What’s with the constant praise for this man? He was the first star for the ufc, but besides jiu jitsu the guy can’t fight at all. he is no where near an ultimate fighter. That 18 year old ufc fighter would beat the prime Gracie in mma. Quite convincingly. Gracie was a decent fighter, but people are putting him beside the names of chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, Jon jones etc when in reality he wasn’t that good. Mma was never his craft, but rather jiu jitsu. Ironic considering he’s the pioneer of the entire ufc but that’s the truth. Besides being the first champion and being Gracie, he is genuinely nothing special. Wasn’t his last fight sketchy too? Dude had to knee or kick ken shamrock in the nuts to secure that “tko”. Royce probably sensed the difference in the cage between that time and the last time he fought back in 2007. Out of his prime and a very limited fighter. Took the easy way out for a win and didn’t get a no contest or DQ just simply because he’s Royce Gracie. I respect what he’s done, but what he’s done. Not for something he hasn’t done. Stop putting this man on a pedestal he doesn’t belong when there’s people in king of the cage that can rip him apart

There’s way to many ufc fans who hates wrestling and grappling.
Mma is more than just striking, but I guess that’s difficult to know when they never train.
There are way more grapplers and wrestlers that make the fights more entertaining. DC Islam come to mind

Most people have never seen a fight beyond movies or a sanctioned match. He is right, in a fight his job is not to entertain. He doesnt need to get punched in the face to entertiain you. His job is to win and win in a condition to where he can go home take care of his family and be healthy enough to fight another day.

But the thing it IS an art gallery - its an art. It’s supposed to be entertaining, that’s why they can make money off of it and can make it their way of making a living. That said, I do think that Khabib is one of the more entertaining fighters to watch. Highly skilled grapplers like that are a privilege to witness.

The reason some people found his fighting boring wasn't his wrestling but rather his total domination resulting in a complete one sided match which may make it boring. They can't say that, so they blame it on his wrestling. There are standup fights which are even more boring at times which nobody is pushing
