I also posted this to Lauren's IG.
WOW! Ever since Lauren posted her last video, I’ve been wondering, “how in the world do you follow “For Crying Out Loud?” It doesn’t seem possible. But the answer is, you don’t. You don’t follow. You lead. And that’s exactly what Lauren’s done here. With Jim Steinman’s haunting music as a sounding beacon, she’s led her audience down a new, dark, dangerously intoxicating path, a scary shortcut through an Edgar Allen Poe-ish landscape of hilly despair, agonizing hopelessness, and inevitable ruin - save for a sliver-thin escape route through which an angel - in Lauren’s case, with her wings on fire - might somehow “steal away!” Regarding her version of “For Crying Out Loud,” I unabashedly declared that it was the best of any Steinman song ever! With her bewitching “Edging Into Darkness,” though, she’s illuminated yet a second new path - this one not intoxicating, but enlightening. No more “best version of this” or “greatest cover of that” for me when it comes to her performances! I see now that comparing Lauren to others is no longer relevant - the question is not “has she done something that no one else has done?” (She most certainly has!) Rather, it’s “has she done what she so clearly set out to do - has she genuinely, passionately, wondrously aspired to the highest version of herself!?” And with her almost unnervingly stellar performance of Steinman’s obscure but nevertheless phenomenal “Edging Into Darkness,” do we really need to voice the answer to that question?
    Godspeed, Lauren!

This is my IG reply as well! Whoa! Where to begin?!! Not sure which part of this tremendous comment I’d like to highlight first! 🤔🤔 Thank you so much for this, Bryan! Singing, and specifically, singing Steinman, has become super important to me! I’ve developed some kind of infatuation and it’s a real passion of mine now!I’ve said it before, but your comments are extraordinarily well written and I really appreciate the time you put into writing them and for listening and watching, also!! And the “highest version of herself” - thank you!! It’s like Melissa says “There is no race more rewarding than keeping up with yourself!” Thank you for saying that and this entire comment, Bryan! 🙌☺️🤗

@@brifleming7835 (I posted a reply a couple of days ago, but for some reason it seems to have disappeared. So, I’ll try to recreate what I wrote.) Thank you very much for the kind words, Bri. It’s my absolute pleasure to comment on Lauren’s masterful performances. I note that she’s “edging” toward the 200 subscribers mark. As I’ve said before, it doesn’t matter if she has 2 subscribers or 2 million, she’s the one with the real “gift” - she inspires me and you and others to answer, from the darkness and everywhere else, “yes, we CAN hear you, Lauren!”

Thank you for introducing me to this song, Lauren. I knew that Jim had written the music for this musical but hadn't gotten around to sitting down and listening to it all properly. Just heard a few bits and pieces over the years. I think it's time I made time to listen to the whole thing. Your voice is perfect as usual!!

Wow! Thank you so much, Matt!! Ya know, I did the same thing for awhile. I had a lot from this show in my “watch later” list and just never did it. But when I finally did, I enjoyed it so, so much! I wish I could watch the whole play!! Thank you again, Matt! 🖤🦇✌️

Hi Lauren, Thanks for introducing me to another moving, kind of heart-breaking gem. *smiles* It still always moves me when I see you putting your entire self into a performance! The songs that you sing: aren't just songs that you sing, if you will. They are like passionate stories, adventures of your heart that it is traveling on. So that the songs become your songs! And with exceptions, there isn't any good reason to listen to another version of any song that you sing! *smiles* Bri

Hey, Bri! I apologize for my delayed response to you!! My absolute pleasure! It is just as you said, a moving, heart-breaking gem. I LOVE this song! :) You wrote this comment so beautifully!! I really appreciate this! I think you must be pretty passionate yourself to see it in the videos! Pretty cool!! I really love to read your comments. Thank you so much for them! Happy New Year!!

I apologize to you, Lauren, for not replying to your note, sooner. I sometimes think that my comments on your singing may seem that they are just: over the top. But yes, I am a passionate guy who appreciates passion. I think that people miss so much when they don't connect with the passion that is inside of them. I do think that we all have passion inside of us. But it may be suppress for what ever reason. I do go to Church services and I observe people when there is music playing. And I can't understand why most people just sit there, without tapping their feet or their fingers, or swaying to the music. I feel that they aren't really deeply connecting with the songs or music! So, when I watch singers/entertainers like you who are gifted with a superb voice, and aren't afraid to fully express your passion: it touches me so deeply! Smiles* Bri
      Happy new year, Lauren!

Hey Lauren. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing this. It was a great and moving performance of a song I had never heard before! There was a passage that reminded me of Making Love out of Nothing At All towards the end, so while it was new to me, it was still familiar. Thank you!
