I had the dvd of this concert when I was a kid, it is one of my first love with jazz, even today after few decades , it still magical to see Stanley and his team mates, thank you for thr MUSIC maestros🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Charnett Moffett. I hope I spelled that right. He absolutely destroys every song he plays on. Amazing bassist and awesome you noticed him during Stanley ripping it.
Jesus. The pocket of these guys is like a mile deep. This is some superb, extra ultra good jazz. Stanley is way ahead of most guitarists, but all the other three are also fantastic. I haven't listened to Kirkland much but this performance is simply genius. The bassist is killing it.
What a super band, this is why I love live performances.I like the way Stanley sounds with& without a keyboard player. All those musical voices were perfect in their dimension. The 1st time I heard Stanley live ( in the 1980's)he played solo, what a treat to hear him work with other jazz greats.
I have listened to this performance off Cornucopia more times than I can count. Seeing it here with the video is something else. Thanks for posting this!
When I was teen I saw a video of him on PBS around 96' and have ALWAYS thought it was a shame more people didn't know about him. For years after that I would bring him up to every guitar player I talked to and nobody knew what I was talking about.
Oh snap! That's Rhythm Jones, the drummer in Bleek Gilliam's quintet! OK, I know it's the incomparable Jeff "Tain" Watts, who I had the pleasure of interviewing for a jazz publication a few years back.
And rock players think Eddie van Halen was good. Not even close, his playing was all over the place. Here is a master. Stanley knows rhythm, melody and harmony

Bassist is killing it !

The late Charnett Moffett on bass. Absolutely killer.
Piano - Kenny Kirkland
Guitar - Stanley Jordan
Bass - Charnett Moffett
Drums - Jeff "Tain" Watts
aramovski bass is Legendary Charnett moffet
The great drummer...Jeff “Tain” Watts!
Erskine is far better and more musical.
Ty!
just looking for this and found you-- cheers

It was done in 1991 and now is 2017, the first time I'd heard of this guitarist. Thanks to YT.
His hair has even turned straight today...

Saw him on tv decades ago, never knew his name, just typed on google images guy playing jazz on guitar like a piano lmao
Stanley Jordan I was mesmerized by the way he played. Wes Montgomery used his thumb and this guy all the fingers of his right hand I am stumped.
Beautiful! Bravo! Gold!
Incredible in every regard
Superb version....perhaps his best !!
Kenny Kirkland wow. Lost forever a pianist that I could not stop listening to.
Kenny really killed it here...RIP Mr. Kirkland
Fantastico...
Magnífico. Não me canso de ver!
Superb. Awesome.
6:32 If you didn't notice that Kenny Kirkland is pure genius
One of my all-time favorite jazz pianists. He left us _way_ too soon.
#11 triad if you wanna know :)
I was there, and if not mistaken it was JVC Jazz Festival at Carnegie Hall, New York.
¡ Maravilloso!
beautiful. hats off to the bassist..
Excellent showww

somehow i still prepare the Canada version, the way it flows more naturally makes it my favorite

Charnett Moffett.
@@YaoEspirito - So is he a coke head?
@@monsterjazzlicks
Oh, I doubt it. If you're familiar with his performances, his level of perfection would be real hard to pull off stoned.
Woo!
Great guitar solo.
Not a solo, was the pianist playing a solo? They played much in common.
remarkble
Just listen to Stanley play the piano and guitar.....
And rock players think Eddie van Halen was good. Not even close, his playing was all over the place. Here is a master. Stanley knows rhythm, melody and harmony
But tapping doesn't sound as good. I do agree that Stanley has amazing talent.
Eddie was better than most, he just wasn't a jazz guitarist.
to be fair Stanley acknowledged Eddie's influence
RIP Kenny.
Anyone know Stanley's tuning on this one?
Low to high E A D G C F
@@khalaziafaqih367 thanks!
Was that the drummer from mo betta blues?
Yes. His name is Jeff “Tain” Watts. Famous for his time in Wynton and Branford Marsalis’s bands throughout the 80s and 90s.
"Moon over Bourbon street" took quite liberally from the "Autumn leaves"
No indication yet that he would grow up to be a lesbian.
What??!!
@@monsterjazzlicks
You seen him lately?
Still brilliant, but the appearance kind of disturbing.
@@YaoEspirito - No I haven't?!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
