This is the type of person we need in the house of commons to help keep the country on track and keep food on tables. So much covered and everything makes sense on what was discussed.
Thank you, thank you for a refreshingly honest and accurate view on the fashionable rewilding and "reintroduction" of lynx, beaver, badgers and protein farming.
I'm in Iowa, one of the 50 states in the US, and found this podcast fascinating. We have an ongoing study about farmland ownership and tenure in Iowa, and it has been done the longest, for over 40 years. The big issue in Iowa legislature is foreign ownership of Iowa farm land, especially China.
He has it spot on. What an interesting conversation. We need to convince those idiots who sit at desk and make these insane rules up that are destroying our land.
A smarter person than me once said the moment you're not at the table talking, no matter how futile & a complete waste of time you may believe it to be, then your interests are on the table being carved up in your absence. Another Great podcast really enjoyed watching
Great podcast. It's great to hear the explanation behind some of the decisions that have been made. Half the time we don't hear it or maybe understand it. Great interview, great questions & good answers with interesting stories. Love the quiz at the end. 👏🏼🌾🐄🐑🤩 Looking forward to the next FED one.
As always, a great pod cast. Love watching and being able to see a world view on farming.. Facing the same issues across the world but such a variety of solutions.being proposed. Love the questions for the leader board. I have only gotten about 5 correct each time. 50 stars on the American flag, one for each state.
What a great guy. Talking so much sense. If people were to buy proper food and cook instead of take a ways and Costa Coffee etc. We would have a far less over weight population and we would be helping famers and the Country. And also get rid of all this dam plastic that everything is wrapped in. The supermarket keep on about going green, well about time they did something about it. But on no all that care about is profit. Rant over 😡🤣
The common man is not allowed to hunt in our wee country anymore. I used to breed and work working Jack Russell Terriers for Free... Airguns are licensed now! Bow Hunting has never been allowed, but would be perfect for control! There's even Big Reds cutting aboot Lizzie's bit! Be sucking up crystalyx buckets, and maybe a link to the worms.🤔 ❤️🐑
Inheritance tax on farms cannot be allowed to come in. It might come in now at a small rate but you can guarantee by the time your kids are old enough to inherit a farm the rate will be so high they will have no choice but to sell up.
I think you've mixed up historical US flags and states. We do have 50 of each but there were 48 stars on the flag before Alaska and Hawaii were made states. We've got 5 territories working to become states though their goals keep getting lost in a lot of babble around elections so I've no idea where they are towards progress. Washington DC, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Mariana Islands (a reunion of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam. If history is followed, that would add new stars to the flag which would be fun.
100% depends on what people were eating now (in comparison with the 1950s)... the quality of food has degraded drastically, and it is no longer overall local sourced. It's all high carb/unnecessary high sugar and sodium content, highly processed food/genetically modified..... is it any wonder why food allergies are on the rise?
Martin is great he is interested in looking at both sides THAT is what countries are lacking moderates who are willing to try and make life better Farmers are the backbone of any country but unfortunately they are not seen as essential or interesting because they are not dripping in money and bling
Farming land is a finite resource and should not be given up freely (be that to a government, foreign intent group, etc.) - if able keep it local and in the family. Without local agriculture/farming interests, the people suffer. It's all part of the great plan..... you will own nothing and be happy.....
Still don’t see how farmers are going to demand a value for their product? Farmers will always be on the back foot unless food is scarce. When farmers do get a fair price the costs are hiked up, making suppliers a good margin, again leaving little for the farmer. Young people now see a better and easier way to make a living rather than being tied , particularly to a family farm. Farmers , since ww2 have been treated poorly by the mainstream and paid lip service to by the majority of governments.Environmentalists have in recent years entered the fray, pouring more hardship on farmers and influencing the general public that in fact farming is their enemy.

Wow, just amazing,
You could replace the word ‘Scotland’ with ‘new Zealand’ and most of the discussion would still ring true
Very interesting podcast, really enjoyed it 👏❤️

Great podcast. I would vote for a farming party.
There's definitely a case for it!

There's a pub in Derry called 'The Iona', so there you go you can claim to be a honory 'Derry Girl' .
