Thank you so much Lucy I really really love ❤️ this Vlog. I’m not keen on the puff sleeves, but, that vogue pattern at the end, was just up my street. And the wrap skirt, is really really stunning and gorgeous too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
This was such a useful video and utilised today in the charity shops and bought some patterns and fabric to reflect the trends. Thanks, really firing my yen for sewing.
Great pics! You just reminded me that I have the Orla pattern tucked away somewhere! I need to find that :) I have already joined the sweater/cardigan trend and it is fantastic for showing off dresses and blouses! Thanks for pointing out the good value in that McCalls pattern...I don't look enough at the Big 4, so I always appreciate how you draw my attention to them...especially bc they are quite accessible here in Canada! Take care!
Great video, but I would love it if you included / highlighted patterns that do larger cup sizes. You inspire me but I know most of the patterns wouldn't fit me.
Thanks Yvonne, I will try and see if I can, in the meantime you might like to look at the Cashmerette patterns which run from a C to a H cup and there are also some of the big 4 patterns on our site which come with cup sizes. Here's the link to Cashmerette www.sewessential.co.uk/sewing-patterns/shop-sewing-patterns-by-brand/indie-sewing-patterns?brand=546
I like the colour of your cardigan, did you make it? Great ideas for new makes, makes me want to sew something - I quite like the blouse with baloon sleeves and your green fabric with white flowers was a good choice.
No I didn't make it, it was from 'and other stories' they have some really nice chunky modern cardigans. I wish I could knit myself one, but that is a skill I haven't learned yet. I love that green fabric too, I really want to make a lovely blouse in it and think that McCalls pattern in the green fabric may well be next up on my sewing table.
@@SewEssential thanks Lucy. A propos knitting - I just bought a chunky knit fabric and made a jumper. A lot quicker than knitting. Next time I'll try a cardigan.
I've seen lots of short people look fab in them, look up @sewvee on Instagram, she is very petite but makes loads of maxi dresses and skirts and looks wonderful in them.
Is SSHA_0009 the Teal (Petrol) Okeo tex certified fabric you mentioned at the same time as the Hudson pants? I’m not sure I’ve ordered the right material as I couldn’t see that one in your list below the video? Both arrived today but the Hudson pattern says it recommends at least 25% stretch, your website says the pattern recommends at least 40% stretch and the fabric I’ve ordered has none? Yet it sits under the stretch Jersey section online? If there was another section I should have been looking in please can you give me the product code to go straight to the right fabric? I love the fabric so I’m sure I’ll make something else with it but I wanted to let you know I’m a little confused in case anyone else is, and a little frustrated that I ordered ‘trouser length quantities of something I will now probably turn into a top of some kind. But just to say again it really is beautiful fabric. Best wishes, C
Hi Candice, yes it is the correct fabric and is actually fine for making the Hudson pants, my MIL has brought some into work today that she made in it and I made a pair last year in a fabric that was the same stretch wise. Apologies for any confusion. If you wanted to be extra cautious you could always measure the pattern pieces and test against the fabric and your body, but they worked out really well for both of us. I hope that helps, but if you have any other concerns or queries please email us on sales@sewessential.co.uk because I'm not very quick at responding on here, but the inbox is manned 9-5 Monday to Friday.
@@SewEssential thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I will give them a go in that fabric but might size up to make sure they’re not too tight. It is good to know your MIL has had success with this pattern / fabric. It really is beautiful! 😊
Yes I love a pattern with a lot of different makes - it is so worth the money you spend on it
Definitely and lovely to come back to again and again.
Thanks Lucy. Inspiratonal as ever. Great ideas and advice. Like all the patterns.

I'm so pleased to hear that, even making these videos makes me want to sew so I'm glad they do the same for you.
