The Tangkhul tribe is one of many the many Naga tribes of Manipur and Nagaland, India. One of the ways I want to teach Susan my language is through song and I wanted to start with this song, Ramkazat Iwui Mirin by Raikhan, a classic Tangkhul song I grew up listening to. The song is about someone who leaves home without any money and travels. He looks out at the mountains in the Tangkhul area of Manipur and sees villages that aren't his own, which makes him miss his own village. Even though he's traveling and away from home, he is able to make new friends and be happy. This song felt relevant to Susan and me because we are also away from home but able to make new friends and be happy, but at the same time, we miss our homes and our families.

How easy it is for us to go and settle elsewhere and forget about our origin. We adapt to something advanced very quickly, but adapting to a culture and learning about a culture that is not known to the rest of the world is indeed challenging. Tangkhul is a very small tribe among the nagas with most of the population in the hills of Manipur, which is a state in the overlooked northeast india, a third world country. How you learnt and sang the song so beautifully? That means a lot. How you both look into one another's eyes so deeply tells us why you mam are so enthusiastic in learning about our culture. Loved the song, loved the chemistry. And amei worchihan though i do not know you in person, i'm really proud of you. Ningyang ungnayei apreiva li chiyaya leishida imaram tui tammidakhalei chi.
