Fluffy does gunpla
Good stuff my man, makes me want to get into gunpla!! Keep the videos coming!
"if I get up you are going in the cage!" same way I get my wife to leave me in peace
Gotta oil it up, bro. And for Gundam's sake, don't use 'em on photo etch! And after you make your first cuts and the piece is off, you don't go right to sanding. You make a second cut. Many times, that's all you need. It's because apllying the cutting force stresses the nearby plastic. This is magnified by the sprue, pushing and pulling on the pice as the plastic at the cut is deformed. The two cuts minimizes thise stressed. It isn't so much to minimize nubs, which it does help with, but to prevent those white stress marks on the plastic. If there is anything visible after the trimming, then you sand. You get much better looking straight builds that way, and smoother surfaces for painted kits.
Sorry, I been at this hobby a long time.
That's all I do, tamiya nippers to get the parts off, then an Xacto knife to cut the excess plastic off. Not the most clean and perfect looking buuuuuttttttt...I'm not professional with it. Just love building gunpla
Helpful advice, boutta build my rg nu-gundam
Hey gundam, thank you for the new channel!! I havent watched gunpla videos since rrobbert182 (mispelt most likely) glad youre giving us pointers
I got back into Gunpla in January. By got back into I mean I've built at least 1 kit a week since January 4th. I plan on getting into painting and custom jobs as well as dioramas.
Lots of fun to watch thanks Gundam.
Sweet, quite happy about this and Fluffy wants all the attention.
Edit: Been really wanting to build these kinds of things for awhile but didnt really know what I needed so this alone is giving me quite a bit of info.
Maybe I'll do a video on it.
@@ItsAGunpla that'd be amazing.
Maybe there should be a channel of Billy called Billy's Thirst reviews lol
lmfao!
@@ItsAGundam my god, things are getting hotter than Billy's excessive fapping
Great breakdown and comparison. Those God Hand cut amazingly well.!
I built models when I was young, used all kinds of tools to cut from the rack.
After a two decade hiatus coronavirus hit and I took a stab at model building again. Using some Doctor Coil tools laying around my place and a Testor razor knife they worked well. I did all of the cuts from the plastic racks with the side cutter nipper dohickies. Then using one side of the scissors and if needed the razor knife to smooth the uneven spots.
Great video bro! Thank you!
Damn, I love this video. Your so real bro, keep up the good work!. Nice Sazabi btw, mine is still screaming at my to paint it
I've used the scissors shown at the start for years, they have the yellow and grey grips. They're excellent for thin flimsy material as they have a really sharp cut where a generic pair will just mash it and leave a jagged edge.
woah man, this really makes me want to get into gunpla. I've spent way too much time on Warhammer, so hopefully the transition won't be too hard haha
Same here man. I build 40k for the past few years and I love it but the simplicity and enginuity of gunpla kits are fantastic. Can't speak for MG and RG but my 3 months into gunpla and 3 MGs and 2 PGs and I'm loving every piece of it.
This is a good vid since I’ve used toenail clippers for my first build and already have my Zeta incoming.
Regular or not I’m just glad to be getting gunpla videos lol
Just started, and for my first kit I used an exacto blade to cut everything out with. No nippers or sanding needed
Great seeing you back on the reviewer chair brother
Waterbased = Thin Coats
Lacquer = Wet Coat
Been trying them out along with GreenStuff worlds Chameleon line, both will get the job done if you have the spray discipline and a good clear coat after it dried for a good few hours.
Tho I've started testing out some lacquer ones from Gaia, E7, Modo and Spazstix and really managed to get some of those to really pop.
Hey, ItsAGundam, I didn't know you were into building Gunpla. I just discovered your channel and thanks for the review. Looks like I'll get the Godhand instead of the GundamPlanet or Tamiya NIppers.
Finding nippers was a pain in the butt because the name "nippers" is a bit... well... let's say it isn't easy to ask for them in a store, and google sends the geshtopo after you if you search for it.
Anyway, my nippers are called "Diagonal Cutting Pliers" from a company called "Army Painter" for $13.95 on amazon. Really comfortable, opens back up when you clip with them, and they are sharp and durable.
Anyway, glad to see this new channel man! I don't paint Gunpla, but this stuff overlaps really well with the stuff I DO paint, so I appreciate it :)
Godhands are A+ Tier because of the one edge cut and the screw that you can adjust to make the cut as smooth as possible.
I personally like my Xuron 410 Micro Shear flush cutters. I use them for Gunpla, Metal Earth, and all kinds of other model types. I’ve used mine for a couple of years, and the spring’s not the greatest anymore. They’re incredibly thin, too, and can get in really tight spots. The handles are super-comfortable, too! They’re also a third of the price of any of those, and they’re actually made in the US still.
I have been using the same nippers for years I got them in taymaia builder starter pack came with the nippers a pair tweezers two screwdrivers and a file cost me 15 bucks and they been working great
Thanks just started with Gunpla and was wondering about nippers.
@SandSticks I use emery cloth when I'm working on equipment because it isn't sand paper and it doesn't leave anything behind. When working on minis (28mm miniatures) I don't care so I use files or sand paper. Models, I could see how it might make a difference. Just something to think about.
Good review, I've been thinking of buying godhand nippers but its like 30x the price of current cheap nipper (2,900++ php for godhand vs. 350php for the cheap nippers)
Liking the hobby videos Gundam!
Hey Gundam. I have only cut photoetch with a #17 X-acto blade against a piece of ceramic tile (tile from local hardware store, about sixty cents).
I love the grip and spring on the tamiya alpha, wish godhand would make them like that.
When I was a wee lad, I did the CHAD hand pull and twist method.
As a fellow gunpla builder, ur assessment of the gp nipper and the gh nipper is fairly accurate. I will say though that i use the gp nipper as the work horse and then come in with the gh nipper.
As for the nipper itself from gp, maybe it is just yours as i dont see the same problem that u r describing.
Overall good video on the different types of nippers.
Extremely skeptical of godhands but newtype has some so I tried them today and man they are actually really good. Never had good nippers besides decent citadel's but these are another tier. Citadel's still work great for sprue removal.
I have the Tamiya nippers, I've had them for a few years and...those bad bois are still going strong. I recently bought a Whetstone to sharpen my kitchen knives. I figured I'd try the whetstone on my nippers......NOTICABLE difference. It was somewhat jarring. lol. The Tamiya were back to day 1 status. lol.
I got on my birthday the 0083 gundam ver 1 kou uraki. I want to set it in a maintenance style diorama.
If you manage to get a nice set of toenail clippers and you can sharpen them you can get a very clean cut when you are cleaning the nubs. Since they usually curve they are also great for nubs around round parts like the cone thruster parts.
your worn nippers can be re sharpened and there are toenail clippers that are shaped like nippers that are very durable ( i use them for wire cutting and splicing)
Haha you should have left the cat moaning, I laughed my ass off, while using my own TAMIYA cutter, which I actually love.
I have the Gundam Planet nippers. Mine didn't lock up on a nip and the cut was also damn smooth. When they were newer, I actually prefer them over my Godhand Ultimate. My guess is that quality varies unfortunately.
The first ever Gundam I built was Wing Gundam when I was around 11 years old. That was in 2001. Good times man.
Thanks my dude.
You've got a great set of nippers Gundam. I know it's a lame joke by I felt I had to, love your stuff brother.
I am fine with the Tamiya Sharp Pointed Side Cutters, and Tamiya Sharp Pointed Side Cutter (Slim Type).
I suggest those as their high quality and not _that_ expensive.
As a general rule of thumb, it's important to *never* cut off parts from the super thick parts.
Just cut a little bit away from the gate, cut, and then get a sharp hobby knife (like Tamiya Modeler Knife Pro) to cut off the excess bits little by little, or to just file it off with sand paper or a metal file.
The reason being is so that you minimize the odds of cutting into the actual part.
The God Hand ones are great, but their tips can chip easily if you're not careful and replacing or getting them repaired can get costly.
Therefore, the Tamiya ones are the best choice overall.
I agree that the Tamiya and God Hand ones are a much better choice than the Gundam Planet ones.
@xxnike629xx So nice of giving advices coming from you, who haven't built a kit since 2011. ;D
I'm sure the one you're giving advices on is a much better builder than you, who spends his time stacking boxes and spamming wishlists instead.
"If I get up you're going in the cage" 🤣🤣
Shit, I'm a couple days late. Glad to see you made a channel for this. You put in the effort. Clearly enjoy it. Most of the channels for gunpla are, sort of...shit. Here I can come for the tips and stay for the laughs. Keep'em coming.
Hmm, I expected you to start glowing when you picked up the God Hand. Or maybe a beam of light to erupt from somewhere and illuminate you. Pity. Great vid though!
Hey gundam I'm a big fan and live on the CT NY border all my friends gave up motorcycles and heard you talking about yours, if you ever wanna yam some mountain roads let me know!
How about a video about the basics of gunpla "alagundam", for all of us who didn't even know that was a thing and are starting to feel interested? Like all the gear you need, not just nippers, cost, space, the fun part of gunpla, the shitty part, etc...
Hmmmm, I use a LOT of space, because I live alone. But it's an idea.
In Australia, we have a brand of nippers made by Hobbyco which are almost like the godhands
Xuron flush cutters are really good too and cost like $7
Perfectly Gundam.
get your hands on a pair of the USAgundam store brand nippers they are freaking amazing.
Nippers come in all shapes and sizes. (I was trying to come up with something funny to write with the term "Nipper Slipper" but couldn't find one - feel free to help out)
That's the problem, the nipper doesn't slip, it sticks.
Man I really should get some nippers I have been using a razor blade and ever now and then the piece I am cutting out goes flying across the room.
Gotta love fluffy
I'm thinking of picking up a God Hand and those 30 Minute Missions boys
you mean 30 minute sisters, right? a 30 minute boys would be a weird fever dream though
@Jonah Abenhaim ah, pretend there was a comma after "Missions" lol. Thank you for making me realize there's a girls line. Pretty cute
did anyone have a chance to compare those nipper with Wave or Dspiae nipper
Good to know about those Gundam Planet nippers. I'm going to avoid those. Made me glad I purchased a pair of those God Hand nippers.
Look for “hakko chp micro cutter” on Amazon. They are Italian made, and only $5 each. I get them in sets of 5... and have only ever used one of them.
I was looking, only found ones for about 48 euros
are they designed to cut through model kit trays?
Probably could remove the magnet that causes it to stick close.
Yes.
Silly ItsAGunpla, the best of the best use their teeth to cut out the parts.
They have finger nail nippers that work great. Sure beats the expensive ass stuff you got lol
I use these: www.aventools.com/product/tungsten-carbide-ovalhead-cutter-flush/ They're overkill probably.. I noticed that the small 11 mm blade is still too big.. I might try something even smaller, 80 HRC is probably way too durable for cutting plastic.
Thank u for the help i want to collect gundams
Here I am still using the cheap $4 taiwanese nippers I've been using for 7 years
I just got some nips from my snap-on guy. They work just as good and lifetime warranty lol 😆
My GP nippers stick, too. I need to step up
Man i need to change to newer nipper, I've been using the same nipper for over 10 years.
I've been using Tamiya nippers for nearly forever, and when I saw Gundam's set I realized Tamiya probably doesn't even make the Tamiya nippers I still have.
@@afelias I also use Tamiya nipper, I think it made specially for the mini 4wd model kit. It's light and the blade last for so long
the tamiya nippers are like 26 bucks on Amazon.
@@ItsAGunpla lol my nippers came from a Tamiya "Basic Tool Set" that cost me like five bucks maybe ten years ago.
Few people i know from a gunpla group in facebook had their godhands break
had no idea
I wondered why this channel was recommended and then I heard the accent and saw the Chihuahua.
Go to Walmart where the hobby sewing and plastic jewelry is. You can get great Nippers for like 6$ and they work just as well.
Fuck paying 30$ because it says Tamiya and it comes in First Class Air from Japan!
I want to get God Hand but I only find it at like 100-140 Euros...
7:35 BELT TIME!!!
My Godhands broke on a relatively thin part. =(
I DIY MY NIPPER , SHARP THEM ,THIN THEM , TOTALLY CUSTOM ! MY TOOL AND MY HAND IS GOD.
Dont expect things to be regular here...
Remember guys, just the tip means just the tip!!!
Just beige watch this channel.... No Regrets
I ordered the Tamiya..... but now Im wishing Id ordered the godhand.... coulda been worse though! Glad I didnt get THOSE ones! :-D
Next time Gamesworkshop Nippers
More Fluffy.
Nephew Bumblefuck
You got a bad set. Mine works like a charm send it back!
Just 5 kits? Step up yo game Gundam !! Jk
Also Twochi wants to help you with your new channel 🐕
Knipex snips
I can vouch for godhands , they are very fragile .
Just got the god hands they are great. Thanks for the code at newtypeHQ
Fluffee! >:( Put da lotion da the basket! Or else yur going in yur cage! Now back to nipping gunpla :))
Lol, total chic here, but I haaave to...I cant help it, and you can hate me, lol, but...speaking of nail clippers, ehhem, those are pretty long nails you have there, Gundam!!.... =) Sorry, I had to...Hands, its my 'thing'.....love your chnls though!!! I used to do car model bldg, lol, but I'm sure that is pretty different from you are doing here. I LOVE painting though, and coloring. But, not those gay adult coloring books with silly pics of cats and shit, I like the adult coloring books with cute, smiling cartoon pics in-between phrases like "Kindly Go Fuck Yourself" or funky designs with the word Cocksucker in the middle, LOL! When I have an 'anger episode' , lol, I color someone a pretty picture ;) Lol! Anyway, I seen your finished work so I had to come see the process.
There's something wrong with your gp nippers. Neither mine or my brothers stick closed.
I was going to post a similar comment. Mine don't stick like that at all, they're the most springy of my collection in fact.
Free shipping LOLOL!
SKIP TO 0:33 IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WASTE 30 SECONDS OF YOUR LIFE ON A DOG CHIRPING
Jesus christ man your cat is pissed off at something.
... ok. If you're spending over $20 on nippers you're wasting your money lol. Xuron - 2175ET Professional Sprue Cutter is all you need. $17.
What model Tamiya nippers? Those gundamplanet nippers are faulty, common issue they've got bad quality control
Man, these feel like zen videos and I am not even into Gundam building. The main channel is becoming a sludge factory of pumping out 10 negative game drama videos a minute. UA-cam is on the metabolic self-destruction scheme these days.
Ugh!
Get god hands and never look back is what I tell all new builders. I have 2 godhands, tamiya, gundam planet and xuron. Tamiya for cutting gates and god hand for the actual clean cut.
Xuron sucks donkey nuts and gundam planet is just meh
