    Hey, great video, and easily understandable.
    One slight correction though. On a Cut Rectangle - you have 2 sides Cut, thus your measured value of 0.01 inch is actually 2x the true Kerf of 0.005. Just wanted to leave this here if someone has slots/designs where they only cut 1 side.

    I am so glad to have found you :). I've been looking for this problem for so long and most of the info is about lightburn. But I love illustrator and lightburn looks like 1995 :D. After the first 15 seconds I had to smile painfully because so many times I cut something out and it didn't fit perfectly

      Haha, I know... it's definitely a common problem! & Yes, I love Illustrator... and all the Adobe programs really. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed :)

    What type of wood are you using? Curious about your settings. You have no char at all & no masking. Beautifully done. Excellent kerf video!

      Thank you! I was using Hard Maple Wood 1/8” thick from inventables.com usually I do get some charring when there is no masking. I also have a video about the settings I use: ua-cam.com/video/FAh6wqGklyo/v-deo.html

    Thank you so much for this!! I was wondering what do you do if one side of your kerf test measures differently than the other? I cut out a scare and ordered the tool you linked, but one side measures at .99 and the other .98. Thank you in advance!!

    Great video that explains kerf perfectly. My question is - to create a digital file for someone else to use, their kerf measurement will be different depending on the material they use. Do you include instructions for customers so they can be sure their material fits perfectly using your design? (Hope my q makes sense!)

    • @VicTacToe
      @VicTacToe  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Sharon! Thanks for watching :) I've actually thought about this. I would probably include instructions on how to figure out the kerf, and in your listing mention that every machine is different so they will likely have to make some adjustments for the design to fit perfectly. I've purchased a digital file before that had 2 pieces that fit together and I had to adjust the file a decent amount to get a perfect fit. Hope that helps :)

    Hi there!! When you export to SVG, what does the decimal points mean? Why is it left at 3?

    • @VicTacToe
      @VicTacToe  Рік тому

      Here's one definition: As precision decreases, (the decimal point) SVGs can visually break because there may not be enough numeric data to accurately describe them.
      Basically, I noticed that if the number is any lower than 3 the design gets messed up looking. :)

    Kerf adjustments can make project building very frustrating. I wasted much of my first $200 in materials while trying free SVG or DXF project files. Thank you for showing us what needs to be done.

    Would this same concept work for cnc? I just cut a 1in circle and seen that after the cut the size of the circle was .977. So would the same formula work?

    • @VicTacToe
      @VicTacToe  2 роки тому

      Hi! I haven’t tried it on a cnc, but I imagine it would probably be a similar concept.

    remember not all lasers have an exact square. Most diode laser are rectangles;
