The Husband volunteer story: I would be just as upset about missing my child's first major sporting event to help my spouse's sibling. That response would have sent me over the edge. Communication classes for everyone though
On the topic of names: I used to be a school photographer and I saw some WILD names in my two years in that field. The most notable Twin girls named Riot and Rebel (which is sick and I love it) Twin boys with the EXACT same name and both their first name and last name were first names I think it was like Jacob Kyle or something like that. The one that floored me and elicited a verbal “poor kid” from me: 17. For that husband that won’t apologize, you are always gonna lose with small kids, that was super arrogant to think you could easily do your wife’s job.
56:55 I will never forget my first time at a Baseball game as a kid with my dad. That they robbed that experience from him is a whole other level of bad choices to me. I feel bad for that man.
The thing with him requesting that the money come out of the brothers inheritance is if it doesn't come out of the brother share the inheritance, it's taken away from the total inheritance. That means he's basically paying himself back (half) and not actually getting any money from the brother.
I understood it as the parents taking that money out to “pay themselves back” in the moment and like stating that the brother gets 32k less than any other child when the unfortunate time comes to get the money. For example, my grandparents have accounts set up for each family member that will for sure go to them and then anything not in those accounts gets split up between everyone. So if anything he’d possibly be getting 32k twice till all is said and done.
The husband working from home story: He’s complaining that the wife didn’t help him out, but where is he to help her out when this stuff happens to her? He’s out the house so she had to figure out how to manage when no one is there. Not being able to see the other side and instead getting mad because she’s not helping is CRAZY.
To be fair most names have meaning that sound better in one language or another, but yes in Spanish we have names like Dolores (pains), Angustias (anguish), Soledad (loneliness), Delgadina (thin), Esperanza (hope). They are not that common anymore as the people have stopped using them so they will disappear as the oldest generations go.
There’s an old lady at the nursing home I work at and her name plate says Esperanza, but recently she’s been telling people to call her Hope. I wasn’t sure why, I thought maybe she just likes that name better. Good to know they mean the same thing lol!
@gays4wumbology396 I forgot another one Remedios (remedies), Caridad (charity), Mercedes, these one has different meanings, but disposition could be one, like "I'm at your will= estoy a su merced". I know it sounds weird as a name but it is very common, specially in Spain. And all of these there's a least a Saint or a Virginia with that name
Most of those names are based on Virgin Mary images or art. For example La Virgen del Socorro, La Virgen de los Remedios, La Virgen de Guadalupe are very famous images in catholicism. Basically everyone used to name their daughters after the virgin mary AKA "Maria" but to to tell them apart they would add like other middle names like Guadalupe, Dolores, Soccorro, Esperanza, based on the title of a Virgin Mary art piece.
3:35 Husker was hiding in plain sight! It threw me off seeing claudia scratching the couch but it was husker the entire time!!! 😭 amazing podcast as always!!❤
On the name thing: i like to joke that my little cousin owes my Dad a life debt for stopping guess mom from naming him Jack Colby by pointing out that anytime his name was printed in "Surname, First Name" format it would be "Colby, Jack". She almost accidentally named him after CHEESE 😂😭
As a wife, I would have assumed my husband had had a bad day having to pack and move other people's stuff and miss out on fun. I also wouldn't have volunteered him. I would have asked if he was down to that.
When my husband and I were dating, his friend asked us to help him move. I told them they needed to be packed and ready to go because we would only take their boxed crap from a to b. We get there and the hag girlfriend didn't even have one box packed. I said they had 1 hour to get their stuff in order because we aren't packing their crap. So they had to haul butt. I said, you do NOT do this to people. You want to borrow MY truck to help you move (yep MY truck...I still have it) then not have your crap together? Nope.
In the story about the husband who thought his wife's job was easy and couldn't handle the kids for one day. She's better than him at earning an income as well. She said she only works about 3 hours a day, but earns about 1/3 of the income, but he takes 12 hours to earn the other 2/3rds. Her effective hourly rate is double his.

Sam "God spent extra time on Palo" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 As for the husband moving the brothers girlfriend. My husband must be just a guy cause he would do that if I asked without any argument. He looks at my family as his and my friends as his. He mows my best friend, who is a single moms yard weekly..and no, they aren't having an affair, lol. If he doesn't do it, my daughter will. The only thing he might be upset about is if it was the Super Bowl and his team was playing. My family knows him well enough that they wouldn't ask hahaha cause they already know the answer. We want our kids to have special moments with each of us separately. He has taken my kids to basketball games and football games. He even took my three girls to drag con. All of these without me. If I was upset about something, I wouldn't take the joy from my child cause it wasn't their fault. We have been married 23 years and pick our battles differently, I suppose. Maybe it would be different if he wasn't close to my family and friends. I think they like him better than me. lol, his sister and I are very close. 🤷♀️
The cameos is so fucking funny I love this pod so so much we get music, acting, comedy, seriousness, love between Brandon and Madi, mamma g and Sam all the cohost love everyone involved
I had a classmate that named her son Sir Majesty Savion. This is his first name. In their family all the siblings get to give the baby a name. So he has 4 middle names.
Well about the names in Spanish, there is no such thing as naming the baby depending on how the mother was having a lot of pain. There is a religious reason to it. Yes "Socorro" means like "Help" but it is not based on the mother's suffering during labor.
Every time I hear the name "Potpourri/Popuri" I think of the Harvest Moon character (literally a girl who lives on a chicken farm who sells you said farm animals + accessories.) Also y'all have no idea how out-there Thai nicknames can be lol. They're usually picked by something the Mother likes and so many people just have random English words as nicknames like North, Bubble, Earth, or even Civic
Funny story about psychics: my mother completed suicide in 2016, funnily only a week or two after she did so her psychic was trying to set up their next appointment with my mother. My dad, big sibling, and I all had a good laugh about it and still do 8 years later 🤣
It's not that the movies were too long, it's the difference in generations. These were people who got up, went to work, came home to dinner on the table, and if they were lucky enough to have a radio, they would sit around and listen to their favorite show. Then they would get up and do it all over again. You come from a generation that must be entertained within the first five to ten seconds, you swipe to the next, then the next, and so on. It's not a dig at anyone, it's just the truth.
Everything u stated is still true, except dinner isn't on the table when I get home after working 12 hours I have to then make myself dinner before going to bed for work tomoro... and instead of a radio it's my phone... that's literally the only difference 😂 rose colored glasses b
@@drewhempwood2113I believe the point they were making and you may have overlooked is for the older generation that list was everything there was for them and yes this new “me being apart of it” generation has those same things an more to entertain so it’s natural that what was seen as great cinema back then may not be seen as such by the newer generation because they are 2 vastly different worlds with different expectations none better or worse
@@teigenromero4095 but it dosnt make sense because in reality people still watch plenty of films and shows that aren't jam packed with action and even the oldest cinema had action films which were filled with just physical comedy or stunt clips on end. If thts the point they're making then it's even more dubious
Yeah she found Paolo and asked him if he would pay for her ticket back to the states, and she could stay with him for a few weeks, and Paolo was like... "Hell no". I get a new American girl every other night, why would I pay extra for a disloyal woman? Then she realized she's not all that.
With the name change, her parents are being unreasonable. You name your child a name that they are ridiculed for and you make it about you. The parents are being overly dramatic and controlling. They seem like very unreasonable people. I can only imagine a political conversation would go off the rails( this is something, I don't have with people).
For the name story: OP is definitely not the asshole for changing her name, but that’s not really what people (besides her parents) have been calling her an asshole for, and she points it out herself. It’s the timing that’s an issue. She knew they’d be a fallout, and she could’ve guessed that so close to her wedding, that’d be a huge thing. That it would affect others, like her sister. She’s not a mean spirited asshole, surely a mistake born out of fear of her parents’ reaction, but she definitely could’ve chosen a kinder time for everyone, her included. Especially since at first she says she had no choice since she *has* to use her full name at her wedding and then goes on to admit that actually she could’ve not. Her parents are still the AH tho.
For the money story: I don’t think it’s wrong of OP to dictate how the parents will ensure they don’t get cheated either. If the brother is the kind that would try that with his sibling, I wouldn’t put it past him to try it shamelessly with the parent either. At some point you gotta really teach him he can’t get away with it, and even if they are adults the parents can still people pleaser or the kind that couldn’t say no to their son. It’s not wrong or going too far to try and protect them from that. Actually since they’re adults they could’ve said no to OP if they didn’t think that was fair, but they didn’t. Plus if the parents did decide to pay it from their own pocket, that’s gonna take from his inheritance too.
In the first story, the boyfriend be like "Girrrl, you need to find yourself AND fund yourself"

As to the story with the dad with a 4 year old and the moving: as far as I'm concerned when I got there and there was no uhaul I would have got out and asked them about it and at that point if they didnt have one then the deal was they get a u haul and I help them move the way I see it they broke the deal first and after I saw that she didnt have everything ready I would have told them that as soon as they had a uhaul and everything packed to let me know and if I had time I'd still help them move but that's it and if she volunteered me in the first place I'd have never went without her she volunteered us so I would see it as she has to be there kid or no kid
Anyone else get an ad for a psychic reading right after that story? Timing was insane 😂😭
Is that a little Yorkie-type thing named Husky?? That's definitely better than a chihuahua called Ripper.
I went to high school with brothers named Lemonjello (le-mohn-jeh-low) and Orangejello (or-ahn-jeh-low)
Why does everyone say this when the name conversation comes up? I call bs
@@briannasusette RIGHT! EVERY name conversation! I was waiting for this comment because I knew it was coming.
Sam "God spent extra time on Palo" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
As for the husband moving the brothers girlfriend.
I want maddie to read audiobooks or something i could literally fall asleep listening to her read
The cameos is so fucking funny I love this pod so so much we get music, acting, comedy, seriousness, love between Brandon and Madi, mamma g and Sam all the cohost love everyone involved
I thought it’s actually illegal to put numbers in your child’s name so surely Elon and Grimes had to change the kid’s name.
41:46 I wasn't watching, just listening and became incredible confused and concerned someone was drinking like that. Only to look up and see Husker!
When she said find her self I knew it had to be a man
What is this painting behind you guys? I happen to look at my screen and there are angry eyes next to Brandon! 😆
Lol it's sj looking up.
I think a person has every right to choose their own moniker after adulthood.
as an Iowan i am loving this iowa slander 😂
To join the name convo, I knew a girl in high school who’s younger sister’s name was Abcde, pronounced “abb - seh - dee” and thats just sinful 😂
Okay, but Al Paul Chris (apple chrisp) would be a dope name for a drag king
Socorro, Remedios, Dolores, etc those names are about different advocations or representations of Virgin Mary, old school names.
First story. Translation, I wanna cheat.
I watched an episode of John Oliver talk about Pig Butchering! It's wild and actually really sad.
Do not subject Claudia to The Breakfast Club. That movie is hot garbage 😂
It's a Wonderful Life? Classic!
Old movies are the best.
If you in any, way, shape, or form believe people have magical psychic powers then you are already not worth anyone’s time.
Yeah she found Paolo and asked him if he would pay for her ticket back to the states, and she could stay with him for a few weeks, and Paolo was like... "Hell no". I get a new American girl every other night, why would I pay extra for a disloyal woman? Then she realized she's not all that.
just in time.🙂↕️❤️
With the name change, her parents are being unreasonable. You name your child a name that they are ridiculed for and you make it about you. The parents are being overly dramatic and controlling. They seem like very unreasonable people. I can only imagine a political conversation would go off the rails( this is something, I don't have with people).
I changed my name and told no one for almost 6 years. I think it’s common.
I've never heard the term "Roma" used instead of "Romani".
The sad scooter 😂
For the name story:
OP is definitely not the asshole for changing her name, but that’s not really what people (besides her parents) have been calling her an asshole for, and she points it out herself.
For the money story:
I don’t think it’s wrong of OP to dictate how the parents will ensure they don’t get cheated either.
Nah, I think "psychic vibrator" is the perfect term for whatever sense picks of psychic vibrations.
Two can play that game is now on Netflix Sam and I will be watching it for sure, it was one of my favorite movies growing up 😂😂
