put it in the right spot the animal will go down
A trick I was taught for my peep, close your eyes and draw. Get your natural anchor, nose on the string just like you’re about to shoot and then open your eyes. That’s where you’re going to be every time instead of moving your head to the peep. Make your adjustments from there.
That's not a trick, it's just the way to do it... so many people out there craning their necks to use the peep...
That’s just like learning your “natural point of aim” when you’re shooting with firearms.
Props to the salesman! He is doing a fantastic job! I would feel 100% comfortable taking advice and learning from him.
10:22 🔥 This paper tuning section changed the game for me. I had a high-tail tear, so I moved my D-loop down to achieve a perfect paper tear.
I'd love to find a local archery shop that's as helpful and knowledgeable as these guy's that are helping him

i also hear a lot of people talk about shoulder injuries and archery. i have had over 35 shoulder dislocations on my right and 10 on my left. opted out of surgery and quit playing football. i have a btx-31 by bowtech. i have it set to the performance setting and draw 70, no issues. start at 50 lbs, or 60, build strength in those muscles then bump up to 70 or 80 if your bow allows, get the most out of your tool. i know people who will flat out not even shoot a bow any more because of an "injury" dont limit yourselves
I haven’t had anyone to teach me anything outdoors related. You guys have really helped me gain the confidence to get out into the woods and start hunting on my own. #beararchery
That bow shop guy was great. Great video. I’ve enjoyed your “offseason” videos. #beararchery
You guys are like the only hunting you tubers that don’t spend 1000 on a bow
My first bow was a $300 Chinese special. Still killed the same as my $1300 PSE setup.
Man after my first experience at my local shop this sales man is the real deal and not out to make a buck. Truly out to help the community from beginner or professional. I’d travel to deal with him
Wish all bow shops were like this one!
"Into the woods I go, to lose my mind and find my soul." John Muir #beararchery
I have always wanted a bow
Is it me or did his draw length look way too long?. Great info in the video.
Love these vids keep up the good work #beararchery
I think it was more of him not getting his correct anchor everytime he kept wanting to float his hand and put his face past the string
Great info in video... Id love a new bow..... #Beararchery
He was moving his head forward...
It looks crazy long
My first bow was a Fred Bear recurve nearly 50 years ago. My last bow was a Hoyt 50-70lb and it was great. So much I had to learn the hard way back then. This is a great video for the beginner. Attaboys *****
This video even made me think about buying a bow.
If you do win...I’m active duty army
Hey The Hunting Public! I have been with you guys when you were at around 15k subs so I've been here a bit. I have learned a lot from you guys and love all your content! I would love a new bow as I have recently got back into the phenomena convinced by your vids! I currently shoot an old takedown Samick recurve and would love to get a compound. Only thing is that I'm only 16 so don't quite have 500 or 800 dollars to spend on a good new bow but rather save the majority of my work money for a car! Thanks for reading this if you see it! #beararchery
Samick is a great recurve! If you need help with shooting, tuning or anything else trad archery feel free to reach out to us.
#beararchery I've rifle hunted but I've always wanted to get into bow hunting, much longer season
Where are you hunting? I got into bowhunting for the same reason is why I ask.
@@AxcelGamer97 North central Minnesota, somewhat of a pressured area, not super super high but not low, but bow season would a lot better than rifles
Alan Leukuma Bow season is a hell of a lot longer in Kansas than rifle, so I’m bow hunting here now. Rifle season is like 10 days.
@@AxcelGamer97 yep bow goes from middle of September to December 31st while rifle is just the from the first Saturday or November to the next Sunday. I've also hunted muzzleloader so that's two more weekends but I haven't seen a deer, my hunting land is probably too far from food...
Alan Leukuma Decided that if you can’t beat them then join em haha
He’s tearing up his shoulder even more with how he’s drawing back, everybody is different tho
If my second compound bow was a bear I’d lay down my v-tech all my recurves have always been by Fred bear # bearbow
#beararchery I would love to be able to win this for my son to start bow hunting.
I’ve been wanting a bow for ages but saving up is difficult #beararchery
This guy is a 5-star salesman! Really knowledgeable and helpful. I also like the fact that he doesn’t force people to buy the more expensive model
Someone give my boy a raise lol
#beararchery
My cousin broke my bow and my pockets are empty cause of COVID so cant archery hunt this year
Hang in there !
I'm sure he didn't want to tell the guy how to draw but watching him draw like that over and over when I knew the guy could have told him something was unbearable.
Mindy had that draw tho!
I feel like he's overbowed. I drew wierd until I got used to my draw weight. Took a month or so
As a twelve year old archer I can agree with shooting 20 yards to get good form.
Me knowing nothing about bow hunting or bow’s in general thinking budget of 500$ being cheap in that scene.
@@azbittel there are several good quality bows under the $750 mark that people can buy from bear, pse, etc. There is absolutely no reason why someone needs to spend that if they are getting their first bow, and just trying to get into the sport.
No joke it was literally my birthday last month I’ve always loved bow hunting but I don’t have the funds to get a bow and the #beararchery package would really mean the world to me
I like having customers that cooperative. Kids and females are the easiest to instruct. That guy would be an excellent customer
I wanna shake this guy’s hand and buy him a beer. Knowledgeable, polite, professional. What a good experience. Give this guy business
“Perfect!” Minus the 765 psi of facial/string pressure…. Good luck tuning haha
Superior customer service!
Amazed at how much science is involved with this sport.
Being new to my area I haven't been to any of my local shops yet but I feel like I'm gonna have a hard time finding a guy that is this helpful.
This salesman legit better have gotten a raise! What a great walthrough/presentation/explanation.
That salesman/pro was incredible! The man clearly knows his stuff and really ticked every single box
I'm very thankful to have a great bow shop with very knowledgeable folks.
By the comments, I am guessing a lot of us don't.
Bob and AJ's in Pipersville PA. Great guys there.
its amazing...seeing how many people singing this salesman praise. now im not tryin to dump on the guy but if you go into the bow rack the difference noticeable
