A mans self esteem is one of the few things that can stop the rod from working. But never feel ashamed of stuff not working cause as a man my self I can tell you that thing does what it wants. You are just along for the ride.
Yeah but I understand why Homer feels the way he does. It SUCKS when you’re looked down upon as the most useless employee so you’re literal ONLY job is to do nothing. Sure you still get fully paid but that doesn’t change the hurt that comes to your pride
It's funny, but what strikes me most about this is seeing Mr. Burns jump into action, knowing exactly what orders to give AND manning the controls. Yes, I know he's the head of a nuclear plant. But as a child watching this in the 90's, I only saw him as a greedy, out of touch, lonely old rich man who was simply cashing in the cheques from the profits and always looking to make more money. Edit: Wow! Thank you for all the likes, everyone! 15k at the time of writing this. Now THAT'S crazy. Lol 😄
Whats more surprising is him showing empathy for Homer to not just let him keep his job for doing nothing but caring about Homer's feelings of inadequacy.
Mr.Burns has officially earned my respect by not just actually showing he knows the plant and the work but he also knew carl and lennys name (he called him by govvy name too) 😂😂
The fact that Mr. Burns even felt a bit of sorrow for homer after the situation was handled is unreal with who he is. Shows even the worst of people can have feelings and empathy.
Homer is there as the problem finder, there's an episode where he does a Homer thing which shows the whole power plant, at the end Mr Burns congratulates him and gives him a jar of buttons for his good work. He then proceeds to literally hide the bodies. He's a problematic but successful canary.
@@zygas25he wasn’t the cause of that meltdown I don’t think, the episode where that happened had the entire fate of the power plant in Homer’s hands (because he is the safety inspector) and he saved everyone by sheer luck pushing the correct button on the console, the rest of the episode is him not wanting to be known as a hero because he really didn’t know anything
In the episode where Homer becomes extremely obese so he can work from home he doesn’t vent the gases, so he goes to the plant and plugs the reactor tank vent with himself
Cuz if anything goes wrong, Homer can be the fall guy since it’s supposedly his job to keep people safe. Plus, Homer is too dumb nowadays to be able to effectively protect his own image.

even then he’s still got 3 kids to raise and thousands of dollars worth of property damage/assorted legal fees almost every 3 episodes or so, as such the leftover savings balance out to absolutely nothing
Im not a fan of how burns has changed over the years. The original burns wouldve shuddered and released the hounds if he knew someone wasnt working in his plant. Now hes always trying to be a good guy
Nah he’s still a miserable old miser. They’ve had episodes about that exact thing. He tried being good and basically started to disintegrate because of it. He just doesn’t want a nuclear explosion to kill him and all of Springfield
I'm actually impressed. Burns knew the names of everyone, delegated tasks without a second thought, took the reigns when things were falling apart, and knew exactly what to do to properly avert the crisis.
Burns has NEVER felt Guilt before! Yet when Homer asks why his machine isn't doing that and thinks he is worthless. you expect Burns to laugh or mock how stupid Homer is but instead he just has the same expression as the others and backs away.....Burns does care!
The fact that burns pay homer for doing nothing despite him destroying the nuclear facility multiple times but on top of that help the workers in crisis situation show that he still have a good side
This isn't Burns. He'd have left the plant quickly, let it blow up, and then collect insurance money somehow with his crack team of lawyers, and then shift the blame on someone (Homer), before rebuilding it. Homer, "D'oh!"
i thought the idea was that while homer wasnt smart, he somehow was incredibly gifted at keeping the plant running. i guess they just threw that out the window.
I would recommend Adeptus Ridiculous. it's a warhammer 40k lore podcast that's starting to branch off into Warhammer Fantasy. I would also recommend The History of Everything Podcast. I enjoy both for very different reasons, Adeptus Ridiculous is more funny and about the absurdity of the Warhammer universe, and History of Everything is just a solid history podcast from a guy who is enthusiastic about history, he's by no means a historian.
Ok, it is refreshing to know Mr. Burns knows what to do in a crisis, but I never imagined he would keep Homer around KNOWING he does nothing, and then trying to keep from hurting his feelings when he finally realized. Wholesome Mr. Burns content was not on my bingo card
It's not wholesome at all. He's the fall guy if anything actually goes wrong at the plant. They can just blame anything on Homer since "he's the safety guy."
Mr burns junping into action and helping avert the plants destruction is actually pretty cool to see
