    I just watched this one again... that was about the smoothest use of a Thompson whip finish tool I've ever seen. Well done!

      @@joeduca8582 I just saw it... I think it was actually his "Skittles" bomber. That thing looks fun!

    Great timing....This is my go to Bomber Refresher channel.
    Took me a long time to find a pair of Tiemco Scissors, but I finally did. (three different pair of dedicated deer hair scissors now)

    I appreciate that you are an amazing tier yet you are still trying to get better and help fellow tiers do the same, instead of thinking your method is the best you are constantly tweaking and learning. Great work!!

    Great video. I'm trying to subscribe but it keeps adding it to my save/watch later list! >:o( Anyway great tutorial and common sense attitude on tying. A friend, Matt from Savage Flies gave me the heads up on your channel. Bombers are cool, I've tied a few when I first started working with deer hair and tying Dahlberg's Diver and various poppers. Not much Atlantic salmon fishing here in NYS except for the landlocked variety that's caught occasionally. 300 years ago was a different story. Still, I love the flies and the traditions of fishing for them. Thanks for sharing your skills.

      Thanks so much for the kind words Joe. Those Dahlbergs are serious deer work

    I’d rather caribou it’s a pain trimming , but it floats much nicer

    Hey Chris, thanks for all of these helpful videos. I've heard some people advocate not packing bombers too tightly, claiming they float better (a la Carters Bug). Do you have an opinion?

    • @newfoundlandflyfisher
      @newfoundlandflyfisher  2 роки тому +2

      My opinion is just that hahaha. I like my bombers tightly packed. They do not get water logged as quickly, maybe because they sit higher? Idk

    Great video!!! Do you prefer Metz or Whiting saddles for bombers?

    • @newfoundlandflyfisher
      @newfoundlandflyfisher  2 роки тому

      I prefer Whiting when you can find the right sized saddle. Im my experience Metz is usually better sized for bombers, unless you can get your hands on Whiting Euro Hackle or the High and Dry

  • @Hookedonthefly2
    @Hookedonthefly2 7 місяців тому

    Does the hackle size matter? Is there a particular size you prefer, or recommend?

    • @newfoundlandflyfisher
      @newfoundlandflyfisher  7 місяців тому +1

      I try to size my hackle so it extends at least to the hook point. Large sized hackle is becoming increasingly harder to find. If you can get your hands on it, large Whiting saddle is the best.

    If you don’t mind tell me but what supplies are you using for this bomber

    • @newfoundlandflyfisher
      @newfoundlandflyfisher  Рік тому +1

      Hey Jacksen, the following is what i used in the video.
      1) White calf tail for wings
      2) caribou fur for the body
      3) partridge cs42 for hook
      4) rooster saddle that is sized large for hackle
