- Hi everyone,
Well, it's been an interesting past few weeks weather wise with a lot of rain, wind and even more rain, so most of the gardening we've managed to do has been under cover in the grow houses and polytunnel, which is the focus of this video today, showing how we're growing food and colour.
00:00 Welcome back
01:00 Grow tunnel with tomatoes, mildewed courgettes and plenty more
10:50 Glasshouse with peppers, more tomatoes and a plant with attitude
13:50 Greenhouse with grapes, dahlias and salad potatoes
16:00 Thanks for watching
Thanks as always for watching, do leave a comment and of course like and subscribe to catch our updates on all things gardening.
All the best for now,

Cheers Hugh looking good 👍
Thanks Graham, keep well there buddy 😊👌🏻🍅🍅
Thoroughly enjoyed touring your grow houses!👍👍👍
Great to have these tours to look back on over the winter months Susie 😊👍🏻👌🏻
Everything looking great there Hugh! Your tomatoes look very happy in the greenhouse.
Thanks John, tomates are particularly happy especially with the weather outdoors! All the best there, Hugh 🙂👍🏻
It's absolutely beautiful. I'm having so much fun with mine. It's colorfully fine.
I like the smell of marigolds..I was weeding out my garden today and the smell of wild tall achillea is wonderful. Keeps mosquitoes away. We used to play in the fields of it as kids and never got bit.
Oh good tip about the Achille Molly didn't realise that! Thanks, isn't it a great time of year with the plants, really enjoying all the goings on here. All the best there Molly, Hugh 😊👌🏻🍅🍅
@@HortiHugo good morning! And the root of the shorter version are used for toothache. ❤️
French Marigold remind me of my Gramps basement, so i love it.
We've been using the clips on cucumbers andvpepper plants.
Love the one Truss trial, challenge accepted 😂👍
POTS IN POTS !! hold my beer, challenge accepted lol, Ive got one going, he's name Hugo-lets-goooo 😂

Jason and Colleen 🌱🤞👍🤣👍👍👍
Lol... pots in pots... 'Hugo de pots' as we say in these parts 😁😅 Yes, the one truss is interesting, if we get any sort of heat at all I think we'll be rock'n'rolling 😁🍅🍅 All the best there, Hugh 😎😎
I leave my tomatoes to grow and grow 😅 😅 nothing like growing the tallest cherry tomato plant ever and enjoying it hang over amd touch your head as you walk past! You poly tunnel is fantastic everything looks so healthy! 🌿🌱
Yes - some of our tallest are at the hanging stage now, very wonderful! All the best there
Hi Hugh I have no idea the weight of my tomatoes, they're in my daughter's mouth before I can weigh them.😂 I'd just cut off all the courgette leaves that have mildew and give it a good feed. Toms are looking great and I need more flowers in my greenhouse!👍🤠
Hi Nick, yes, it's so tempting to eat the tomatoes isn't it 😆😆 The courgettes have been super this year, think we have over 8kg off them in the freezer already, so anything else they produce is bonus. All the best there, Hugh
For the powdery mildew spray the leaves with a mix of 50/50 milk and water.
Yes, have tried that mix a few times in the past CM and can work well. Honestly I think these are on their way out, they've given so much already. All the best there, Hugh 🙂👍🏻
Hello Hugh, Always nice to see one of your videos for the colourful display of flowers, you always seem to have a good balance, Loving the petunias in particular.
I sowed some petunia seeds earlier in the year & got zero germination from them, In fact I had quite a few failures of tomatoes & flowers, a couple were due to old seeds though.
Arrgghh the wet weather has been terrible since the beginning of July here in Lancashire, I hope we get some more warm sunny weather to ripen bell peppers & tomatoes.
Thanks for the video Hugh.
Hello Lancs, yes hasn't the weather just been so hard on the plants - hope we get some sort of heat soon. Did you buy some plants instead when seeds didn't germinate? That's the good thing about doing the seed earlier, if they don't work out there's always other options. Thanks, yes we do enjoy getting that balance of food and flowers.
All the best there, Hugh
@@HortiHugo Hi Hugh, Yes I ended up having to buy some bedding plants for the hanging baskets & containers on the decking.
I've had a good clear out of my old seeds & have already ordered lots for next season.
I 😂😂 must admit I can’t stand the smell of tomato 🍅 leaves 🍃 but I’ve never smelled marigold leaves 🍃. I never weigh my harvests I don’t know why I just never worried about it. Holy crap Hugh that is huge 😮. Do you spray the powdery mildew with milky water? Everything looks fab Hugh and the colourful flowers are a beautiful addition. Send us your rain 🌧️, happy gardening, Ali 🌞🥵🥵🇨🇦
Yes, really enjoy the waft of the marigold leaves for some reason 😅😅 haven't used the milky water this year, have done in the past with mixed results 🙂👍🏻 Hope you get plenty of rain soon Ali, Hugh 🙂🌧️👍🏻
