I don't understand the hate with minivans. I personally have a diesel pickup and a mini van as my two vehicles and it's the perfect combo. Truck does truck things, van does van things. It's comfy to drive, super versatile with the stow-n-go seats, and my daughter loves it. I've even camped in it and I've transported my daughter's small ATV in it. It's friggin sweet.
I don't understand the hate either. Minivans are the most versatile vehicles. I drove to the airport 3 adults, 3 children passengers, 10 large luggages (50 pounds), 5 carry on luggage, with 22 MPG. What car can you do that with?
I have transported everything with my minivan. 10x8s, washer and dryer at the same time (with second row chairs removed) , concrete bags, everything I could fit in it 😁
Kia missed the mark by not making the hybrid Carnival AWD.
It only adds weight, price, and reduced gas mileage. With global warming in full stride, you won't have to worry about snow. Besides, minivans and AWD are oxymoron
Kia would rather sell you a Telluride if you need AWD.
Kia missed mark by being Kia. They still are making shitty products
@@peopleschampgarage7869 Lol that's simply not true

Mini vans have come a long way. I think the Kia looks better ! Andre is hilarious!!
Mini vans are the road tripping machines that people make fun of because they haven't driven one on a long trip.
The Kia looks better inside and out. Probably a better price and you won't have to wait a year or more to get gouged by your local Toyota dealer.
Great vid. You guys seem to have more fun making vids than the young’uns on your team. Random question: what brand glasses on Roman?
Great Video. Commentary of both is the best 😂
Everyone says "they're junk" but every Kia I've driven has been very nice, loaded with features that the competition does not have. It doesn't surprise me that the interior of the Kia was more luxurious than in the Toyota.
kia's ARE junk, they lure you in with their warranty and their interiors, but you will soon learn why people stay away from kia's. very shallow cars with more style than substance. their value drops very fast and will often not last long. good luck with that.
They are great to drive but owning them like gambling
@@emikomina FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO CRY ABOUT KIA RELIABILITY:
TOYOTA admitted that data on the power output of 10 models sold worldwide had been manipulated, prompting an apology from Toyota President Koji Sato to the company’s customers.
Toyota Motor Corp. said on Monday that power output data had been manipulated for 10 of its models sold globally.
Toyota Industries said Monday it fabricated data on the torque output of diesel engines it makes and supplies to Toyota, resulting in a partial halt of shipments of its cars.
An independent investigation has expanded to uncover "irregularities" in data for safety tests on 64 models, including 22 sold under the Toyota brand. It means Daihatsu, which first fessed up to rigged data in April and again in May, joins the massed ranks of shamed Japanese automakers discovered to have been concocting test data.
Daihatsu (TOYOTA OWNED) stopped all shipments at home and abroad last month due to safety test rigging. Hino motors (TOYOTA OWNED) admitted in March 2022 to submitting fraudulent emissions and fuel economy data to transport authorities.

Thank you TFL for this review. Regarding the Kia Carnival with the 3.5l powertrain, any data on longevity of this engine or issues? Is it just direct injection or is Kia using both DI and Multiport? Appreciate all the video's you guys post. Cheers!
Kia's have REALLY stepped up their designs way more than toyota or honda have over the past few years. This looks so much better than a traditional mini van look. My next car is going to be a station wagon, and I was really regretting it, because as a guy, I don't want to drive something that LOOKS like a minivan. This is the first one I've seen that looks more like it's just an extended length, regular SUV. That doesn't look like it's an obvious soccer mom car. Thank you kia
I’m having so many electrical issues with the carnival right now. Been at the dealership for last 5 months they can’t get it started. Can’t figure it out. Hope the 25 madel is updated.
the glasses make Roman look like Tommy
Toyota needs a Sienna prime!! They didn’t have the platinum version which has 4 zone climate and the ottomans, powered tilt/slide steering wheel, 12 way powered front seats, auto wipers, adaptive headlights.. also Sienna has had ottomans since the 2011 model year so nothing really new there
But the Kia has power second row seats and ventilated rear seats. And also only the driver seat gets 4 way lumbar. The passenger seat only moves in 4 ways vs 8 ways on the Kia
And the Kia has a rear sunroof that opens which the sienna used to have

Good luck finding a Sienna on a lot. Been on the wait list for 3 months. Plus lowest I have seen is MSRP. Started to look at odyssey and carnival so this was very helpful.
I really don't understand why there's a such shortage of Sienna. Is Toyota still having supply and manufacturing issues or they simply can't build the Sienna fast enough
Canada local dealership tells me waiting time is 2 yr for hybrid awd sienna lol
@@whyallthefuss201 Toyota minivan sells very well in Asia and other emerging markets. In US, Toyota SUV generates more profits. The correct question should be "Why would Toyota ship more minivans to US to cannibalize its own SUV sales and generate less profit?"
@@CharDaiDaddy Toyota Siennas sold in the US are made in the US. From what I am able to gather, the Indiana factory is making as many Siennas as possible. Maybe they simply miscalculated the demand
Demand of Sienna is very high. I waited over 1 year to buy my 2023 Sienna AWD in east coast at MSRP, and glad I waited. I am averaging 37 mpg overall and it drives well. Toyota’s reliability is unmatched.
We were looking at Vans couple years ago like 2019 I show my wife to sienna she said that thing is ugly I showed her the Odyssey she fell in love with the Odyssey we still have it to this day and it rides good and great and comfortable.
The new stigma is the Tahoe and Yukon, mothers carting their 1 child around in a bus
Will you be able to buy either lol Siennas are a long wait right now and Kia Canada is withholding a lot of deliveries particularly hybrids, I'm not optimistic.
An incident occurred in Korea where the owner's Carnival burned down after 5 minutes of driving and Kia urgently issued a refund.

From 2022+ Kia Carnival General Discussion Forum :
I just got the 2023 SX Prestige but there has been some rattling noise when I driver on the bumpy road/ uneven surfaced road.
I have this also. Same (perceived) location. Can't really pinpoint location. May be in driver's door as it sometimes goes away if I open and close the door at a stop.
I just got a new Kia carnival 2024 sx and am hearing the same rattling near the front side/seat belt column area on both drivers and passengers door.
Yep. Same issue with me. It seems to only make the noise on the highway. But it is totally random.
I’m having the same issue with my 2024 SX prestige. The noise seems to be from driver/sliding door on driver side.
I have the 2024 Kia Carnival and I hear rattling noise when I drive over uneven roads/pavement coming from the rear of the vehicle.
Got our 2023 SX Prestige last week and from the first mile itself, I could hear some clunking noise from the back when I go over bad patches of road/speed bumps.
did anyone had same problem as mine... squeaking / creaking sound from dashboard when drive on uneven / bumpy road...
Yes! Got our car on Oct 22, 2022. It’s an ex 2023. Today 10/27/2022 I started to notice. Creaking noise when I stop and go and on some slightly bumpy roads…. I don’t like it
I have a kia carnival sx prestige, I have the creaking sound just whenever it wants to make the noise, I have replaced the struts and mounts, leftside lower control arm and the brakes and still the same sound, took it to kia and they charged me for 2 hours of trying to figure it out, 465.00 . I had someone tell me it sounds like 2 pieces of plastic scraping rubbing together and the noise sounds like under the driver's seat to him. I about to trade it for a dodge.
I have a noise at random times on the highway. Sounds like it is coming from the lower part of the driver side door.
Anyone find a fix for this, my 22 EX+ model is doing this, seems like plastic trim behind the dual screens in the noise source.
What is tow rating for Carnival hybrid? Does it match Siennas 3500 lb?
We have a 2015 Sienna. Aside from the hybrid engine and a different front fascia this looks pretty much the same. Disappointed that in nine years that haven’t changed the interior much.
Make sure you know how much to pay for replace the batteries 🔋? Scary to find out
32 MPG US??? That would be impressive!! I’m in Canada so officially we are l/100km, but when we talk MPG it’s the Imperial gallon,,,, which is 1.20095 US gallons. Si the mpg we would calculate to would be 38.43 mpg!!
Just a quirk, but 38.43 mpg (imp) sounds even better!! 😂😂😂.
It’ll be interesting, but the reliability, which I occasionally challenge some Toyota products on, in this case could be a very real factor as well as the resale. Kia has an expensive routine maintenance program that’s close to Toyota’s. That isn’t any advantage either. For this one, gimmick & all that Kia offers with the Carnival, I prefer the Toyota Sienna.
Looks like the two “Big” bosses 😂 are having a good time there at the CAS!! Great to see! 😊
My cousin always had minivans, I was never a fan, but now that I've spent time in my cousin's van I hate my car. The van is so much nicer. Sure if you've got kids they are great, but if you are taking care of older parents they are fabulous too. Older people and handicap people often take a toll when doing long trips, those reclining seats would be amazing for them.
Plus, minivans are just more comfortable for anyone. Now that the gas mileage is better I'm all for having one. Plus, this Kia looks really amazing inside and out.
I want an off road 4 wheel drive VAN !!
i had one, and it's so good value, best car in range for family
I have a 2006 Nissan quest mini van and love my next van will be the carnival looks nice and luxurious
Still waiting for our Sienna... i should just preorder the Kia and see which one comes quicker. Toyota needs to bring more units to Canada!
Whats the wait times that they mentioned for the Sienna?
I keep looking for a van without that space robbing center console, is there any out there?
Maybe wait for the VW Buzz? The Hyundai Staria is available with 3 across front seating... but of COURSE it's not available in the USA!
I own a 2023 sienna XLE plus fwd and I average 32 mpg so Kia is moving in the right direction but reliability would still be a concern for me anyway!
I'm outside the city i would still go with the V6 my current van is always loaded or moving quickly loaded.. with 6 people a few stuff going 70 to 80 mph with couple hills get 27 mpg.. 6 persons fully loaded right to the nuts plus a hitch cargo carrier with goods and 50 litres of fuel doing 75 to 85 mph still getting 21 mpg in the older 3.3 V6 plus i tow quite abit with mine.. which the hybrid suffers in high demand duties plus weak engine braking
Can you compare the back seat of the Kia Carnival Sx Prestige to the Lexus Ultra Luxury? I think these back seats are BETTER than the seats in the Lexus Ultra Luxury. I am very tempted to buy this because it can be a VIP transport vehicle in one instant and a minivan in another instant and a huge luggage transport system in another instant. So, Very versatile!
I think these companies are missing the mark on minivans in general. I don’t buy a minivan because I want a hybrid or all-wheel-drive. I buy a minivan because I want an easily accessible third row seat that’s big enough to fit my giant American kids and have enough interior space for all of our stuff in the back
For the Carnaval to move to the #1 position on my purchase list , it has to get AWD to make it the best it can be in the snow-belt states
Not even just snowbelt. Not wanting to get stuck in a tiny bit of mud at a campsite is preferable.
Several ppl drive minivans in the snow in Canada and they are fine. Awd isn't always necessary and it's more maintenance @xtremecoast
@@mattblock6616 Good for them. Normal people don't want to change tires every 6 months. Good all season tires and AWD is the way to go. My mazda is amazing with regular tires.
@@xtremecoast define normal. And how much of these "normal" are in the majority. Ppl but a lot of fwd cars in winter areas. And have you heard of tire rotations?
@@mattblock6616 tire rotations are not the same thing. Moving the same set of tires around versus having 2 sets of tires is completely different.
I have own Siennas for the past 14 years and love the reliability (driving a 2016 Sienna at this time), but I hate the design both interior and exterior.
I would love to buy the interior and exterior design of the Carnival but with the engine and hybrid power of the Sienna. Still concerned about Kia engine reliability, especially their new hybrid
Who has a better ac?
Hello? did we just fall asleep and wake up in wonderland......This CarniVAL will never touch the reliablility of ANY Toyota. So that being said...... KEEP DREAMING.
it's all water under the bridge " TFL new Motto.. But that Hand off film wise was good..
One thing I don't like is it doesn't have all wheel drive option.
where I live the demand for Sienna was crazy, the waiting list was 5 years. Now it has come to 2 years since the Grand Highlander came
I am not a fan of the Kia. Maybe this looks better in person but I just saw one (maybe an older model year???) but that rear side portion with the silver piece is just awful. Otherwise, to me, maybe it would be okay but the one I saw in person I saw that trim piece and thought how horrible. It looks just like what you’re reviewing
it looks like the kia picanto that they sell in asia
Toyota still builds an inferior product. I test drove the Sienna when I was minivan shopping and it is loud and anemic. I grew up driving pickups from the 70s and 80s that are quieter than this minivan under acceleration. Accelerating up a hill in the Sienna was unnerving with all the revs and noise. There is no way I could drive this daily in the hills of Virginia where I live. Kia did it right by using a turbo and a real transmission, I am sure it will drive 1000 times better than the Sienna. The Toyota Awd is a joke, just watch the TFL slip tests. Not until the Crown did Tommy say they finally got it right.
Carnival looked really tight between the captains chairs like not enough room for a kid to get into the back seat ? I have more room in my 19 sienna 🤷🏼♂️
Good minivan but the Sienna just feels more functional and better laid out interior wise.
AWD minivans are the new affordable Suburban/Expedition alternatives for families
More manufacturers need to work on plug-in hybrids and re-evs. They give the best of both worlds, especially the range extended electric vehicles. With all the news and trouble coming out about pure electric vehicles, they clearly are not the end-all-be-all solution that the government wants. But a plug-in or range extended, especially the plug-ins solve a lot of those issues.
Problem is they are alot more complex than EVs and internal combustion engine.
@@evoemperor3776 not really for a plug-in. Just need a bigger battery, a way to wall charge and slightly different software. The thing is a lot of manufacturers have plug-ins, but only one of their hybrids out of the whole lineup. It doesn't make sense why they wouldn't carry that technology over to other models. I think Toyota even got rid of the Prius plug-in, but don't quote me on that.
The Prius Prime is still available and there’s the RAV4 Prime. But as you said plug in hybrid needs a bigger battery. For large SUV and minivans they already have high the curb weights, adding a bigger battery will add even more to that, reducing the efficiency. As battery tech improves, eventually that will come. Also plug in works for those living in a house or has charging at work, for those living in apartments or in the city there’s just no infrastructure to provide the charging.
@@ebels3The prius prime (phev) still exists.
Hybrids are the most reliable vehicles sold in the last 10 years.
Just remember, the Kia will eventually blow up on you
Toyota relies on their reliability to sell vehicles, and that's why they don't push the envelope on innovation.
Cuz without their reliability, nobody will buy it
Which is better in a crash?
No AWD. What the heck were they thinking? I would have been an instant buyer. Hard pass now.
I thought Kia finally dumped the parrot fish grill look?
