I'm only a few minutes in but I've got questions: 1. Insurance 2. Matainance 3. Parts! Aaahhhh crazy expensive I've thought of converting one because would be amazing!
I had same questions. I’d also like to know how much it costs to fill up? How to did he learn to drive it? Did he have to get bus license? Just seems like it would be extremely costly to run but maybe it’s not since it’s running on solar. For a solar guy he really didn’t go into that too much and that’s where I have a lot of questions. I wanted more info on the solar. Plus why in the world hasn’t he switch to lithium batteries already? Is it bcz of costs or other reasons? Just left with lots of unanswered questions
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll be sure to add more specs in future tours. But to answer your specific questions, I suggest following the @we.are.the.wanderlusters on Instagram.
@@ittybittykittyrescue4843 same here... Lots of questions!!! 😅 I'm gonna have to follow them now! He said it had over 100 gallon tank. If you assume 100 gallons and diesel is at $5/per gallon, then it'll be $500 minimum to fill up. 😬 Yeah, those numbers are tough on my brain. Plus the engine maintenance is a point of concern for me. What if it blows up, even if I'm maintaining it? Then all that money spent on the conversion is wasted? 😭😭😭 My heart can't take that. But, that space in there!!! OMG!!! Buses are so darn amazing!!!! I wonder how many miles it had when they bought it?? 🤔 I just wish I knew more about those engines. 🥺
They’re awesome! We had the chance so camp with them for about 6 weeks, and had so much fun. Alex is a whiz with solar installs and helped fix a bunch of stuff on my setup too!
That bed would be a nightmare to make and get in and out of. The children have a nice room but the upper bunk needs something for safety to prevent an accidental fall. The garden contraption isn’t large enough for those plants when they are full grown. You showed seedlings.
From a married guy with 2 kids and a dog. DO NOT WAIT. With remote work gaining in popularity, there has never been a better time to live nomadically. If the bus intimidates you there are many other options.
Nice build and you'll enjoying life but you got to have chrome wheels and less windows but that's just me this is my dream seeing and going places I've never been
@@richardkendricks1668 yes, let's cut down more trees for paper stuff to throw and heck with the water saving dishwasher, our future peeps don't want fresh water or clean air...
Thoughts on a mini-split system? Nice rig. I wouldn’t have the nerve to drive something that huge, especially towing a truck! Top bunk is like a coffin. I’d have a hard time with that but I guess kids don’t care. Beautifully done!
@@ProjectTrek I have a 20’ travel trailer I’m trying to get rid of and it has an 18,500 BTU unit that I’m convinced weighs more then the trailer! It’s crazy!! Hope the mini’s work out for you. I’ve heard nothing but good about them!

I really like this layout but think if you had a queen sized bed or a full bed you'd be able to have more floor space in your own room or maybe be able to expand the wall to the kids room. Especially for when they are older and taller. They may like more room/privacy. I love the bathroom the most. Very nice.
I really like that they put the hallway on the far side of the bus, that way the bathroom and bunks could take advantage of more room. Most builds seem to put the hallway smack dab in the middle.
@@ProjectTrek Oh wow. I was saying that i thought of you & your video of talking abt heading to the snow when i checked a local webpage here in the Morongo Basin & it had a snowboard listed.

The MCI D Series chassis was the last bulletproof chassis MCI produced. You'll save a ton if you can turn a wrench and it's easy to work on. Like the kitchen design. Nice rig.
@@XEvilxknievilX that's a logical reason. Poor one because then the top bunker can't sit up and be alone on their bed. I personally couldn't sleep on one as a child, it feels like I'm in a coffin. My grandparents had us sleep in their's and I got the top bunk because I was small.
You’re right about the top bunk with ZERO head space to lay, not sit up in the dark small space to play video games next to a big bright room for the parents. No signs that kids even live there until the bunk bed unfinished space. But thank goodness they have a dishwasher, ice maker, bathtub and a king bed. I really liked the bus until I saw the kids space. This guy making this video knows how to make a kids space that kids actually love to be in. Y’all go check that out and you’ll see how to make the kids a part of the home.
Good luck on your hydroponic garden in there and the bus it ain't going to work I'll tell you that now but you'll find out you'll see how it works out but have fun with it anyway. Been there done it that's why I know.
Beautiful home one of the nicest I have seen. Only question is don't you find it scary to haul a vehicle on the back when driving down a road or highway? I know I would find it vastly scary. With the length of the bus then another 20 ft give or take of a vehicle. Just turns alone must take some serious manuvering.
Long towing vehicle with short towed vehicle difficult combo. Forget backing up. I would usually detach the towed vehicle, move both, reattach. Whatever you do, keep the drive axles on solid ground. Turning in tight quarters, envision the rear axles making the turn around any obstacles....I found 40' coaches more maneuverable than 45'.
How do you deal with the fact that most states do Not allow 45' buses on secondary hwy's and rural roads. Only allowed on interstates only. I went the 45' route and finally sold it, got tired of the hassle and getting pulled over.
I may be wrong but I am sure your 12.7 Series 60 must have more hp. My 11.1 series 60 has 365 and about 1350 pounds of torque. its a 97/. Last of the 11.1 before they all the Prevost went to 12.7. Really cool bus and nice life you have.

Great build. Only thing i didn't like was how the top bunk barely had any head space while the bottom had plenty.
I see that so often in renos & factory builds. I get claustrophobic just looking at them!
I think it was built that way so that the kids can sit upright on the bottom bed when they want to hang out and use the top one only when they sleep.
